I have found that I am able to buy most wax (soy is harder) in any craft store as well as molds and such. I buy any essential oils and dyes online.

you can buy them in most craft stores, and you might try Googling them for online sites....

i personally wouldn't go for a kit that has things in it, and i'm just supposed to use those things. but.. that's just me. i'm sure they probably work perfectly fine, but i've never tried one. i'm too picky, i have to pick out every single thing myself, so something some factory or whatever put together won't fly with me. *shrug* i've never looked for a kit, so i'm sorry, i'm of no help... not even really sure why i posted..

Hey, Sam

Once you've found your 'kit', rather than buying the relatively expensive wax granules, I've found it's much cheaper to buy el cheapo-segundo candles at stores like Dollar Tree & melt them... you gotta melt the wax anyway, it's no more difficult. Handy tip: I place the candles in a clean vegetable or juice can, then place the can in a small pan of water on the stove & VOILA! Cheap, disposable home-made doubleboiler!

For beginners, a kit is a very good place to start. That was how I got started. I got it a good ole Hobby Lobby  . After you are comfortable with how to do things, from that you can go on to adding differnet molds and waxes, scents and colors. There are many different ways to make candles, depending on what kind of look you want. I have a friend that uses damp sand in a bucket that she makes a mold with and she also makes ice chip candles using paper milk cartons and ice. There is also the dip method of making taper candles. You might check for candle supply houses near you too. I live in a rather large city so we have a few around. If you really get into making candles, they would be the way to go since you can get things in bulk at a better price that craft stores.

Good luck and have fun!
