Whether you're a newbie or an old-hand, or an in-between-er, how important was it for you to find a pentacle necklace or pendant to wear? Does wearing it hold great significance to you? Do you keep it to yourself (under your shirt) or for the world to see?
I finally bought the pentacle pendant I had my eye on, and I was congratulated by my pagan friends. Buying the pentacle to wear did have significance to me personally, but needless to say, I guess I wasn't expecting it to be something of congratulations as though I had taken an important step. What are your thoughts and experiences?

i haven't found the one that just speaks to me yet...i just feel its one of those things (like an athame) that you'll feel when the time is right. in the meantime, i do wear my goddess pendant sometimes, but i don't really like to wear jewelry much(i rarely even wear my engagement/wedding rings).

I personally have gone through a few but would be world come crashing down if I didn't find the right pendant, of course not but it is nice to have that to you symbolizes your faith.

I prefer to wear my pentacle all the time, although mine is undercover. It is a celtic new moon with the pentagram in the center of the circle. Most people don't know what it means. The ones that do are obviously pagan so it makes it a nice way to flush fellow pagans out of the woodwork.
I bought it several years ago... didn't wear it much, but when I rededicated to my path I started wearing all the time as a reminder. So I guess it is pretty significant to me at this point.

I did not wear one for a long time, mostly due to the fact that they all looked mass produced and as if very little thought was put into them. The one I currently own is mass produced (should be anyway, I've seen it available on many online stores), but when it suited me in that it had a raven overlapping the pentagram. You can see it here (http://childrenofthecircle.com/MagickMoon/customer/product.php?productid=16691&partner=MMCF_Froogle) , if you wish.
The importance of it? Not very. Like I said I was perfectly content to never wear another one unless I happened to see one that appealed to me and in fact had been looking into simply purchasing a pendant featuring a raven alone. Despite that, wearing it does have great significance to me-I never take it off. I gave it its own cord created from leather so as to make it into pseudo-choker of sorts. You can see pictures of where it hangs in my photo album. I'm wearing two in the pictures (the lower and larger one being moonstone, not the pendant you are asking about). It varies on whether it is shown to the world or remains inside my shirt depending on what I'm wearing, which is fine by me. I could not care less if anyone sees it or not. Most often it can be seen given my clothing, however. I simply detest pendants and necklaces that hang way down, which is why it is a pseudo-choker.

My very first pentacle was small, and simple. The second one I purchased after my path changed and decided to start looking into the Celts...it had knotwork around the circle, and it served me for a few years, until my boyfriend gifted me with a beautiful pendant with horse heads that represented Rhiannon. When I found my home in Ar Afalon, I came across a pentacle that I fell in love with and it is what I wear now on a silver choker.
I believe there is a thread around here where people have posted pics of their pendants, if you're interested--you might try a search.

I'm still new, and haven't really been looking for a pentacle/pendant. I'm not sure if a pentacle would have much significance to me, and I haven't found any other symbol that would, so I don't feel too strongly about them. I guess I think that wearing a symbol means that you want some kind of outward showing of your faith, and to me that's not important.

My pentacle is small and simple. I wear it over my t-shirt most of the time which puts it under my business attire but on weekends and what not it's plain to see. It's pretty special to me and I was someone heartbroken when it broke a little. But it's all banged up and bent but that just gives it character right :). I've been looking to replace it and them hang this one somewhere on my altar since it was my first, but so far I've not found one that I truly like.
Someone above mentioned that it was like an athame and I'd have to agree. Mine was purchased online when and it's become a symbol of my faith and a symbol of my faith-in-myself, both of which are important to anyone.

My pentacle was given to me by someone I looked up to very much. I wore it not because it was a Pagan symbol, but becasue he had given it to me. I always thought it was important to have a pentacle given to you by someone special...thats why I havn't bought a new one after I lost the one my friend had given to me.

The pentacle I have now is my second but I love it very much. I have it with me everyday and don't feel right if I leave the house without it. I wear it openly most of the time but if I don't it's in my pocket. For instance I just started a new job and I'm gonna wait a while before I wear it openly but it'll be in my pocket everyday unless it can be hidden under my shirt.

I actually do not have a pentacle. There was never any real attraction to any that I have found. I do, however, have a necklace that I wear most days that I have a spiritual connection with. It is has a 5-point leaf(main point down, as if the cord it hangs by is holing the stem) with the leaf maiden in the center. I have not been able to find this design anywhere since. The maiden is my envisionment of my Goddess. I wear it often, but not all the time. When I do wear it, I like for it to be against my bear chest, altho sometimes I will wear it outside my shirt. This is not because I am uncomfortable with showing it, just the closeness I feel.

i had a silver pentacle when i first started practicing Wicca, but it never meant that much to me and i would usually only wear it during ritual.
then i got a handmade stag's head pentacle which i wore religiously  for years.
i didn't wear anything for awhile, but now i have this silver Hekate's Wheel which i wear everyday...

I actually have a few necklaces that have religious significance to me. I seem to collect them!
I have a large "ohm," which I wear nearly every day, I have a triple moon, another ohm, a large, very chunky pentacle with runes on it, that I use as an altar pentacle, a small delicate pentacle that looks like it is made of woven vines, and a very "Ceremonial Magick" looking one, which has the Elder Futhark on the outside of the ring, and various planetary symbols on it.

I haven't found a pendant or pentacle that I have been especially attracted to. I plan to get one eventually, when I find the right one, but right now I want to keep exploring my faith. Maybe I'll find some special symbolism I don't have yet!
For now, I have a seasnail shell that I put a hole in and ran a chain through.

I wore my first pentacle ALL the time when I first acquired it. It meant a lot to me. I wouldn't say it was a life-changing experience, although for me it meant something because I was wearing a symbol of my new-found path and that made me feel confident and complete.
Now, I have several pentacles that I interchange with my ever-growing collection of Pagan and Goddess jewellery. :)

It was about two years ago when I found "THE ONE." ;)
My boyfriend at the time and I were in Salem, Mass., in a Pagan store when it caught my eye - a beautiful moonstone right in the middle and half moons on either side of it - the perfect triple Goddess pendant for me! So my ex bought it for me and I've loved it ever since. I don't know quite what I'd do if I lost it...but it means the world to me and I proudly wear it so that all may see if they choose. I have a picture of me wearing it. It's not the best picture of me, but it's the best I have of my necklace.

Just silver. Have had it for years.
I usually just keep it under my shirt for when I am work.
I work with elderly people, and it is hard to explain to them what it is and what my path is.

I have a pentacle with a horse on it that I wear every day. I don't draw attention to it, but I don't hide it either. I have met a few other pagans because of it since they notice the pentacle immediately-other people seem to focus on the horse.

Mine is a pentacle surrounded by celtic knots. I love it. I never take it off, and wear it outside my shirt. When I first started wearing it I covered it with my shirt because I felt uncomfortable, but as I've learned more I like wearing it out. I figure that many Christians wear crosses prominantly, right?

I have 2 pentacle necklaces. My first one is on my altar and is just a plain silvertone. The one I wear at all times is very small surrounded by celtic knotwork. I am always on the lookout for the one that suits me perfectly. I usually overdo it on jewelry a little (I love the stuff) so hanging with the pentacle is a witches medallion that has an athame, altar, chalice, and cauldron on it, and a beutiful sterling silver half moon. The necklace has been consencrated to the goddess and I find it shows itself when needed and stays in my shirt when needed.

The one I found may be mass produced, but it is silver, filigried(?), simple and elegant. Perhaps one day I will find the one that calls to me.
I do wear it everyday, usually covered up though. I'm caught between pride, fear of people's reaction, and "wearing my faith on my sleeve." Needless to say: I haven't got the confidence yet to show it to the world, but eventually I will.

I wear my pendant everyday, sometimes inside my shirt and sometimes outside for all the world to see. Depends on how I'm feeling. It's a little dinged up from the wear and tear, but that just makes it look less like it was mass-produced, and more like it is my own. I also wear this one tiny Celtic knot ring my boyfriend gave me everyday, because it's both a sign of part of my faith and also a gift from someone I hold dear.

I personally have a few that I wear, I just alternate between them. I do wear it below my shirt though. My religion is my business and unless there is a reason to discuss it or it comes up in conversation I generally keep it to myself. That being said I generally feel that wearing a penticle is a contious choice to take a step out of the broom closet a bit.

Hi folks,
MM,
I've been away for a bit. Illness mostly, sorry. I"m struggling with a couple of chronic things unfortunately so my net time is more limited than it used to be.
As to pendants, I have a few, and I switch them according to my mood. I sometimes wear a Nile Goddess, or a "Morrighan" necklace with a Celtic Raven and head that someone got for me, but most often it's a triple spiral of some sort that I'm wearing or a "Mary" Medal otherwise known as an "Miraculous Medal." I have a fondness for those if they are old and interesting and I find they make a great Goddess symbol the RCC's viewpoint on them notwithstanding...
Sometimes it's all the above as I have several rings that are variants on this theme and I tend to mix them up...On a given day you may well find me wearing some antique "Mary" medal, a triple spiral ring, and a half moon, whatever moves me...
I'm not really crazy about Pentas. I have one that has a cat on it that I sometimes wear because Bast is also a favorite with me, but in general I prefer the spirals or MM as religious symbols. Oh, and of late I'm also into wearing a "Magdalene" medal I found and occassionally also a labyrinth, of the Goddess womb kind in copper...
Yes, I have a strange mixture when it comes to theology. Jeshua and his Mom, his maybe bride, the Magdalene, they're all in the Pantheon and I am as fond of them as I am of Aset, Bast, Morrighan, et all...My altar is pretty much that way too more inclusive than not...
I actually just got a new triple spiral with 3 celtic knots in sterling for Yule. That and a hand made clay labyrinth from Ireland were my main gifts this year and I got them early. I'll probably be wearing that mostly for a while as I am quite taken with it and wearing it presents no real problems work-wise. Most places I've worked in the folks wouldn't have a clue that it's a very pagan symbol anyhow. Spirals work for me and they're pretty low key compared to a penta.
I usually don't share my faith at work. Unless there's another Pagan there I don't even mention it...I'm job hunting now, in the process of dealing with the health issues and basically reconfiguring my life around them. I do hope to work in Berkeley fairly soon, so it may be a mute point in the near future as to whether or not I am Pagan....
Most folks there have a pretty live and let live attitude and there is a good community of pagan folks already there so I don't think I am going to see an employer run screaming even if I ever do decide to wear the penta again... Far from it. It's one of the reasons I moved here.
It's just real nice to finally be able to be me, ya know?

i used to wear a dime-sized pentacle everyday. it was plain silver with no real detail to it and i found after a while it didn't feel personal enough (the symbol did, but not the pendant itself).
shopping this past summer i found the pendant i wear now: it's an abstract silver....daisy, i suppose. very psychedelic/rock looking.. i like that it's still got the five "points", still single point up, but it's more laid back and less in-your-face. it just works for me, and i continually get these little "a-ha!" moments of one more meaning this particular symbol could have in reference to my life. not exactly a star, and certainly not traditional, but i like it :bigredgri

My pentacles and other Pagan jewellery, are important to me- but on a personal basis. It is not something that I need or could not do without and I believe that the energy/magick in them, comes from me. It is, to me, symbols of my belief and I also find it to be visually pleasing to look at, as any other jewellery I would wear.
I wear my Pagan jewellery openly, I never hide it.

I have 2 pentacles and i always have one of them on, i have empowered them for various things and i feel naked without one on. Sometimes i wear them under my shirt but since one of them is simple and plain silver it goes with everything. My other one if for special occasions and it is usually on my altar. Its silver with amythist in the middle and two cresent moons beside the top point. I feel its important to wear one, but i agree if it dosnt seem right to you, by all means, dont wear one.
I just love feeling this silent connection with someone when i notice that they have one on too!

MM~
I remember travelling 2 hours out of town to my state's capital city (Brisbane) to look for my first Pentagram. The whole purpose of the trip was to find one that suited me perfectly and interestingly enough after looking through a variety of New Age and Pagan stores I found myself at a store a little out of Brisbane called Spirit Wisdom where I found my first Pentagram - small and plain, but one that never left my neck for three years (except when I was showering, or doing something else involving water). The whole experience was very much a sacred pilgrimage and thinking back on it actually startles me; I've grown so much. Earlier last year I stopped wearing my Pentagram at Lughnasad as part of my sacrifice - I was giving up my security, my sense of definition, when in truth I know that I am Witch and no material symbol gives me that truth - it comes from within.
Later on during the year I purchased my second Pentagram wich was a beautiful ivy-worked Pentagram dedicated to Pan (the package said so ;)), but all the green rubbed off so I don't wear it much anymore. Last week I bought a Rune pendant with Eolh inscribed in it because it just called to me and my boyfriend bought me a snake charm (I've always loved snakes). So at the moment that is what is hanging around my neck~

I have a small silver pentacle necklace that I wear almost all of the time, I only take it off to sleep, and if I forget to put it back on in the morning I feel bad through out the day, and I always wear it on the outside of my clothes, I'm proud of my faith and don't hide it. I also have a trinity knot pendant I wear which represents to me the three phases of the goddess and the god, and them sometimes I will add a celtic pendant that I like but that has no type of religious significance but does represent my heritage.

I generally dont wear a pentacle/pentagram. I am aware of the meaning and of the significance, but i like to wear symbols that are less well-known. To me, it seems cliche to wear black, wear a pentacle, or creasents...i like to find other ways to express my beliefs.

I don't know how 'important' it was for me to find one, but I'm glad I did. :) Mine looks very much like my avatar, but without the stone in the middle... an upright pentacle in front, with an inverted one behind it. It's supposed to symbolize balance between light and dark, but for me it also represents the Sun and Moon and the planets used in astrology, which is a big part of my particular path.
I wear it out in the open... it's small and the design doesn't attract as much attention as a 'normal' pentagram. That and I'm essentially 'out of the broom closet' anyways.

i have a sun, moon, & star pendant and i put together from things i found at an arts & craft store a year or so ago that i wear literally all the time. it hardly ever comes off me lol. i love it because the sun, moon, and stars are very significant for me and they aren't generally associated with paganism, so i can wear it out on the open freely without worry.
i would love to have a pentacle pendant, but for the longest time i never came across one that i felt was "the one", so i never got one. however, i think i've found "the one" (http://www.enchantedglyph.com/pentagrampend.htm) now, but it's a tad bit expensive and i'm a poor college student who can't afford it at the moment. :hrmm: when i am able to get it, though, it'll have to stay under my shirt at all times as i've yet to come "out of the closet".

i found a neat pentacle in this Little Wicca Box sold at B&N for like 4.99, the box include a book the size of a matchbox with basic wiccan principles in it and a pentacle necklace on acheap black cord. The pentacle is nickel plated, and beautiful, i put it on a silver link chain. It works well for me.

For some reason, I have a difficult time connecting with the pentacle. I am more drawn to the triquetra or the untiy knot of Celtic orgin, yet still represent the Triple Goddes and three phases of the Moon. I haven't purchased one, as I am still searching for the one that just calls to me. And when I do, I will most likely wear it all the time. I have looked at pentacle jewelry, and considered buying some, but I know that I would just be wasting my money on as I would never wear it.

I wear it out most of the time except when I go to visit my family and when my cats try to rip it off my neck. *lol*

I have had a variety of different pendants that I have worn over the years. The current "all the time" three are a sterling silver hawk's head, a faceted rutilated quartz given to me by a spirit sister and an Othala rune.
I have several pentacle pendants that I have worn over the years, including one of an oak tree with the pentacle inscribed on the trunk. I often wear that one with a second pendant of a caduceus on the chain. I have been looking for a pentacle-and-caduceus pendant, but haven't found quite the right one yet. I'd like to have one with a greek letter psi replacing the staff, which means custom work, but I haven't found the right craftsperson to do that yet.

I have always enjoyed wearing a pendant or more specifically a pentacle. Crystals also seem fullfilling to wear. I think wearing a piece of jewellry that symbolizes (to you) your beliefs, has a psychological effect. It makes you feel good about your beliefs, almost proud. Unfortunetly I don't wear my pentacle as much as I would like to since jewellry and auto shops don't mix well.

I bought my pentacle three years ago from, amusingly enough, a store called Spencer's. Anyone who knows of that store will know it's a specialty store that sells mostly gag gifts...but it has a nice jewelry section! XD Besides, it was the only place at that time that I knew of that sold the type of pentacle I was looking for: something small, nothing showy or flashy. I HATE big jewelry, the kind that's the size of a car's rims...it's obnoxious to me. ^^;; And, the pentacle I bought was small and modest, with some Celtic knotwork around it. It's pretty and intricate, but not showy.
I also bought it with my best friend. We decided to buy our pentacles together, and she bought the same one (and the store only had two, amazingly...in fact, they had to dig around in the back room to find mine, heh) so it not only has special significance there, but the pentacle's design and meaning has always been significant to me—though I'm not Wiccan, and neither is my friend.
At first, I hid my pentacle under my clothing, but after a while just wore it openly. Most people mistake it for a Star of David, and anyone who asks, I just tell 'em it's a Celtic symbol, and they accept that with no questions. Most people who've noticed it and understood it have been fellow Pagans.
Only once have I had one person question me...a friend of my dad's. ^^;; He thought it was a Satanic symbol, but I corrected him by explaining the different between inverted and normal pentacles, and that cleared that up! Except...his response afterwards was, "Ohh! Okay! Just wondering, because I was thinking, 'whoa, is she into witchcraft?'" Buuut...I just kept quiet... ^^;;

I think it is important to have a pendant. I have pendant of Thor's hammer that I wear all the time (I also have a nice pentagram one but wearing both at the same time doesn't quite work). I wear it as a symbol of protection and also its pretty :bigblue:.

For me, getting my first pentacle was mostly a matter of leaving the broom closet. ;) The pentacle isn't a major symbol for me, so I chose one with a more meaningful symbol, the spiral, incorporated. It also had Celtic knotwork around the edge and was a tad larger than I prefer. I wore it for a few months. The only problem I encountered was a person who asked if I "practiced." Since I'm just pagan, not a witch or Wiccan, that was awkward. (Do you "practice" paganism?) Eventually, my search for the perfect pendant moved on. The pentacle now lives in a bureau drawer.
Now, I wear coin-style medallions from this place (http://www.quicksilvermint.com/) which was at the MN Ren Faire. Combined symbols reflect my path and gods more accurately than broad symbols. I have four medallions in all: butterfly/skull; rose/hawk; phoenix/snakes; and tree/turtle. I wear one nearly everyday, usually the one associated with the ruler of the current season, but sometimes I'll pick one for a deity whose influence I'm courting. :p I wear them either openly or covertly depending on circumstance. The only problem is that they don't help me ID other pagans the way the pentacle could. :ghostie:

i have always felt for some reason better when i wear my pentacle. it is differnt because it is a double pentagram ringed with apple blossoms symbolizing rebirth. i recently took it off a few times because of job interview and such i didnt want people to be biased about me due to my religous belifes. i have had a new job now for a few days and well i ahvent been wearing it. yesterday (my bday) i had this terrible dream that it was broken and that a cross had been run through it. when i got up i put it back on. it made me feel that i was letting others narrow minded belifes over take who i am. so tomorrow when i go to work i will proudly wear my pentagram for all to see.
as for the in the shirt or out of the shirt thing i let it go where it wants to go if it wants to be seen then it will be and if it doesnt then it will not be seen.
i have attached a pic of it for those who would want to see it.

I'm a Pagan and I practice-- I do rituals, Sabbats, spells etc...Those things aren't just bound to Witchcraft and Wicca.
think of the reconstructionists-- they're not Wiccan and they do those things as well.
So I believe you can be "just Pagan" and still do those things.
Of course it depends on what kind of Pagan you are and what you are comfortable with.

Anyway, I originally wanted to say that the site you posted was cool, I'm looking though it now. Thanks :)
Oh! They have the OM...that would work perfect to express my Hindu pantheon...

I can never find something I like. I don't like pents, so that makes it tricky.
What I would love to have, and I honestly don't know if they exist (but maybe one of you knows where to find one!) is a brass septacle. I love brass. Even a goldish-colored septacle would be fine, but I don't want a metal as dark as bronze and I DON'T want silver/pewter.
The number seven is very strongly connected with Apollo, and with his solar aspect I think brass would be ideal. Brass has all of the warmth of gold without the flashiness or the price tag.

My pentacle is an oil bottle with a molded pewtar cap that has a pentacle on it... however, since it is pewter - it leaves grey marks all about my chest. Yuck. So I don't really wear it. I'm looking for a small sterling silver pentacle - simple and not too obnoxious looking, to wear.
My pentacle is just a focus tool, like everything else I use. It helpe me remember my promises I've made, my life goals - as a witch and as a human being.

I like to wear it all the time, it's not very "flashy" so I usually wear it on top of my clothes. Actually I have 3 different pentacles - but they keep getting lost, and only one of them finds it's way back to me.

My fiancee has that exact pentacle. I also bought him a plainer one with celtic knotwork on it.
I brought mine virtually when I started out. And I wear it all the time, and I haven't actually seen another pendant that I like as much as the pentacle I've currently got.

I was in no rush to get a pendant, but eventually Abaxion's Faery Star (http://www.abaxion.com/hj02.htm) jumped out at me and I said, "I MUST HAVE IT". I wear it every day unless I know I'm going to be doing things where it would get in the way. Sometimes I keep it in my pocket if I'm sure it won't fall out.

I buy several pentagrams and goddess pendants that I am attracted to. Then I use them in my gemstone/crystal beaded jewelry. So I wear several pentagram and goddess gemstone/crystal beaded necklaces. Which one I wear depends upon my mood, which gemstone/crystal would be beneficial to me for that day, and what outfit I am wearing that day. My pentagram and Goddess necklaces are always in the open. I also wear pentagram earrings. Such jewelry is important to me personally, not for show, but as a personal symbol of my faith, protection symbol, and the gemstones I use on the necklaces have benificial metaphysical properties. It's definately not to "show off."

I am going to be buying a new pendants soon to make a couple more gemstone/crystal beaded necklaces. Because I am a Christian Wiccan the ones I have picked out will be perfect for me. Here's what they will look like.

My pentacle charm is small and plain. The fun comes in finding different things to do with it. For a while I had it in a hemp necklace I'd made that also contained seed beads in yellow, red, blue, and green for the Elements. Then there was a black knotted cord with larger rainbow beads for GLBT pride. About 3 months ago, I crocheted a ribbon choker for it. It's silver thread with a black ribbon running through it. It's gorgeous, but it pops up at the ends, which is sort of annoying. I think I need to...I don't know, iron it or something.

Lady Valkyrie, those are really beautiful! I had to grab the source of your pics to check them out. The one on the right would make the perfect present for a pagan friend of mine who does work with Archangel Michael.
I myself wear a simple silver pent all the time. I really need to polish it soon. I consecrated it when I dedicated, and it hasn't left my neck ever since. It's a small reminder of the path I'm on, and that every day is sacred.
Oddly enough, I keep getting asked if I'm Jewish, as it must look like a Star of David. Sort of thows me for a loop if I'm not thinking about it. Luckily, I work in a very open office, and don't get very odd looks when people find out that I'm a Witch.

Wearing a pentacle was a lot more important to me when I was younger, I had a very simple pewter one, and I'd swear oaths on it, in typical 13 y/o fashion. Now I have a gold-coloured one, which was harder to find, but which suits me better, that I wear on occasion. Whether I wear a pentacle inside or out of my shirt depends on where I'm going and who I might meet on the way.
For me, a pentacle has very little significance spiritually, it's just one of many occult symbols I could've chosen to wear. If I wanted a spiritual symbol, I'd wear a leaf (of any variety :)

I don't wear anything, but that's because I don't shop online very often, and I've never seen anything that caught my eye first-hand. Usually the Pagan-esque stuff I see about is gaudy schlock that looks like it's intended to elicit a quick buck from some rebellious teeniebopper who wants to piss off his/her mom. Nothing at all like some of the purtimous stuff I've seen on this thread today.
Now that I'm pretty far down the road of engineering a custom new Pagan tradition from scratch, I'm more keen than ever on getting and wearing some suitable jewelry, but of course I know there's nothing out there with a Pentapple or a Triduc on it because I invented the symbols (or at least this particular expression of the symbols anyway.)
I need to learn how to do my own casting, I guess. I'd like to make a necklace/pendant based on my Triduc-Pentapple motif, and perhaps some engraved or etched bracelets with various things written in my Applebeech compositive runic alphabet. (Futhark meets Ogham.)
It's been on my mind to do this for awhile now, but I haven't sat down to do the necessary reading. I know a little bit about how casting works, but not so much obtaining the raw materials and whatever is involved in getting the stuff melted. I've never cast anything more difficult than lead before, and didn't do anything terribly interesting with it.
Anyway, if I ever carry through with any of this, I'll wear the results.

I have to say that the penticle works like a homeing beacon, seeking out others of our ilk. I wear my on the outside so that it lets others know that 1.) If you're going to hate me for who I am in the long run, you might as well know now that I'm a witch, and 2.) Witches, and those who are openminded to Witches are welcome here.
Most of the comments I've recived as I started wearing mine have been positive.
Most people tend to abide by the the old saying: If you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all....

The pentagram is a very important symbol to me, and it seems like, for some reason, that makes it more difficult for me to wear it openly - it feels like I'm revealing something deeper to the general public than I would choose to reveal. However, I own a simple, basic silver pentagram necklace (the most basic pent ever) that I wear in ritual sometimes (always, if I'm going skyclad... for some reason, I like it being the entirety of my outfit!). However, on a day-to-day basis, I have a ceramic pendant of a Celtic tree design that I wear a lot. It's on a cord, so I can adjust how far down it hangs, and the tree is probably my next-most-sacred personal symbol...

i have a pentagram necklace that i wear every single day. its a pentagram thats surrounded in a circle by ancient Theban/Witch's Runes. i wear mine very openly too. but sometimes i feel that i shouldnt. ive had comments on it involving ppl thinking its the symbol of a devil-worshipper. this makes me angry, but im still very proud and wear it openly nonetheless.

I recently gave my pentacle away. I wore it for 2 years, only taking it off to cleanse it in the ocean after some idjut would touch it. I stopped wearing it outside my shirt after the 1st year. I had my pentacle hanging in my room, wondering what I was going to do with it. The saturday after Katrina hit, one of my pagan friends came over. I had never been real close with him, because he worked with dark gods, and I had previously been skeered to work with the dark. He told me of his storm experience, how the roof blew off in the building they were in, (2nd story) he had to run down stairs holding his girlfriend, because she was in shock, kicking in a door to the room below, and riding out the storm with a bunch of dogs in a kennel. Seems the door he kicked in was a commercial kennel place. He had lived in a trailer, so he wasn't sure where he was going to go, as he didn't think his trailer was still there. They ended up at memorial hospital in Gulfport. He's a big guy, about 6'3", and his room mate is pretty big too. They got drafted to unload helicopters. supplies, hurt people, dead people. He said the helicopters were like hornets in the sky. One would land, they'd unload it, another would land, etc. He would look at the bodies to see if it was anyone they knew, because they couldn't get in touch with their people.
When he came over that saturday he was worn out. I knew I would miss my pentacle, but I knew he needed something. I had recently bought a nice silver chain for it, when I was still living in Hollywood. I told him to keep the circle going. If he ever didn't want to wear it, to pass it on. Here's to ya FITZ, for all you do, this pent's for you!!!!!!!!!! :apumpkin:

I finally found the nicest pentacle that actually stood out and clicked with me.. just a small simple circled sterling silver star on a nice chain... and at the time I thought "I'll come back later and get it."
Silly me.. it was in a little booth that had been set up every day all summer long... and since the day I looked and saw the pentacle, I haven't seen it back! Grr!

I just got this one on Saturday (Oct 15) at the Carolina Renaissance Festival. The gems are peridots, my birthstone. I've been wearing it since. I wore it in front of my grandparents, and very religious aunt and uncle. They didn't notice. :woot:
It looks like a dreamcatcher, which works in my defence. The "feathers" look more like triquetras to me though.

I have a handcrafted, sterling silver triquetra pendant that I wear every day, over my shirt. Sometimes I put it under to keep it from getting in the way (ie brushing my teeth), but most often it's out for the world to see. The woman who made it is local, and when I saw it at a craft faire last summer, I knew I HAD to have it, regardless of the cost.
I feel naked without it, I'm not sure why, but I've always, always, always had a spiritual connection with the celtic triad, and I'm not exactly sure why.
At any rate, my necklace is very special to me, and I'd be very upset if I lost it.

You know, recently I had my boyfriend actually try to hide my pentacle necklace from other people while we were in a store. I was so shamed and hurt that I didn't speak a kind word to him for a day. I screamed at him all the way home, and then left him at his mothers house alone.
After the initial shock of that great betrayed feeling, I called him, and heard him out.
He said that he was trying to protect me, to which I retorted that I didn't need it. He explained that there were people out there who wouldn't understand(I don't care!) and that it could have started a fight, then he would have had to jump in and protect me, and then we'd both be in a world of hurt.
I understood what he meant, even though he still cares way too much about what other people think, but I understand.
For me, my pentacle is a very personal symbol. I do not believe in flaunting my beliefs in other peoples' faces, as I have had this done to me too many times, and grew up being taught to do it to others. Although it is a symbol of my right to believe what I want, I don't have to cause a fuss over it. Belief, in whatever one believes in, is a personal decision, not to be taken forgranted. I wouldn't want people to frown upon me for what I believe, even though I would tell them to go stuff themselves, it's not my fault they have no knowledge about other belief systems. I wear my pentacle still, but underneath my clothing, as a symbol of my pagan spirit. I don't need other people staring and breathing down my neck about something they don't understand.
It's sacred, just like anything else that has to do with any religion. I'm not a fan of people wearing any sort of religious symbol out, be it a cross, star of david, dove, whatever. Religion is a very sacred thing, and should not be shoved down other peoples throats. You don't see them parading around the bloody sheets of Christ, I won't parade my star. It is a secret between me and the gods. A thing brought out in natures cloak only, when at night I do spell work, and it shines in the moonlight. My pentacle isn't me, it's a part of me. It is for me, and me alone.

I have been having problems faith-wise lately so I last night I decided to take my Pent off and put it in a safe place. I posted a pic to it in this thread somwhere.
For my birthday I got handcuffs as a joke [not sexual]-- I used to want to be a cop for a long time and I was eye balling these handcuffs in the store and playing with them.
Anyway it came with two keys and I decided to wear one on my necklace.
It has a lot of symbolism to me:
It's a key so it implies unlocking something that is locked-- right now I feel that there are a lot of things that I do not know, that I need to figure out and understand-- in a sense I need to "unlock" them.
Keys also symbolize liberation, knowledge, mystery, and initiation.
I imagine myself on a journey and in the end there will be a a door and hopefully I will have the knowledge and wisdom to open the door, in that sense I would be the key.
Also I have a fear of been bound-- by force, handcuffs, or anything like that. Just being tied down and unable to move freely freaks me out. So the key symbolizes the power of liberation-- taking things in my own hands, that I am free.
I tried to take a pic of it but it came out crappy.
I drew a little sketch:
http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y82/MerytBast/mykeynecklace.jpg
I see the three holes as: past, present and future. the chain is though the present [middle hole] as that is where I am right now. It also shows that your present is determined by our past and our future is determined by our present.
So I wear the key now.
:)
Here is what my Pent is though, from the previous post here:
I bought it online, here: http://www.moonlightmysteries.com/catalog.html (http://www.moonlightmysteries.com/catalog.html)

Well, I've just got my first one. it's only a little unpretentious kind of one, but i think it's quite a symbolic thing to do, don't you, it kind of gives you a feeling of belonging? To actually have something that identifies you as a pagan to anyone else who might recognize it?

When i first started practising Wicca i was really into getting a pentacle necklace but unfortunately at the time there weren't any wiccan shops or the like around in my area and i was just getting used to the interent so i wasn't really savvy with online shopping. I happened to be flicking through a catalog one day and i spied a Triquetra pendant with a small cubic zirconia on the bottom of it. I immediately wanted it and lucky for me my birthday was coming up. I've been wearing it ever since, day and night, it's rarely off my neck. For me it's not just a symbol of my beliefs but of myself aswell and the most important piece of jewelry i think i will ever own.
