Just wondering, the first time you met a deity, what was it like?

What did it feel like? who was it? What was going through you head when you heard them?

huh,

Glad i found this thread.. was about to start one about recent events.

The first and only time I've ever met a Deity was last thursday. My Teacher decided to call upon one of her God/ess's to come down.

Morrigan is definatly interesting. First impression was just this overwhelming presence. Then this joyful laugh as she decided to bascially slap me around. To "test" me, as my teacher put it. Even though i was batted around for a bit. I decided i like her.

I'm not one for God's or Godess's. However, from what I've been able to gather about her. She and I are compatible for lack of a better word.

So we shall see what happens.

The first happened when I was five and I don't remember much other than being scared out of my wits...however, my first experience with Star Goddess, Mother of All, whatever name you have for Her was awesome.
I was in the backyard at night at my ex-bf's house--'course he wasn't my ex, then. I see spirits and he doesn't and he'd taken me out and asked me to look at the backyard and tell him what I saw. I felt like I was put on the spot.
I went to the middle of the backyard -- closed my eyes and asked the Goddess for Her vision. Well, I'd always heard in the past, 'Be careful what you ask for." Boy, did I learn that lesson. She gave me Her vision. I saw the back yard...then in an instant, I saw the Earth, then the Solar System and then the Universe...it was like a movie--being pulled back in a scene with a quick prespective change.
My first response was vertigo...'Holy Shit, this is awesome', followed immediately by 'Can I go back now, please?' And I was returned back to my body.
It was one of the most powerful experiences I've ever had. The most powerful I'd had was my initiation by the Goddess about 3 years before that, but that one is intensely personal and can't really be shared.
I've been touched by Her and seen through Her eyes, so for me there is no question that She is out there and real.

Elise, That sounds like such an amazing experience! All I can say is, "Wow!"

I remember the first time a Goddess ever called to me. I was in the sixth grade and the Goddess was Artemis. My teacher was telling us that we needed to write a report on Greek or Roman Mythology. I was sitting across the desk from a good friend of mine when the name Artemis jumped into my mind. I looked to my friend, "Is Artemis a Greek or Roman figure?" I asked not knowing. My friend popped her gum at me, "I don't know. Ask the teacher." I raised my hand and asked my teacher the same question, "Yes, Artemis is a Goddess. You can do a report on her." I fell silent then. Needless to say, that's the first Goddess that ever called to me. Artemis still calls to me every now and then, but I've never actually worked with her. At least, not under that name. I wasn't even into Polytheism when she called to me then and a little too young to understand. I did find it odd however that most of the paintings I had seen of her then reminded me of my Sun Sign. (Sagittarius.)

Blessings,
Nepheria. :vanish:

When I met Isis and Osiris I felt like I'd met a long lost family member. I felt as if they truly loved and cared for me. As soon as the meditation ended, I brewed some tea and offered it to them. Though these were not the first gods I met, nor gods I currently work with, they gave me the strongest emotion when I met them.

My cell phone started acting up. Was very warm & wouldn't connect in the charger.

I was cleaning house.

My dog starting barking at the patio door. Nothing unusual really.

I went to see what he was barking at.

Just across & a tad to the right of me, in a baby pine tree, was the largest raven I've ever seen in my life. Had to have been nearly 2 feet tall.

It sat in the tree for a bit, looked at me, then flew off. Wingspan had to have been 4-5 feet wide. I went to the window in the living room to see where it went. I had disappeared.

My cell phone continued to act up--draining its battery completely to the point of auto-shut-off simply sitting on the counter. Turned itself off in a matter of 2 hours--totally drained.

My bf came over. I had him check it out. Told him about the raven. The phone was hot to the touch, and would not hold a charge at all.

He said he felt something--someone coming to check in, to visit, to watch me.

Things stayed like that all night.

The next day, my phone was in perfect working order--nothing wrong--no heat, no missed connections, everything normal.

I remember the first time i invoked The Morrigan.. her presence was very powerful and intoxicating..I love how her energy feels... There is no mistaking her energy thats for sure..
In my workings with The Morrigan if you decide to invoke her you need to have a purpose.. something for her to direct her energies to..I have seen what she can do and i wouldnt want to be on the recieving end of her anger..
when she takes you as one of her children she will make her presence known and watches over you, she gives the strength to deal with whats going on in your life but i wouldnt advise anyone to just play with her.. she calls for much respect and shouldnt be invoked/ called on lightly.. she is after all a war goddess.. the goddess of revenge... among other things.. Blessed Be ~Morrigan~

[size=3] I was in my second year of being a perpetual seeker at a Wiccan circle here in Reno (late 1980-s). The moon meetings would typically go (a) everyone get together at the HP's house, confirmation of ritual start time, (b) all seekers taken downstairs while ritual goes on, (c) ritual, (d) seekers invited up for cakes and ale, (e) seekers encouraged to decide on a teacher. I was really tired of this routine, but I was too wary of the weird feelings I was getting from the HP. I noticed that sacred space seemed to develope in the basement directly below where they were cutting the circle on the floor above....so I had the habit of meditating there. That night I meditated there, got an immediate sense of presence, and within a few moments Ullr began speaking to me.

What was I thinking about? I was bored with the 'seeker routine', and I was wondering how I would ever receive teachings without having to subordinate myself to people who were trying to get over on me somehow. Then Ullr popped in, bored with not interacting much over the past few decades, and taught me a whole bunch.

That much i already know. when it comes to Deities i don't mess around. Like i said i wasn't the one who invoked her. I just was in the room.

Well it depends on which one. The green man just started showing up all over the place, and then I knew I was being called. Athena, just spoke to me I guess & I saw an owl in my dreams over the years, and Demeter has always felt close.

I'm not sure if I've ever had a meeting. There was a few incidents with storms, though.

Like I said in one of the other threads here a few moments ago, I'm open to any god/dess that's interesting in -me-. I don't want to have to go to him/her.

The way it sounds, I won't be getting anywhere ^-^
