If you wanted to give a Brand new beginer a site where they could learn a little about paganism, where would you send them?

Actually I tried that, but they found it overwhelming and had to keep either looking things up or writing me. We casually use terms beginers don't know. I am looking for more basic.

what kind of paganism?

Wicca (http://wicca.timerift.net)
Druids (http://www.wildideas.net/cathbad/druid.html)
Irish Reconstruction (http://imbas.org/)
Lots and lots of Traditions at Witchvox (http://www.witchvox.com/xtrads.html)

and if you mean magic:

Cantrap (http://cantrap.net/)

badkitty,

Try http://www.spiritonline.com/ . I find it a good starting point for a lot of religions, not just pagan, and it is less overwhelming as it is set up as a reference tool.

I like the site Carickah posted... But to be honest... here at MW has been a VERY good experience for me, and getting the viewpoints of MANY like minded people has helped me clarify some of my own beliefs, and I have been a pagan over a decade. If a beginner needed a place to go, to get advice, or to find out that there really are a LOT of other people experiencing some of the same issues, then I think MW is one of the Best places to go.

Believe me, I'm not posting that site to knock MW. Spirit Online is a good place to get info, but this is a great place for fellowship and camraderie and actually exchanging thoughts and ideas. Personally, I'd tell a beginner to check both out.

I first thought "I wonder how many posted MysticWicks?" when I looked at this thread.

Personally, I would suggest MysticWicks for a site to talk to other people about different types of paganism, not so much as a resource itself. It's got a lot of information, but that can be a good or bad thing for a beginner. They might love all the information, but then again, they might find it overwhelming. So, for interaction with other pagans, MW has my vote.

For the others, I think Spirit Online isn't bad. I can't say I've ever really looked for sites for beginners.

I agree! For me, MW is more about the fellowship than the resource, although I do learn many things from people on here. LittleRhiannon posted some of the other links I would reccomend, so you might take a look through those as well. Here are some other links I've managed to keep in my bookmarks:

The About (dot com) Pagan Wiccan Pages (http://paganwiccan.about.com/)
Asiya's Shadows (http://www.asiya.org/)
Flame's Firepit (Shamanic Info as well as Wiccan) (http://www.flamesfirepit.org/)
Witch Grotto (Ben Gruagach's site) (http://www.witchgrotto.com)
The Witches Way (http://www.witchway.com)
The Witches Sabbats by Mike Nichols (http://www.geocities.com/Athens/Forum/7280/index.html)

Just a few to browse. I'm off to do some holiday shopping!
