Rune Newbie

I have had a set of Runes for practically all my life. They have been taken out and looked at. "Played" with when I was younger. I recently looked at the "book" that came with them. That's as far as I have gotten. They seem to call to me every time I look at them. I would love to use them regularly and become proficient. I just don't know where to start. It also seems sort of hokey to try to learn rune reading from the little book that came with them. I feel it should be something deeper than that...is it just me? If anyone out there can point me in a direction or start me out somehow, I would be very grateful.

Hello fellow rune-lover. I've been reading the runes for about 5 years, and have been taking a class here on MW lately and learning new things about the runes.
