Okay, ready?: _wiz_
Step one: Visualize the friend who is holding on to your books for the extended period of time
Step two: Pick up the phone as you are remembering their phone number, and dial
Step three: Once they answer the phone, ask in the most poilte way possible if they are finished with, and willing to return your books.
Step four: After they have answered your question, respond with "So anyways, how have you been?"
Step Five: After you have spoken, and said your piece, hang up the phone.
It is sometimes much more simple to solve a problem with practical means, than to cast complicated spells to do something you could just as well do without the aide of magick.

Thats what I would do!
You have to remeber that magic doesn't fix EVERYTHING, sometime we ave to do it oursevels in order to learn.

Or saying that they aren't allowed to come to your next birthday party unless they return books.

hello dose anyone know a spell that may help in my books being returned by the person they are lent out too.? thanksMan, alive! When I FIRST saw this topical thread I RAN TO IT! Finally! Finally, I thought: someone "practical" and with a "useful" spell, to boot!
Does anyone have any idea approximately how many new, used, rare, dog-eared, and whisley-rim-glass stained BOOKS THAT I HAVE "lost" THRU THESE lacklustered, lonely YEARS? Or (let us make this "easy"), how 'bout just THIS one PAST YEAR?!!?
I'm asking: "Anyone? Anywhere? DOES anybody KNOW?!?!?"
And, now, on SECOND thought, maybe this "idea" ISN'T so very daft, or "far fetched;" in fact, maybe ("Do we dare 'Think It?'"), just possibly . . . What if:
What IF someone (say: "someone" such as ME, even! Hey! I'm a "SOMEONE," too, dag-nab-it-all) would, umm . . . I dunno, say, MAKE-UP SOME brilliant "Return to Me Books" SPELL, huh?
You w/me, so far? 'Kay. Then, say that I might even actually POST THE SPELL somewhere . . . Somewhere like, say, I dunno, could be almost ANYWHERE, but, say I posted my new spell HERE; here, right here on MWs?
And THEN, let us say that out of every TEN MEMBERS who actually READ my new "Bookish Spell" that FOUR OF THEM actually PERFORMED THE SPELL? These FOUR people actually DID DO the "step work!!!" E-gad, man . . .
And THEN! What do YOU THINK would happened when these FOUR SPELL MAGICIKIANS began to report--here, and on a semi-daily basis, or, more so--that they've actually been RECEIVING, and "receiving," almost, as if from EVERYWHERE (e.g., in their US mail boxes, on their desk at work, left upon their doorsteps in differing colored, paper hues, upon the formerly "book-less shelf" in the foyer directly outside and to the right of their two-and-a-half guest bathroom AND! And "under their 'formerly spotlessly clean and dust-bunny free zone bed, et. al.) these "mere" BOOKISH SPELLING MAGICIKIANS had actually "tapped into 'Something' . . ." and this "Something" suuuuure was SWEET!
Well, then? What do YOU think might logically follow as a direct result of said "magickial occurrence," anyway, huh?
I'm asking: "Anyone? Anywhere? DOES anybody KNOW?!?!?"
I DO! I most CERTAINLY do "know," and I know "exactly" what would happen, and, I'll tell EVERYONE, here, and now, because . . .
Ol' Zander'd be PI*SSED because he "forgot" to charge "Fifty-cents a POP!" in order to receive--directly thru US Mail, OR? Or "overnight express" for an additional $3.95 . . .
Seriously, folks!
Who wants to make a million-dollars? Who's coming with me, then!
I'm asking: "Anyone? Anywhere? DOES anyONE, anyBODY, anyWHERE KNOW?!?!?"

By *NO MEANS* was I trying to be rude or insensitive about the subject when I posted... just trying to be practical. Very interesting how people respond....
And of course, honu, I *am* definately a smart ass, because the other side of the coin is to be a dumb ass, and I certainly would not want to be one of those... ROFL.
If you *sincerely* think it will take an act of magick to get your book back, then most people ( almost all of the people that I know anyways ) find that their spells work more effectively when they draw them up personally. You put a lot more energy into creating your own spell, than in borrowing energies from someone who writes one up for you. You do not have to get overly complicated with it, just put your intent into writing, and work on visualizing your friend at your doorstep with the book. And if you are still having troubles with the spell work side of the problem... then *MAYBE* try to get someone a little more experienced to work out a spell for you.
In all honesty though, I still say that the best way to solve this problem is through plain ol "communication skill" and speaking with the friend who borrowed the book, and asking them to kindly return it.

Have to admit, I've been thinking of creating one for the Grove's collection. We put our time and money into building a library so students (and us, we count as students too) would have access to a good selection of works and everytime we inventory some are missing and NO ONE seems to know who borrowed them or if they got "borrowed" instead. Usually the difficult to find or signed copies and such, of course. Forbidding borrowing doesn't seem to help either. As scribe, I take it a bit personally... they are part of my responsibility.
Heh, maybe I'll just settle for a large posted curse. "Warning, attack librarian on duty."
