...then what is running one over and leaving it for dead?

Day before Thanksgiving I go to smoke a ciggy out our back door and there's my SIL's cat. She's sitting all funny, like a human, legs out in front of her and meowing at me. I asked my hubby what was wrong with her. He's like "Dunno", then she gets up. She is dragging her back legs, completely paralyzed. Pick her up and it looks like she's wearing a corset on her back. Just totally squashed together on her spine. :wah2: I had to call my SIL and tell her that her cat was ran over and would prolly have to be put down. She comes over with grandpa and we have a good cry, then we put the cat in a box and they leave.

Bad story good: They took her to the vet and they say she should be fine in a few months. Lucky they didn't just take her and shoot her like I told them to. Doesn't seem like anything was broken. I don't know, she smells like she's rotting. I just hope she's ok. I love cats, so does my husband, and we felt really bad that she got ran over when we were supposed to be taking care of her. People are such jerks, I hope their car blows up.

omg! Thats horrible :(

Thats just reminded me of when me & my SO went out for a walk, and we seen a dog lying down in a pool of blood, we were going to go over but there was a couple already there & had called a vet out, poor thing was still alive!!! I wanted to go & help, but there would have been nothing we could have done and would probably have upset me even more!

every few days, there is a fresh cat in the mddle of one of the streets near us. if i ever get there on time, believe me, i will run out into traffic to bring the thing to safety. people really need to watch where they are going, and at least take some responsibility for their actions, like contribute to vet bills or something. I hope the kitty is feeling well soon.

That's horrid!!!!

I don't think that black cats are bad luck at all. Rather the opposite! I have one pure black cat and three more that are mostly black.

Sending lots of healing energy at your SIL's cat.

I don't even think money is necessary. I know things happen, and a lot of people don't have the money to chip in, that's fine. A person's pet is their responsibility. But the least you can do is stop and see if you can find the animal's owner! And if you can't, there is sure to be some neighbor willing to take the animal to the vet. It's just so....rude, mean, cruel (not sure what word to use right now) to leave the poor thing there.

We once ran over a dog that had already been ran over and was dead. We stopped and screamed until someone at a farmhouse we couldn't even see responded. Turned out to be the owner, and they were very grateful that we took the time to try to help their dog. It only takes a few minutes. But in everyone's self absorbed little world's they care about no one but themselves. Yes, getting to Loaf-N-Jug for the latest POWERBALL numbers really is that important. *shakes head* geesh
