Merry Meet to you all,
I am so happy to be a part of such a wonderful place...thanks to all of you that have helped me through with my questions or anything! This place is like..My love. Anyhow, I do have some more questions to ask of you. :sadman:

1. How do you feel about writing a lot of personal thoughts in your BOS..Like as much that it makes it look more like a journal...should I just start another book for things like that?
2. Can anyone show me a link about runes? I looked on the rune forum..but dont..get it! LOL Like, is there certain symbols..that have certain meanings?
3. When it comes to it..Does anyone else wake up everyday and think..I am wiccan..or I am pagan. I just cant seem to get this thought out of my head..and I am proud of my religion yes, but I dont want to think about it all of the time
4. and LAST but NOT least..HOW to deal with the people that are "Fakes". Like there are several people at my school..that because they think Witchcraft is the "Cool" thing to do..they are all running around acting like idiots saying OH I will put a spell on you..and stuff like that..and its REALLY getting to me...because When they say they are wiccan, that makes people associate their actions with me..and Im nothing like that. UGHHH. lol Any Advice?

Any help would be awesome!!! :fpoke:

Well, I don't work with runes, but here's a good link I found while looking for information about them:

Here are my thoughts....

1. How do you feel about writing a lot of personal thoughts in your BOS..Like as much that it makes it look more like a journal...should I just start another book for things like that?

You can keep personal thoughts, dates/information on spells and rituals you've done, invocations you've written or found, rituals, ect....all kinds of things in your BOS. I don't do any of that, because I have never felt that need. My BOS is a place to keep my rituals and information that I feel is important, or has influenced my path in some way. If I want to write about anything spiritual/magickal that I have done, it goes in my every day journal, since I don't seperate my religion from my life.

2. Can anyone show me a link about runes? I looked on the rune forum..but dont..get it! LOL Like, is there certain symbols..that have certain meanings?

Here are a few links on runes that I have:

The Runic Journey (http://www.tarahill.com/runes/)
Futhark (dot com) (http://www.futhark.com/)
Anglo-Saxon Runes (http://www.englishheathenism.homestead.com/runes.html)

3. When it comes to it..Does anyone else wake up everyday and think..I am wiccan..or I am pagan. I just cant seem to get this thought out of my head..and I am proud of my religion yes, but I dont want to think about it all of the time

I'm not sure I understand your question--in my own experience, I don't think about my spirituality in quite those terms. It is simply a facet of who I am. I don't define myself by it, if that makes sense.

4. and LAST but NOT least..HOW to deal with the people that are "Fakes". I generally just let comments like that go right over my head, since I know that don't apply to my particular brand of Paganism. Unfortunately, it is those who speak the loudest (and most ignorantly sometimes) that are often mistaken as the voice of everyone. In my experience those particular persons generally don't stay involved for long periods of time, since it's all part of a show they're putting on for themselves and others. Something bigger and better will eventually come along and they'll move on.

Just my .05 cents. *wink*

1.) I'm still working on my BoS, and I've been practicing for, like, 4 years. :D I keep everything in my head. However, I have a seperate book for my thoughts, which is tucked into my BoS. I like to keep things organized and seperate.

2.) I was just looking into runes yesterday! Google runes and see if you find anything. There are set symbols with meanings. Try here: http://www.sunnyway.com/runes/

Edit: :bigredblu Gwendar gave the same link. Silly me.

3.) Sometimes, I do. I think you eventually grow into it. Just let the thought go. The more you focus on it, the more it'll stick with you. Just nod your head and say, "Yes, I am," and move on.

4.) I ignore them. Let them do whatever. Don't intervene unless they're hurting someone-- let them be happy with their little groupies. You know what you're doing, that's all that matters.

you remind me a lot of myself when I began 2 years ago. I've run into lots of people like the ones from school that you've discribed. Unfortunetly, that's what "following the trend of the moment" brings...people who have no clue as to what they are doing or saying...the best thing to do with these people is to smile and nod.
As far as info goes. I have some great info I could email to you about runes, I recieved it when I got my beginner rune set. So it is easy to understand.
gwendar gave you a good site, but I find the info I got better than what you find at sunnyway.com (of coarse it IS a good site)
anyway if you want the info, feel free to email me:

It is my belief that your BOS should reflect you. That's really what it is, you know, a book of your shadows. if you feel that you need to journal in it, then do so, if you feel the need to scrapbook in it, then do it. There is no real right or wrong as long as it is right for you :hugz: .

MM,
Thanks all of you for your kind advice, and I do plan to take your advice to heart. I will check out all of the links for runes, etc as well. I am feeling a bit better now, that I have some questions answered. And as far as the wannabes, I will just ignore what they say and try to just set a good example for others that might be interested...

Thanks Again,

1. I think it's a great idea. I'd like to start a sort of magical journal myself. You don't even need to call it a BoS. It's whatever you want it to be. :)

2.) I should probably let someone else answer this one!

3. That's never happened to me. Maybe you could try to wake up thinking that you are you!

4.) You could speak out and make yourself an example to others. Say straight out that you are not like that. The people you're close to and care about will take the time to listen to you, and you can explain it to them.

Yes,
See, I do think I am me..but I think that Wicca is such a huge part of me...I dont know I do tend to center my thoughts too often on one thing...I will try my hardest to just..you know.go with the flow. As to the wannabes, yeah My friends know exactly how I get when they come around..We have gotten into arguments before because one of the girls that said she was wiccan, was like..I am gonna put a spell on that "rather unmentionable" because she said blah blah..yada yada not important..And then started talkin about satan and bs like that..so I DONT KNOW. LOL I just looked at her and was like you really should not talk about things that you do not even know. then I turned away and finished my work. UGHH,.. LOL
TY for the Advice though

You know, it's funny that you mention that, I had the same kind of thing for a while. I would have these odd moments when It just seemed that my faith defined me, it kind of felt like putting on someone elses clothes, they fit ok, and they may look great, but you still feel like they are not your own. I found that that feeling went away as I practiced and became competent in my religion.

I don't have an every-day journal, but I do have a magickal diary that I keep inside my BOS. It has it's own section, but it's still a part of the whole.

I wouldn't say it's the first thing I think of when I wake up (as that's usually food) but since I discovered my path, yes, I'm definitely more aware of myself in a religious sense.

Ignore them. If you get any raised eyebrows, just explain that not all Wiccans act the way those people do.

I try to help educate people who want to be educated. If someone is a know it all who knows nothing and isn't open to the fact that they could be wrong, don't waste your time correcting them. However if someone is looking for information, open to other opinions, etc, they I say share your knowledge. You can always point people to www.wiccaforbeginners.com if they are realy off base on Wicca. Let them read it for themselves.

Lessee...

1. I have a regular journal for everyday issues, but I do keep journal-like notes in my BoS. When I do a ritual, I'll write it out (or if it's a repeat, I'll write out that it was the same as a previous ritual with "these changes"), and then I make sure there's room to write more. I do the ritual, and before I break down the circle (so it's still cast) I'll write down what I did for the ritual, if I made any last-second changes, and what happened/how I feel about it (did it feel successful? was it energetic? did the candles blow out, chalice tip over, and incense set off the smoke detectors?) as soon as it is done. I'll leave some blank pages so I can go back later and write the long-term results. If I did a spell, for example, has it come to fruition, and what was the result? How have I observed the seasonal change since I did a sabbat ritual? This gives me information for later so I know what works, what doesn't, and how to do it (or not do it) again.

2. I'm not too familiar with runes, but I did like the section on runes in Nigel Pennick's Magickal Alphabets.

3. I kinda do, but my altar is right beside my bed and I wear my pentacle every day (even in the shower) so I see it every day.

4. I discovered Wicca in college (and high school was quite a while ago), but my advice is to ignore them. Sure they're loud-mouths now, but if someone asks you if you are "Wiccan like those other people" you can honestly say no and explain it to them and where the others have it wrong. Keep it short and sweet though. No sense in lecturing people when they're not interested in the religion, they just want to know if you are associated with the "fakes." As MorningDove suggested, find a good site and give them the URL if they're interested to know more, but offer them only enough to differentiate you from the "fakes" if you think they don't really want to know about Wicca. Sooner or later those loud-mouths will get over the power trip when they discover no one is taking them seriously anymore, and they'll move on to something else to be their new fad.
