hi everyone!

i thought i'd start this thread because i was curious to see what people's thoughts were on weatherworking? :) what do i mean? well - weather magick, have you created rain (or some other type of weather) before or what is your experience with it? I don't know if it belongs under Just Talk but i didn't know where else to put it.......

well, here we go!!! :D

Both Naillosotarrain and I work weather. We try not to do it too much because we don't want to hurt plants and animals that need the water. We tend to do little things like a bit more breeze when sailing or a few clouds blown away for a picnic. We are really careful.

i have done some harmless things like that too. but like the two of you i don't like to "mess" with it too much either because it's not my place. :) i have called rain once when we really, really needed it. and i've blown away little clouds too....but thankyou very much for sharing with me!!! - Blessed Be!

Hmmm, I'm intrigued. Is weather working a talent, a learnable craft, a formula type spell? I'm not especially planning to try it, just curious....

Aren't they all one in the same...or at least can be?

Naillosotarrain and I don't know we are both naturals. For whatever reason we can just do things. I personally feel the weather and ask it to do what I want.

I see nothing wrong with weatherworking. It's part of our magical heritage and goes back to the Beginning of Time. However, I've seen people/groups/boards get all up in arms in heated arguments over the "ethics" of weather magic ~ a bit far-fetched if you ask me. :D

Weatherworking, to me, has its place in Magick. So, through the practice of this...we do attain Weatherworking talents as we do all other Magickal practices.

i'm not too sure....i never learned it, it just came to me too. like Yvonne and Naillosotarrain i just feel the weather.
but also like mol said, i think the potential is there for everyone! :) also maybe it is more prominent in some than in others....what i mean is that maybe some people have more of an affinity to it than others. for example: my *sister* Loradana can read the tarot like it's her second nature or second language in a sense but when you put me in the same sense i'm kind of fuzzy on what the reading is telling me. i just don't connect with it as completely.
then on the other hand runes are my second nature/language and i can feel them to my core but put Loradana in this sense & she is like i am with tarot...she can read them but she doesn't connect to them as easily. hmmmm....interesting anyway! thanks to everyone who replied!!! :D

I'm careful in my weather working because all workings for good or ill have reprocussions. I just don't like to tamper especially because in the past I have been upset and had things get out of hand. I think we have all made mistakes as we have learned it's part of the learning process. I just don't like to make mistakes so I have learned to take things very slowly.

you do have to be careful in everything that you do. i learnt that the hard way a long time ago and i wish i hadn't been so ignorant back then...but the lesson deffinitely did not go unheeded! i apologize if i ever come off sounding like i don't heed boundaries...i just tend to be very open and direct and assume that everyone knows that i do heed them. :o i guess i shouldn't do that, hey? :) but yeah, i have scars on my hand to remind me not to let things get carried away and 'out of hand!' ahhhh! CHEESY PUN! sorry about that :D ! he he he!

Can you feel lay lines and energy currents? If you can when you go outside start feeling them. As the wind changes direction feel what's different . It's a good starting point. I just sort of feel then ask it to do what I want so does Naillosotarrain. There are ways to force it to do what you want but I've never tried them. If you live near a pond or ocean go feel the currents within the water they feel similar to the air and most people have a strong feeling for water currents when they try. Storms feel kind of zesty I know that is a taste but it's the best I can do maybe someone else has a better word. It's like putting your tongue on a 9volt battery you never forget the taste. The air on a powerful storm tastes similar.

I used to use the Gift to change the weather in my immediate vicinity, especially between the ages of about 8 and 12 when I'd want it to be either sunny or raining most of the time, but didn't like windy days.
One day I was told a story about weather magick, about a young Witch who cast a spell to make it rain, but the rain was taken away from a farm and the plants withered, so she made a spell to make it sunny, but the sun came from a cold place and noone could go outside. It was something like that, and I rarely practice weather manipulation now.
I'm thinking of writing the story up and publishing it, because I think there are too few stories out there specifically relevant to children with the Gift.

That sounds like it a great story/parable/fable. I'm not sure which genre would apply! But I think it would be onderful in book form to use with children.
I don't know a lot about weatherworking, and have never tried it.
