hey would anyone happen to know the names of the dragons who rule each element (ie Fafnir with fire) and possibly which rule over the dark and white energies? i havent heard anything about either of them =/ and if at all possible could someone give some good resources into the dragons and dragon magick in general outside of the book dancing with dragons? thanks everyone :)

It's my belief that there is no "ruler" over each elemental form of dragons, and that there are as many "types" of dragon as can be crossbred. I also believe in place of these elemental rulers that there are different clans of dragons, originating from four main clans.

Sort of crosses into different territory than where you're currently at, but as most dragons are still just unincarnate spirits, this applies equally as well to magic as it does to Otherkin.

I don't know much about dragons, but I highly recommend you private message Aldrick on the boards. I'm almost positive he would know, and at one point I think I did, but I can't seem to find my old BOS at the moment.

Um..is it just me, or would Fafnir definitely not be the sort of person you'd want hanging around the Circle? What with the killing of his master and the Helm of Terror and whatnot.

haha fafnir isnt all that bad... a bit scary at times but otherwise not any worse than any other dragons :)

I might be missing something...but isn't Fafnir the dragon Sigurd slays in the tale of the Nibelung? If so...

A) Fafnir isn't originally a dragon - it's thought he was once a dwarf who was so greedy that he slowly became a dragon after many years of guarding a hoard of gold,

and

B) Why would a dead dragon be an elemental ruler?

a) is correct and

b) i don't know, and i wouldn't want to invoke him.

perhaps it's some other dragon named Fafnir? it's the only logical explanantion i can come up with, anyway.

also, aren't myths what we are working with here? stories, that while not necessarily factually true, nevertheless help to explain the universe? why then would anyone dismiss one of the old stories as "just a myth"?

Dealing with Dragons is a bit tricky.

Either you fit in or you don't. based on my experience anyway.

The upside is that they have a lot of wisdom and knowledge to pass on. The downside is trying to convince them to pass it on. Something for something, nothing for nothing.

If your going to call upon a specific Dragon, my advice is to get to now them. Dragons have a funny habit of getting annoyed suddenly when they are busy or if someone calls them up randomly for nothing important. Alos, be extremely courtious. i've found that nothing anger's them more then a show of disrespect or bad manners.

Just my view on it.

Bahamut, not the Bahamut is king of the good dragons, while Tiamat, mother of the dragons was the head of those of the dark persuasion. Stuff I have learned so far. Also for a book check out "Dancing With Dragons".

Tiamat was the dragon from which the world was formed from, while Bahamut is simply the king of ALL dragons. The only time Bahamut represents good and Tiamat evil is in AD&D/D&D lore.
