I was told a long time ago that we recognize familiar souls. The souls of people we knew in other lives, and places we've already been(if you believe in reincarnation). I've been to many places and felt they were somehow familiar. I've went into homes that I've never been to before, and of course they say"The bathroom is....." and before they can finish,I walk right to it. I've also recognized a lot of people. Somehow they're very familiar, but yet I can't place them. And I know that I've never seen them before. That's also happened to me on the computer. My husband even said he thought a person from here looked familiar.

I get it all the time! SOmetimes it's quite freaky and I want to shout out that it's so weird but I have learned (through experience!) that it tends to freak out everyone else as well!

Yes, I often find myself knowing something I shouldn't. I realized it first as a young child when I looked out my window and saw a totally different landscape before me. I questioned my mother about it and she asked one of the neighbors (since we had not lived there for long) and I was correct. I've also experienced it with people...one of whom I am very good friends with right now...

Not recently, but when I have, it's been really silly things.
Like I'll recognize the exact formation my mashed potatoes take on my plate after I've been mounding them with my fork.
Or I'll be half-asleep and "remember" everything that's going on around me (conversations, people walking by, etc. This happened at a family meal like Thanksgiving one year).
So yeah, but nothing really important, ever. :p

All the time. I don't even get that ittle tingly feeling anymore, since it's such a regular occurance. It more that a part of my brain just kind of pokes me and says, "Oh, by the way, we've done -this- before, too."

i have it at least every couple days. i think it is kind of something telling you that you're on the right path for this life, which is very scary, because my life is shit right now.

Sometimes, but I can't say that it was ever anything that made me go "Oooooooo, spooky!" ... usually I chalk it up to knowing people (or their type) too well. I can usually tell what they are going to say and/or do before they do it (in general, not specifically). To my mind, I am just being observant of the character of others. Nothin' fancy.

Yes, I get deja vu. Happens when I've dreamt something and then it happens down to the last detail days, weeks, months, and a few times even a year later. (and yes, I do remember my dreams very clearly) It's bloody annoying. >:[ And slightly creepy feeling....I'm waiting to see if something happens Feb 7th before I declare myself spooked.

I do, but not very often. But when it does happen, I pretty much just have to sit down and go "whoa..."
I respond mostly to places and pictures of places. Certain places in woods will give me a start for no reason, as well. It's almost like I feel in two places at once.

Same here. It's like a snap-shot of a dream but not strictly visual but of all the senses. It's not a "been here before" but more like a "seen this before".
Spelling it out now almost sounds more like premonition than deja vu though.

Yes, frequently. My experiences have taught me that it means I'm on the right path when I get deja vu. But I don't think it means that I've had the experience before and I'm reliving it. I think it's just a shift in awareness, a heightening of awareness, that makes it feel or seem like you're repeating an experience. These days when I get the feeling I hold it as long as I can just as an exercise in shifting and controlling awareness.

Ah, that feeling you are living a moment you have never lived in before, at least according to Monty Python. :smileroll

You know, I could swear someone asked me this before... :nyah:
No, but seriously, I think that sometimes it may have been a premonition I've forgotten about because when I had the vision it didn't seem all that important, then it actually happens. That's usually when I get Deja Vu

I not only have deja Vu often. I have dreams of things that actually happen before they happen. Visions I guess, nothing big though. On Sun morn I had a dream about a lady in a big hat on the beach telling me and my friends not to go too deep becuase there was a shark warning.
Later on Sunday, me and the friends who were in the dream were going to the beach spontaneously. When we got out of the car and began walking down the path to the beach, this lady (exactly the same as in my dream, clothes, big hat and all) said "There's been a shark warning, dont go out too deep".
When she started saying it I felt dizzy, like I couldn't concentrate and like the ground was being pulled out from under me. Then I realised that it was exactly like my dream. As a result, I definately didn't go out very deep. I thought it may have been a sign that I might get taken by the shark.
That night on the news, I found out it was right near us, maybe 100m away from where we were swimming. Freaky hey?

yah i get some times. and its weird. It ususally happends with small things. but it plays like a movie clip a short 30 seconds of doing something. when that happends I feel slightly removed from my self, and then I realize that this has played out before. I remember a bit of a dream. and i remember it all down to very detail. smell, sight, sound. for example: I work at an airport. and i was fueling an airplane. then I suddenly felt disconnected. I knew right away what was going to happen next. one of the other fuelers drove up by me and asked If I could fuel the plane he was going to fuel. he wanted to go to lunch. he gave me the tail number I said ok and he left. Then it was over. I was like WOOO spooky. I then remembered that I had dreamed that along time ago.

All the time, and I will occasionally remember when I dreamed it, but not all the time.

I used to have it quite often when I was younger, usually not remembering the dream until the moment comes into the present. I've had flashes of places I'm looking at during a conversation, small things like that. The more common ones I use to get were of book pages. I would be reading a book and then its like, oh I saw this in a dream I had months ago.

I have them all the time, but they are so far back that I forget the dream, and then when I am in the situation it comes rushing back! I had one once were I was walking down a hall and I walked into a kitchenm/sitting room, there was a boy who sat by a door he had been talking with a man and the words I heard him say were "Should I go get her ready now?" ok so three years later I go to New Zealand......yep you guessed it! The exact same boy who was my roommate said thoughs words the frist day I was there! And while I was in New Zealand I had a dream about a field with a tree stump in the middle and there were horses in the feild, guess what?! Two years later I am staning in that field in Germany!

I get deja vu relatively often, and in different forms. I guess nothing has been too surprising, and most of it has been rather vague. I've had dreams in which the same events happen during the day or the week, or symbols from my dreams appear in my waking hours, but none of it has been 100% dead on "OMG I totally predicted this exactly as it happened!"

I get deja vu pretty often. I've definitely met people I'm sure I've know before. Most times the deja vu is just little things though. A couple of days before Christmas, my brother and several friends came over and they were going to have a party. One of the girls there turned to me and said "OMG did you see what he bought for Aspen for Christmas, it's so pretty". I just stared at her with a really weird look. Everything seemed to stop for a moment and felt like we had already been through the exact same situation. I take it as little "mile markers" or something showing us that we are going the right way and are doing exactly what we should be. Even if it doesn't look like it from my point of view.

Yes, particularly in Berkeley for some strange reason. I've always been a throwback hippie chick in some ways and I figured in that sense I'd fit right in around here, but something about being in Berkeley just gives me the jeebies sometimes.
About a year before I moved out here I actually wrote a story in which the two main characters were living in Berkeley up on a hill looking down at the UC campus. Now mind you I was making it all up. I had NO idea of the logistics of Berkeley. I'd never been. Other than knowing the name and that a lot of the social revolution that happened in the 60's came out there, I knew diddly about how the place was laid out.
I get here, and pop over to Berkeley and there they are those hills looking down over a campus filled with trees, and the houses? They're pretty much what I described for my characters....
I dunno.
Past life thing?
I am beginning to think so, but just a FYI, I was born in 1966 so if I was in Berkeley it was long before the main events of the 60's....
Still, Berkeley feels oddly like...home.....
NYC felt that way too, but not nearly like this.

All the time. Only in the weird "wait a minute, I've been here before" kind that is followed by looking for something that I don't remember which leads to realize that in my remembering I was having deja vu as well.
I once read a great explanation for this kind of deja vu. Your brain is switched into the wrong mode so it is processing your experience almost faster than you are experiencing it so the present seems like remembering (I hope that made sense). The brain is such a fasinating and impossibly complex thing.
