Holy SHIT! I'm listening to the radio right now, and there are people calling in who witnessed both planes crashing in.

There was some guy on who was talking about the first crash when the second one crashed into the plane.

Man, someone's going to get seriously bombed into the stone age for this sometime tomorrow afternoon. Probably Afghanistan, that's where Osama Bin Laden's hiding out. Too bad they're already living in the bronze age.

This really could (and should) have been a lot worse. With an open border to Canada, a simple nuclear device could be disassembled, smuggled in piece by piece, re-assembled, and then there would be SERIOUS damage. It would be impossible to know which nation was responsible, since more and more countries are developing nuclear technology. Hopefully this will serve as a wakeup call for the nation.

at this point, they don't believe the capitol building has been bombed. But the south tower of the world trade center collapsed, not a few seconds before, people were seen in the windows. The pentagon has been bombed. All airports across the nation have been closed down, trains have been closed down. People are trapped in NYC. Guards are pointing assault rifles at citezens, trying to keep them away from the debris. I don't know about you guys..but I am terrified. I will be doing a ritual soon....to send energy to our nation. healing energy to those who had families who were harmed by this..and protective energy to the rest of our nation.

Oh Goddess...this is so terrifying!

I was just talking to Lucidia...she WORKS in NYC. So does her Father..only a block away from the tragedy. She is really scared. Say some prayers for her. She doesn't know if she'll be able to get home. I was in the middle of talking to her, and she dissappeared out of the IM's. Sighned off. I 'm a little bit worried...it was seconds before I heard that the second tower collapsed.

Please, please, EVERYONE TAKE CARE!!!!!!!!!! Stay home if you can, stay with your families and just be together. If you have relatives it's wiser to wait a little while before calling. I know it's frightening (belive me, I've been crying and I only know one or two people in the entire state), but the more people calling in, the more clogged the lines will be, and saftey workers won't be able to communicate.

I know it's frightening, I"m scared too. But we're all in this together, and we're all going to be ok. Prayers are a good idea, if your extremely upset try meditation if you can. Or just rest. Drink some juice or tea, try not to forget to eat. Grab a favourite stuffed animal or blanket. Hold your children. Just try to remember that it's going to be alright.

Apparently 8 planes were hijacked today. Five have been accounted for (2 in NY, 1 in DC, and 1 dropped in Pittsburgh and CNN states another hijacked plane is being trailed by a fighter on the east coast). So there are three more up there. Since all planes were ordered to land around 9:30 it's a fair guess that these passenger jets will be shot down.

Also, I have heard that today is the anniversary of the Camp David accords, so it is likely the PLO that is responsible. A lot of palestinians and afghanis are going to die before friday, and terribly.

I was sleeping peacefully, and my best friend (who lives in AZ) called me, to tell me... I turned on the news just as they were showing the first tower collapsing. I immediately lit a white candle, and some incense.. I'm freaking out here. My best friend works for Microsoft, and they closed down, just in case. Her girlfriends dad and brother are both New York stock brokers, and she hasn't heard anything from them. This is so scary. My thoughts are just running away with me, I can't help but be completely wigged out by this.

One thing I will say, Peter Jennings (on ABC) is doing a wonderful job, he's reminding everyone that this is a tragedy, reminding everyone to try and remember the lives that have so horribly taken. We need to remember these people and their families.

The last thing I heard, was that there is one plane still in the air that hasn't been accounted for, they're assuming it's been hijacked.

Those poor people on the passenger jets!!!!!! how horrible!!!!! Reminds me of a movie I saw, about the same scenario. Terrible! Meanwhile..I do not want to spread hysteria..or start rumors. I'm going to relate a story, as a warning to you all. Please do NOT log on to any government websites today. My Husbands Father, is a fairly greed oriented person. He invests in Silver and Gold. So today, he logged onto the official government Mint's website, to check whether or not the values have gone up or down. A warning about a security breach flashed across the screen, and about 20 seconds later, his Computer blew up! His modem, and his screen. So I just wanted to warn you. I don't know if it was a computer or phone line malfunction..or if it was indeed, due to a security breach....but...it DID blow up. So please, do not attempt to log onto any government websites, today. Again. I don't want to start a hoax, spread rumors, or contribute to mass hysteria. But I could not in good concscience, NOT relate this story. Just in case.

hit the second tower at 10:45...and they had to have been
loaded with explosives to do that much damage.
The tragic thing is those passengers on those hi-jacked planes
dying for no good reason, as well as all of the other victims.
There are a small handful of individuals/groups that are suspect,
and #1 is Osama bin Laden.
I agree with Mol.....this is not the time for Bush bashing....let's
think about those victims of these attacks....and let's light some
candles, and send out energy, and our condolences as well.

Meanwhile..the Church down the street is ringing it's bells non-stop. And the wind is picking up, and blowing my windchimes around like crazy...and I see a line of cars down at the church. I feel that so many of our people in this country, are sending prayers and energy toward the victims of this tragedy. And so many are adding their prayers for protection. It is a beautiful thing, that in a time of such ugliness, and tragedy, that human beings can draw together toward a common cause, and unite. I just had to share that. I'm thinking of walking down to the church after I finish my ritual here, and just sitting down, and adding my prayers to those said there, today. I don't know..in times like this, people tend to forget labels..and just call for healing.

It is not the Palestinians....it is most likely Osama bin Laden.
He has the the resources, etc., to do something like this, as
well as the backing of the Taliban....and I wouldn't be a bit
surprised if Colonel Khadafi is involved as well.

There is something else. Two of my friends were in the WTC when it was hit. One may be dead. A group of us have been emailing back and forth. The other of the two is giving us updates via his pda. Anyway, he is on the way to the hospital. There is hope that he was taken there.

Any energy you can spare. This guy is a great individual and it saddens me to think of the world without him.

All incoming international flights bound for the U.S. have been
diverted to Canadian airports, and all outgoing flights have
been cancelled until further notice.....and those incoming flights
landing in Canada will be thoroughly checked out to make sure
there are no hi-jackers, explosives, etc.

NEW YORK (CNN) -- Terrorists struck the United States Tuesday morning in harrowing, widespread attacks that included at least three commercial jet crashes into significant buildings.

• In the first attack, a plane hit the north tower of the World Trade Center in Manhattan shortly before 9 a.m., followed by another plane into the second tower about 20 minutes later. Both towers later collapsed.

• About an hour later, a plane crashed into the Pentagon, part of which later collapsed.

• American Airlines told CNN that it lost two planes in "tragic accidents:" Flight 11 from Boston with 81 passengers and 11 crew aboard and Flight 77 from Washington Dulles airport with 58 passengers and six crew aboard. Both planes were en route to Los Angeles

• United Airlines Flight 93 airliner headed from Newark, New Jersey, to San Francisco, crashed near Somerset, Pennsylvania -- police said initial reports indicated no survivors. United also confirmed the crash of Flight 175 from Boston to Los Angeles.

• The Pentagon, the White House, the State Department, the Justice Department, the Capitol, the CIA and all other government buildings in Washington evacuated.

• President Bush cancelled an appearance in Florida to return to Washington, calling the crashes "apparent terrorist attacks" and "a national tragedy."

• In the first ever national ground stop of aircraft, all flights nationwide have been stopped at their departure airports.

• All international flights were diverted to Canada.

• Philadelphia landmarks were also evacuated.

• In Chicago, the Sears Tower was evacuated; United Nations in New York evacuated.

• The New York Port Authority said it had closed all bridges and tunnels into the city.

• U.S. stock markets were closed after the New York attacks.

• NATO sent home all non-essential personnel from its Brussels, Belgium, headquarters.

• Border between the United States and Mexico closed.

They are shutting down all the federal buildings here in Buffalo, NY. They have also closed many of the other buildings here.

The air base here is on high alert and is locked down! The bridges into Canada are closed. Its your basic mayhem here.

NEW YORK, Sept. 11 — Americans reeled in horror Tuesday as the worst terrorist attack in U.S. history saw two hijacked planes crash into the World Trade Center, toppling the twin 110-story towers where thousands of people had just arrived for work. Within an hour, an explosion rocked the Pentagon in Washington, where the White House, the Capitol and all other federal buildings were evacuated. Military jets patrolled the skies while the FAA grounded all civilian aircraft nationwide, but not before reports of another plane crashing in Pennsylvania. President Bush vowed to “hunt down the folks who committed this act.”

MSNBC.com reporter AMERICAN AIRLINES said two of its aircraft, carrying a total of 156 people, had been hijacked and were used in the attacks. One was a Boston-Los Angeles Flight, the other had left Washington for Los Angeles.
Officials expected hundreds of casualties resulting from the trade center crashes.
Authorities had been trying to evacuate the thousands of people who work in the towers when they collapsed, trapping rescuers and workers. Much of Manhattan was being evacuated.
“I have a sense it’s a horrendous number of lives lost,” Mayor Rudolph Giuliani said. “I don’t know yet. Right now we have to focus on saving as many lives as possible.”
Elsewhere, United Airlines said a Newark-San Francisco flight had been hijacked and crashed near Pittsburgh. The number of passengers was not immediately available. The airline said another, en route from Boston to Los Angeles, also crashed. No other details were immediately available.

At the Pentagon, officials said an aircraft crashed into part of the sprawling complex, collapsing walls.
At the State Department, an earlier report of a car bomb proved to be unfounded.

ATTACKS MINUTES APART
In New York, the aircraft struck minutes apart, starting fires and sending smoke billowing out of the skyscrapers.
The first crash happened shortly before 9 a.m. ET. The top of the south tower later collapsed onto the street below.
“I was on the 81st floor of 2 World Trade Center,” Felipe Ayala told MSNBC. “I ran down to 78 — the main concourse — and met wife and coworkers. … I was asked to go back upstairs because it was safe, … I left my wife and returned to the 81st floor. I was looking out the window with a co-worker when the entire room just collapsed on me. I can’t find my wife and I’m looking around for her.”





MSNBC.com reporter Martin Wolk, who was inside one of the towers, said the lights flickered and there was a loud bang. People panicked and started to flee the building.
When they reached the lobby, smoke started to fill the building and people could see debris falling. “It was sheer pandemonium, people were screaming and crying, afraid to go outside because of the falling debris,” Wolk said. “We looked up and it looked like the top 20 floors were in flames.”

The twin towers of the World Trade Center have collapsed, major federal buildings in the nation's capital have been evacuated, and all planes into and out of the U.S. are grounded.






Shortly after 9 a.m., a second aircraft was seen crashing into the other tower. Broadcast cameras already watching the scene filmed the second plane as it slammed into the tower and exploded in a huge fireball.
A half hour later, President Bush made a brief statement to reporters, calling the disaster a “national tragedy” and attributing it to terrorists. He did not cite any specific terrorist groups but vowed to “hunt down the folks who committed this act.”

U.S. military jets took to the skies to shoot down any unidentified aircraft, and congressional leaders were taken to secure locations. A plane was reported to have been circling the Capitol building before the evacuation.
American Airlines later acknowledged that one of its flights had been hijacked Tuesday morning shortly after leaving Boston en route to Los Angeles.

In New York, much of Manhattan was evacuating as rescuers tried to regroup after the trade towers collapsed.

In Houston the Johnson Space center is closing. In FW the school system is under high alert from a bomb threat and at least one college has cancelled classes. Our Federal building was not ordered evac but people started leaving anyways. I think things could get bad soon just from panic.

We need to keep our heads and not let them get to us. Call the members of your families who are excitable and make sure they are doing OK. I think we our going to need alot of stregnth in the days to come.

I just went to the red cross to give blood and they won't take it!!!!!!!!They said they aren't accepting blood today and gave us an 800 # to call which is not working now!!!!

What kind of world do we live in?? Give blood Help...no wait we didn't plan on this... go away...

I was watching the local station here in Canada......they announced that they will be accepting blood in order to help those in need. Why wouldn't they accept blood, expecially on a day like today... :dis:

From what I've heard all calls to NYC are not going through. They have closed it all down. I totally understand and have sympathy for all the victims in the towers, and their familys, but just for one second, can you imagion the terror of those people in the planes?? I am just hoping that all the passangers and the piolets were killed before it crashed. May the God and Goddess hold each and everyone of these people affected, in their hands.

Gods...I feel SOOOOOOOO sick. I wish my hubby had not gone to work today...all I want is to hole up with him, and hold him until this thing passes. Soooooo scary. Meanwhile, in our town, we're having a water crisis. Some Gas-additive chemichal has been found in our ground water supply. We've been using bottled water for drinking/cleaning/bathing, etc, for about a week. With this, and the Current terrorist attacks, I think people in this town are going to start going insane. Scary Times.

In the local noon news- downtown dallas was cleared out this morning. At least 5 buildings including the tallest and federal were ordered evac and many more were voluntary. Most people got the heck out of there. This was the first I'd heard of it. Police are even checking parking lots and garages for any suspicious packages and cars. Its looks pretty serious in my neck of the woods. Is this happening anywhere else?

This is one of the FEW times that I am thankful I live in the boondocks. The nearest BIG town is woonsocket, which is not a target, most likely. Too run down...and then Providence. Which I hardly ever visit. So I dont' really know if Providence is on alert, or not. But...we're close to Boston, too. And I can imagine Boston is probably on alert, too.

I live in the UK and am sending my prayers to everyone in the US. I think that it is terrable that some human being could do something like that. The prime minester of the UK was nearly in tears when he spoke to the nation. There had been an emergancy meeting called aswell.

I hope to the god and goddess that there are no more bombings and that it is not the start of world war 3, as so many people think.

Okay, some news on my friends and family, my sis-in-law's brother did not go to work today! He works 3 blocks from the WTC. Their sister is trying to make her way home. Our friend Joe is fine, safe & sound miss the explosion all together.

There are still many loved ones in my community still not accounted for. Mol, anything from your friend yet? We still haven't heard from a co-worker's son or brother.

My boyfriends brother is heading down to NYC along with a contingent of Rockland County Volunteer fireman.

The shock will always be with us. Who needs electricity, my house will be lit by candles tonight.

Ft Bragg is closing post as much as possible. All people in and out are being searched. There is talk of a complete base lockdown....Airborne and all. Special Forces is on "lock and load". There was a bomb discovered in The Cumberland County Courthouse so all of downtown Fayetteville is blocked off. I too am glad for once to be so close to the boonies. I can always stay out at my parents place as nobody cares about that rural area. May Goddess slap whoever is responsable with karmic backlash. :razz: Light and Love ya'll. Now we really need to be a community and set aside the arguing.

i agree, the time for fighting about race, creed, sex, religion, and all other issues, is over for the moment. Now what we have to concentrate on, is healing. I feel so helpless, I cannot even donate blood, because of the infection that I have. So all that I can offer, is my prayers, and my condolances. I do not long for WWIII, but I do long to feel safe again, in my home, and in my country. I am worried about those who live and work, in the areas afflicted. I am saddened, extremely, for the people who lost their lives in this. I am worried, about our economic structure. I am sad that we have seemed to have lost our innocense, as a nation, today. No longer can we feel safe, traveling. No longer, can we be safe, visiting our nations monuments. No longer can we feel safe, operating in our every day circumstances, such as our places of employment. We have realized our own mortality. We have realized our own vulnerability. And this is an exceedingly frightening thing, for most of us to face, for the first time. Will our economy collapse? Will we resort to Martial law? Will our nation EVER heal? Will we find the people who have done this, and bring them to justice? Will we face more attacks of this nature in the coming months? Next time, will they use biological warfare? These are the questions swirling around in my head. I have tried to quiet my mind, but each time I do, I start to cry. So tonight, I will light my candles, I will light my incense, I will create a sacred circle of protection, and power. I will smudge my home, and create the Sacred Space. And I will pray for all of those, who like me, feel frightened, and feel violated. I will pray for those lives that were lost, and I will pray for those who will put their lives on the line, to right this great injustice.

This is all terrifying........colleges are shut down, here in jersey they are shutting down highways, banks, big companies, basically everything, even our local treasure island store is being shut down. Cell phones aren't working, the local newspaper is on standby, my ex, who i love very much works there, and we are all at a loss. A coworker of mine watched as the towers came down, my home city of Newark is shut down, I don't know how friends are, who's gone, who's okay. I can't contact my younger sister, who called me crying this morning and told me what is going on.

I implore everyone to light some white candles and to just meditate on peace, healing and understanding. WE MUST stick together, it's the only way.

The company I work for shut down at 1:30 we received an email from home offices that fortunately all of our permanent staff at the world trade center is safe but unfortunately we had a lot of temporary employees on sight as well in various offices and they have NOT been accounted for. My prayers go out to all the families...

The red cross in my area announced publicly FINALLY that they are NOT taking donations until tomorrow because they were just too damn inconvenienced. I HOPE THEY CAN SLEEP TONIGHT!

My boyfriends best friend is home safe & sound. He was working a few blocks from there.

also, my mother's friend is safe & sound, on his way to help out, all emergency personnel has been called in. Volunteer & paid

Still waiting on my co-workers loved ones.

I feel almost guilty for being releived that my friends are okay. It's still all too unbelieveable for me. like a horrid nightmare, come to life.

My first post of the day......
I woke up crying and still am. This hit ever so close to me. My best friend is in Philly and my family is in NY. I grew up with those two beautiful buildings behind me...always tall and strong, telling me that we were safe and united. Today they sit in a pile of rubble and dust, and they will never be again....
And, all those people....Gods....tourists and children. I was there...in that building, and everyone I ever cared about too. But oh....those innocent people...so so many. It hurts to even think of just one...

I am an Arab...and my family is Muslim...this is not what Islam is about. Please...promote tolerance among those around you (especially the children). I have several nieces and nephews who will have to deal with this, like I had to deal with the first bombing of the WTC. It was hard...and will be for them too. So many innocent people...I'm appauled, I'm in shock, I'm mourning for people I don't know, and that's the way it should be. This should hit close to home for everyone....

Why did it come to this?...the next question is...are we going to run over there and do the same? Gods help us to all be logical and make the right decisions.

Another building went down... they're speculating it's Trade Center building #7. For some reason, the structure was unstable, probably happening during the fall of both of the towers. They're not positive about it, but thats the basic concensus of ABC news.

You may all think me cold but I need to say that justice NEEDS to be handed to whoever did this on a silver platter. This happened two hours from my home and my childs school...they need to pay or they will do it again. The US has gotten too lax and we are looked at as a bunch of penetrable wimps! We allow everyone into our country with little to no questions asked then wonder why this happens! We need to serve justice swiftly and in a strong fashion.

I know you may all disagree but it's the only answer now in my opinion.

I am feeling this now. There is not much I can do, physically, at the moment. To heal this situation. My hands feel too small..too fragile, too incapable of easing the sorrows of people in this situation. But..when those hands are folded in prayer, or busy lighting a candle, or a stick of incense...they become STRONG, because they are the Hands of the Goddess. As She is in Me. And In You, and In ALL things.

I've just heard the news and am devastated and i'm a long way away.

I just wanted to say that my thoughts are with you. I wish there was something we could all do, that I could do. I feel so useless and this certainly makes me realise how worthless the everday stress that we panic about is.

Someone on the radio here said that this is the biggest reality check he's had.

He's not wrong. I love my husband, I love my friends, I love all of you guys! And I haven't been here very long!

Everyone, I wish you well. I hope you are all and your families safe. I hope that justice will be done as hard and cold that may be.

Unfortunately, one of my customers (Euro Brokers) had their offices on the 84th floor of WTC 2. I don't know if they made it out ok, and am very, very worried about them.

I've been receiving calls and emails from friends in Australia and England to make sure I'm ok...this is so very touching... It's almost gotten to the point where I don't even want to talk about it anymore, I want to talk about something else... But it seems that life here (especially here in NY) has been so drastically changed nothing else seems important anymore. How do we go about our normal lives now? It's not fair this happened, we are a peaceful nation...it's just not fair!

I first saw it last night on TV as was impatiently(*feeling ashamed now*) waiting for a late night show to start after the late night news and after turned off the mute button, I was shocked and couldn't believe what my eyes and ears were telling me. I was reading a book in bed with the TV, in mute mode, in the background when my eyes flicked to the clock to check the time and then to check the TV......what I saw :ack:.....it was like a dream, no, a nightmare rather than being real. My eyes were transfixed to the screen, thinking *aarghh* who did this ....how did it happen........who's responsible...........

:wah: Those poor people in the planes who probably had some idea of what was about to happen, that would have been horrible..... And those innocents in the World Trade Centre and the Pentagon (as well as those on the plane....again), the rescue workers etc, so many lost, SO SAD .......My heart:heartthro and sympathies go out the families of the victims and those rescue workers killed and to all americans.....:wah:

Our PM was in Washington and was moved from his hotel to the Australian Embassy for his safety and has been offered an US Military Aircraft for his return to Australia due to the shut down of the airports......Thanks to America for thinking of the safety and wellbeing of a foreign leader in this time of tragedy.......

Intense day.
This is one of those things. Like many people can remember exactly where they were and what they were doing when JFK was shot...this day will live in like infamy. Second period, Brit literature, 10:13, I was irritated at how my teacher repeatedly mis-defined the term "pagan". The announcements clicked on...my heart dropped before anyone even spoke. I could feel his tone of voice before the principal even spoke, as could my classmates as the loudest group of people I know fell deafeningly silent.

"I have just been informed..."

It was an oh-my-God kind of moment, as the silence was drowned out by the buzz of every tv and radio screaming the latest update. The line for the pay phone at lunch stretched down the hall...even the most careless student felt the need to call home and be told that it was all okay. People were angry at anyone at all, placing the blame. People were scared, wondering where thier loved ones were. God bless us and keep us, and may healing, comfort and all good energy go out to those most in need. God Grant us peace. Goddess grant us peace.

it's 9:15 and they've reported 200 NYC firefighters missing and 78 NYC police officers, i can't find out is all my friends are okay, because they are cops and i don't want to call their wives and make them worry more. besides what are they going to tell me, yeah they are down there and I know nothing else.

i've heard the jets fly over my house several times this evening. we're in the flight path to one of the air force bases and we figure some of the f16s were going there to refuel and such.

it's all surreal, the stores are out of water, milk & bread. everyone wants to do SOMETHING to help, we all just don't know what. my boyfriend's bro just got back, said, some guys didn't head down with the rest, so back home is protected. so the one's who stayed home packed up boxes. i'm lost, I have no idea what to do, i just want to DO something.

my son is scared out of his mind and i have no idea how to help him. i'm scared too. i put him to bed, but I doubt he's sleeping.

But call it intuition, I heard him say those words and I will never forget the chill I got that went from the base of my neck down my spine.. Kaylara did some research for us tonight. Right now, FEMA (federal emergency Management), reccomends donations of blood and/or Cash. So if you guys want to take up a collection, they reccomend you contact the Red Cross, or the Salvation Army. I don't personally, choose to do anything through the Salvation army. But I will Donate anything I can to the Red Cross, and would like to take up a collection for them here in my town. So that they can send more supplies to the disaster sites. For more info...go to :

Something, just flew over my house. We've been hearing jets all day, because of our proximity to NYC and local AFB, but this was deep & loud & rumbling and shook the windows! :( :eek:

i tried to lay in bed, but I have the TV on, all that keeps going through my mind now is 200 firefighters and 78 NYC police unaccounted for. I hope, pray, PLEASE let my 3 cop friends be safe.

I know i keep repeating this thought over and over, but they are the only ones of my friends that we have not heard from, for obvious reasons. even if they are all right, they can't call home just yet.

it looks even more eerie at night. bizzare. these 2 large bldgs. just gone. forever.

I guess the way I remember it...I was in bed. My mother comes into my room about 11AM...she says "sometimes things happen...bad things....no one in our family but...there's been a bombing...the world trade center is gone."
Having grown up with the WTC, I jumped out of bed and ran to the TV...I couldn't believe what I saw. I cried in front of the TV and called everyone I knew (all the phones were busy)...and I stayed in front of the TV all day....
My brother (a cross country truck driver) just called....he was in Manhattan...he's shaken but feeling okay. I still can't believe what I'm seeing...

I've seen the replay on the news about a hundred times and s till can't wrap my mind around the fact that it's real. It only sort-of penetrated when they (accidentally?) showed the people leaping out of the 100th or so floor windows. I have a candle lit beside me right now for them, and their families.

Also,don't be angry at those of arab descent.When the bomb hit here in Oklahoma City,people went after all the Arabs,a local TV station even camped in some poor Arabs front yard saying he was a suspect.Arab students were beaten at the University of Oklahoma,they had to all be rounded up and put under armed guard for their safety.Huge mistakes,there.
There will be tons of rumors over the next days and weeks,there sure were here.Plus visual images that can only add to one's anger,they sure add to mine.But we have to try and keep an even keel.

As we are all so shaken and fearful for the lives of friends, family, and or strangers both in NY and WA, but also on the planes and in our own homes. I have a terrible feeling that yesterday's horrible events were just the begining of something much much more. I do hope I am wrong, but it seems the man (bin laden) has absolutely no regard for american life, as he said our soldiers and sivilians would be placed into boxes. I am so scared for this entire country. May we all ban together and send our love and positive enrgies to those who are in such desperate need of them, and to eachother. And may we not forget to tell everyone around us how much we love them, and kiss our children when we tuck them into bed at night.

Yesterday early evening, I went to the Catholic church down the road, though I have never been Catholic, and haven't been Christian for years. However, the Church was completely empty. It was just me, kneeling before the statue of Mary, who seemed a Goddess to me yesterday. The look on her face, loving, and gentle. I thumbed through a hymnal, and found the words to some of the psalms, and read them. Comforting..very comforting. I was able to quiet my thoughts, there. And say some prayers. It was very nice.

Then, last night around Midnight, I did a ritual, lighting candles for protection, healing, peace, and purification. I felt so much better after the ritual...like i'd actually been able to do something to help, in some small way. And I felt the energies of so many other people in this world..it was a tangible feeling last night. I knew that SO many other human beings were sending their energy last night, too. Oddly enough, I feel like my cats have been able to sense the energy my husband and I have been putting out over this...nervous energy. They were going nuts all last night, but..when I consecrated the circle, three of them came into the boundaries, laid down, and watched EVERYTHING I was doing. I feel that their little kitty souls were aiding the magick, as well.

I'm just starting to organize a vigil in my town now. I have no idea who to contact. I'm going to check around at some of the area stores, and make sure nothing has been posted of a similar one yet, and then I'll post my own posters. (don't want to step on any toes, if another is already in the works). And I'll probably buy some candles, as extras. But I'm going to ask each person to bring their own (I don't have the money to buy candles for the entire town.).

I have been feeling so helpless. I don't want to feel helpless anymore. I want to do something, to make this better, in some small way :)

By the way, did anyone else get the goosebumps or start crying when the Bipartisan members started singing "GodBless America" on the steps of the Capitol Building? I sure did. Was crying like a baby.

I don't know if this is the place to put this or not but I wanted to say thanks to the countries who haved offered their support and help to the US. Namely England and the Soviet Union who haved offered to back us if needed in warfare. And countries from all over, Canada and the Soviet Union I know for sure have both offered to ship blood (and medicine by the Soviets) if we need it. There may be others helping too but this is all I've herad so far.. But to all of you who live in other countries, THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT! It does mean a lot to us!

Today, for me, has been a day of tears.....

I just happened to pop on the tv at 855am... (not the normal time I pop on the tv) to begin seeing the events unfold yesterday.

When the second plane hit, all we could do was look at each other in shock. My husband had told me of the terrorist warnings the FBI had announced last week that asked Americans abroad to take extra precautions. Then he remembered the Bin Laden's group last known threat was to be of "unprecidented" fury. I remember remark he made almost in a whisper, that "this isn't over yet." He was white as a ghost, and that's quite the accomplishment for a philipino.

I remember thinking a day or so ago that the president will be here (in Florida) less than a hundred miles away. What if there was an assasination attempt??? I had a very creepy feeling all day, especially knowing that Bush would be in elementary schools.

My husband and I frantically tried contacting his family in NYC. Eventually we contacted some of them, only to learn his mother and uncle were in manhattan. We jumped online to check the Fema and Eoc status of the state....and saw it was already at level 2. My husband immediately began to pack for his drive to MacDill AFB. He knew that threat level and state emergency status would go up.

We kept trying to contact his family for news about his mother and uncle. His mother happens to be an ER nurse, but is unable to work because she is too weak from chemotherapy. Her surgery was scheduled for Monday, Sept. 17th. The whole family here in florida was planning to fly up this weekend to support her and help her recover after surgery.

After hearing and seeing more reports about the plane going down near pittsburg, and the one that had hit the pentagon, we knew that the threat level had become the highest possible and that he needed to get to tampa. It was about that time that his uncle contacted the family and they called us. His mom and uncle were fine, in fact she was volunteering her services at St. Vincent's Hospital, where she was waiting to have another chemo-treatment when the WTC buildings were hit.

You have to understand his mom is a very VERY strong willed woman....nobody could've dragged her away from that hospital once she made up her mind about it. If she'd been closer to the blast she would've been right in there doing the one thing she knows....helping and trying to heal serious injuries. I'm so glad that God/dess put her where she was needed. She would've been so upset and depressed if she'd been home and unable to help the injured.

I just want to say that my prayers go out to everyone this tragedy has touched. I think as a nation we are stepping up to the plate, and doing what needs to be done to help. I know its easy to lay blame, but we as a people with a tragedy of this immensity need to be able blame someone for the atrocities that occured. Everyone has their theories, as does my husband... I leave it to the people that have the power to do something about to decide who is to blame. Had I lost someone in these terrible events, I might feel differently though.

Unfortunately, this is hitting closer to home for me. The FBI is conducting investigations here in Florida. The flight school 2 of the suspected hijackers attended is only a short drive away. They stayed with a local couple who had to go through an investigation because they'd opened their home to foreign students who may have participated. the 2 students had been kicked out of the home and had moved to the east coast, but continued using the local couples' address as their home address, even when renting the car left behind in the airport parking lot.

An area police man had to talk with the FBI because his wife, who was a flight attendant on United 93 that went down near Pittsburg, recieved a call from his wife before her plane went down. The press relentlessly baggered this man and his 2 sons into finally holding a press conference so they could ask about that last phone call. They had just lost the woman who had become mother and wife about a year ago to them and the press wouldn't leave them alone to grieve.

I don't think any of us can say the terrorist attack didn't affect us somehow...so many have wisely said things "will never be the same."

May we all find peace of mind in this time of turbulance......

Seriously though, I appreciate your thoughts Amora. I think Canada will do whatever it can, including sending blood when requested and treating victims from New York and Washington, to help out the States in this time of need. I know my place of work has already offered to host a blood donor clinic for Canadian Blood Services! I hope it will be scheduled soon.

I guess they found a bag in Boston, and suspect a bomb, or something. details are still sketchy. Anyway, the person who owned the bag, hopped a train from Boston to Providence. They are detaining two people on the train, booked one on a weopons charge. My husbands Sisters take that train..all trains are being detained. No Amtrak train service is available from Boston to Providence, and no bus service. So I think they are stranded there..and certainly frightened!.

Guys..I could use a prayer for energy. I'm organizing a prayer vigil in my town. Amazingly, noone has done it yet. I've made ALOT of progress. I got a major radio station to offer their services with a PA system, and cover the sound. I've contacted two newspapers, and they are running an article on it. I've contacted the town hall, and police, and checked if there were any permits needed (there aren't.) I still have a lot of publicity work to do, and I have to go get candles, I have to write a breif speech. I have to contact the mayors office, and the state rep's office, and get someone in the Political Circle to come and say something....and it's all a little bit overwhelming, because it has to be done by Saturday Night!

Lots of work to be done, and I've never organized anything like this in my life. I'm not really good at organization. So if you could all send some extra energy my way, I'd appreciate it. By the way, The service will be Saturday night, at 8:00, EST. So if you want to take a moment of silence, or offer a prayer, know that there will be almost an entire town, doing it with you!

Yesterday was my first day home alone with my baby and what a scary day it was to be alone. I was nursing him when I got a call from my grandma telling me about the attacks. I spent the entire day listening to the radio, praying, and drifting in and out of denial. I was in shock for quite a time and then outraged and then simply sad. At times it scares me to know that the world I have just brought my son into can be so violent, yet the way that the people of America are uniting together reassures me that there is still good in the world, good worth fighting for. I wanted to cry when my dad got home yesterday and when my friend Wes came over this morning. It was good to see the people I care about safe and sound.

Well, to be Hecate's Advocate, the US hasn't exactly been sending a whole lot of aid to Afghanistan or Palestine lately.

Afghanistan had a serious drought two summers ago, and a lot of people there starved because the UN imposed trade sanctions against them, which are still in effect. Europe couldn't sell food to starving people. They've got good reasons to hate the UN and the US.

And the palestinians, well golly, what have we ever done to them? Nothing. Except donated billions of dollars worth of guns, tanks, weapons and funding to the Israelis. And they use every bit of it, to slaughter palestinians and encroach on their territory.

Granted, this doesn't justify a reprisal of the scale we saw today, not even remotely. But to log on and see someone say "well gee willikers let's stop helping the taliban so much since we are the happy nice US who helps people so much"... that's too much. The US is not always the nice guy in world affairs, THAT should be the wakeup call we get from this incident.

Much agreed. If we spend this time being cruel to one another then the terrorists have accomplished much more than mass murder and we will only be adding on to they amount of damage that they have caused.

Hmm....well....the other post you made Ill about why the Palestinians and those from Afganistan might hate us.....those are quite accurate as well as other reasons that would take too long to state. No the US isn't always the good guy....
I guess there are other things to worry about now though...those who are alive and trapped in the WTC....and major investigations.
It is hard to pinpoint perpetraders now, but easy to point fingers...I keep saying to myself "we have to trust dubbya, we have to trust dubbya....."

I have just seen the pictures and videos for the first time. I am at a loss for words, but not tears. I pray that God watches over the continued search and rescue, the families and friends to those lost, and our nation as we move to retaliate against this horror. 9/11/01 I work at VERIZON in Boston .I was on the phone with our N.Y. office when the girl on the other end of the phone is saying ' oh my god I just saw a plane go into the WTC ' . I dropped the phone ran to the big boss' secretary and made her call the NY office . She put it on speaker phone ,the phone was picked up & we heard no "hello" the only thing we heard was 'oh my god the wtc ,what the hell is going on' . I felt sick to my stomach .I still can't believe this . I was ill all night.

9/12/01 I go back to work to hear that the Verizon building in NY which is a BLOCK AWAY has a hole in the side of it . WE had beefed up security in our office ,we had to line up so security could see our badges and look at our faces .One man was actually mad & said and I quote " You guys are making me late to work in these stupid checkpoint lines and pointing me out because I am middle eastern " Mind you everyone was getting checked out this way.I am ashamed to say I wanted to punch his lights out. To see the security guards do that this morning made me feel better going to work.
My prayers are with all the lost souls& their loved ones.

I know that alot of people, of all different religions believe that numerology plays a big role in the happenings around us. As I have not been a student of numerology, just started learning it myself a few weeks ago my hope was simply that someone who studies numerology or has for several years may have seen some sort of connection. I do realise there is no 14 in numerology, and it would be 5. Perhaps some people, including myself are grasping at straws, or maybe there is a clue inside the numbers. My apologies for bringing it up, it is something I felt and feel very strongly about, I will search for my answers somewhere else. Thank you for your time.

Perhaps I should back-pedal a little here...

LiR, I sincerely ment no ill intent in my post questioning the possible numeric clues. I was really questioning the clues from the standpoint of someone who knows nothing about numerology, and therefore has no idea how powerful it is supposed to be. I did not intend to attack you or your deeply held beliefs. If I caused you any upset, then I do apologize. :(

As for brining up this topic, I'm glad you did. I think it's something that others would be interested in discussing - perhaps you could even start a separate thread so we can discuss just this angle? There is already another thread where some of us are discussing the (possible) predictions of Nostradomus (sp?) and others relating to current events.

These people were interested in one number and one number only - the death count. The planes, their flight numbers, their seat numbers, their rental car licence plates... just the most convieniant choices, same as you and I make. The only 'special' number was probably the date.

Well, actually, it was 3 hits. The fourth plane didn't make it to its intended target. And from what I keep hearing, one of the 3 wasn't technically a hit either.

Well, it was an even more horrid day here than the day before. My boyfriend's sis-in-law found out that one of her cousins was aboard United 93. She left a message on for her husband on their machine. we've been a mess, i still have the feeling of helplessness. I can't even concentrate long enough to foucs my thoughts or any energy. We sat outside and had candles lit with the rest of the neighborhood, but all i can do is cry. Cry and get angry.

Yet, I am grateful. Very grateful, that many of my friends who were down there are alive and safe. Grateful that i've heard from so many of my family, friends and business associates from all over the country and world. Grateful to you all that in the chat room tues. evening you put up with all my babbling.

I know my family and I will get through this. I know my town, state & country will get through it. but for now.....for now i will just tell my family i love them and hug my son a billion times.

I've been trying not to worry too much since all this has happened. I have a friend who worked in the second tower of the WTC (I'm not sure which floor). I worked 3 blocks away when I lived in NY. This has been the first time since this has happened that I have turned away from CNN, because I keep hoping that I'll see her come out, one way or another. No one has heard from her or her husband since before this happened. I think Saturday was the last time someone spoke to her.
I saw those buildings come down and it was like someone cut out my own heart, like someone took family away from me. I haven't been there in a couple of years, but I think New York will always be home to me, and I'm angry that someone invaded my home and killed our families and friends. My first instinct was to get in the car and head to NY, but what was I going to do once I got there? Wander around to all the hospitals like hundreds of others, trying to find some glimmer of hope? All I figure I can do now is try to comfort anyone I can and keep vigil for my friends.

Okay, I've had some brighter news.

They pulled out 5 firefighters a little bit ago, ALL ALIVE!!!! So, Dextra, hang on to that hope. There are still chances people will be found, alive.

when i got back here to work, i finally got an email from my friend who was thought missing! He's just been so busy, helping out, that he hadn't had a chance to get back to anyone. Plus, his family is not one for sharing information. But I digress....

After feeling like a helpless fool, I had the radio on in the car, and one of the stations said the Home Depot will be taking donations tommorow for the Rescue workers, so i came back to work and put a notice up to send stuff in and I will drop it off tomm.

Doing this makes me feel better. Now, that I heard from my friend, I think I can concentrate a little better and help those who aren't as fortunate as I, like my co-worker and people in my neighborhood.

Everyone, if you want to, check with your local Home Depot and see if they are doing anything, espeically if you live near or in NY.

Yes it was, just one of the theory's why the plane that crashed in PA was headed toward Camp David. Has anyone heard anything new with the black box? It will probably take a few days to translate all the information, i guess. :confused:

Well this is SAD. I work at Verizon in Boston . We have our systems running today and they offer us overtime to close out all the accounts for New York.....as we look down and see the addresses we all (males & females ) begin to weep...World Trade Center ,Manhattan ....The usual jovial & wize cracking crowd is in a sullen silence of occasional sniffles as we do our sad job.
At the end of the evening there was not kleenex in the office to be found . At 9 pm all us remaining workers went outside across the street to a nice park did our own small vigil ,we lit a few candles & everyone said a prayer of their liking for all the victims.
Then we cried all the way to the train station..
Tomorrow we are all going to Mass General Hospital to give blood .
I pray this passes & more good people come out of this tragedy.

I thought I had heard that GWB had talked to China and that they "had an understanding"?......China would be sort of a deadly enemy, considering their numbers....because supposedly we want to launch both air, sea, and land. On land a large group like China would certainly hurt us....but not to get ahead of myself..

because evidently a lot of things are being reported before they are validated , which is not a good thing ...... we need reliable information to make decisions....... and not knowing whether something is true or not just adds to the confusion, for me anyway .......
Most of the information about the people detained yesterday at the New York Airports was not true ............ sheeesh
and I think a treaty like that would have warranted more attention on the news as well .........

I heard that about people detained too... and that it was false information or they were innocent... yet I can point out on CNN where it says that 8 people were caught with false IDs and trying to get through, including one who was carrying a false pilot's license. I've also heard that some officials tested one airport by trying to get through holding I believe some sort of utility knife and another one with a corkscrew... and they got through!!! (also shown on CNN)....

It's the best thing that could have happened.

Instead of hating Americans, they will have a bunch of Chinese coming into their country. There would be a brief conflict with NATO, but when the dust settled, they would end up hating their new Chinese oppressors more than their distant Western ones. Remember, the Taliban is EXTREMELY intolerant of foreign cultures of ANY sort! They already make their own native hindus wear those armband thingys, and they would most likely not abide by the concessions necessary to maintain good relations with their non-muslim allies.

I didn't think so, but the possibility was always there. Anyway, China would ally with ANYONE if they could get a legitimate excuse to annex Taiwan. That is probably the biggest issue with the Chinese people to date.

The recent tragedy has touched all of us. I, like many of you, am praying for peace and for justice. I also find myself struck by a clear thought, if justice demands war are we willing to pay it's horrible price? This has been a question that has plauged me for the last few days and it is but one of the fears that leaves me wide awake in the dead of the night.

I had the good fortune not to lose any one of my kith and kin on tuesday. My roomate, however, has lost two dear friends. My classmates have lost friends and family. The college has lost many alumnae, many members of the family that is known as the College of Notre Dame of Maryland. Many people are demanding war, but I suspect it is for vengance sake. Our pain, as a nation, blinds us to the peril around us right now.

Our peace has been a fragile and tenious thing. I understand that. But just because some monstrous group decided to take a crack at destroying it, does that mean we should abandon our efforts to preserve it. All life is sacred to me, it was a tragedy and I will have nightmares for a long time of watching those buildings collapse. Yes, a part of my heart wants revenge, it wants to wound the people responcible as deeply as we have been.

But that desire for revenge runs counter to my values. All life is sacred to me. I may lay down my life for justice, but I will not sacrifice the lives of others for the dead. They would not want it. I guess that's all I wanted to say on this. May the Lady and Lord hold you close to their heart and protect you and your kin always.

The bottom line is war was declared upon us... If we do not defend ourselfs the lives lost Tuesday will be only the beginning of our lives in FEAR. I will not live like that. Our nation is strong...it will not live like that. If we do not fight back you might as well give up now.

Willow, I was just watching a report on the Taliban and Afganastan. Apparantly, the Taliban, although the rulers of Afganastan, are not supported by the whole country. They are systematically executing anyone who challenges them for the seat of gov't. However, there are several groups within Afganastan, and just because China may have allied itself with the Taliban, in no way means that they are not in fear of terrorist attack by another group within Afganastan.

In fact, one of those rebel groups has given us permission to set up defense headquaters in their region, near the Chinese border.

Remember, China doesn't like us very much. That certainly was established this past winter. Many countries who may have given aid to bin Laden have spoken out against the attack, but they may have had ulterior motives.

I do not fear that a World War will occur on the scale that involves superpowers as enemies. I think part of the restraint that the superpowers display is because of the knowledge of the extent of destruction that could occur... and the smallers countries dont know that the experience of having huge countries to run tempers the responses.
I know a lot of people are recommending restraint, economic sanctions....and or sneak attacks in the night..... etc etc......these are unrealistic I think......as alternatives to engaging in a war similar to the Gulf.
I think that those considerations ... well intentioned , dont take the time factor into account.
If we allow these monsters more time..... they may carry out another debacle. Economic restrictions could take months..... and these people have resources stockpiled. "Sneak attacks" ..... why endanger our soldiers in what would be tantamount to another suicide mission, when we can do what we can to protect them as well?? That kind of "commando raid" ....while it might look good in the movies... is not feasible in the Afghan Mountains ...... and also might require more time than is safe to allow......and I think we have lost any element of "surprise" that couls have assisted us.
The kind of waiting and planning that went into the terrorist attack plainly shows that they will not stop and may have other actions planned as well . They started a war......we have been in an undeclared war since it began.
I think we have no choice but to defend ourselves, swiftly, and with only the restraint needed to protect what further innocent life we can , Goddess help us.

As a Canadian, this doesn't directly affect me.

To say the truth, I didn't think much of the planes when I first heard it in my math class Tuesday morning. I was totally, Yeah right, You're full of it. I then watched the news, for hours on end, before band, after band, the next morning, watching over and over the horrid film strips of the planes hitting the towers. Over and over, as a captivated as a deer is by headlights, but I kept thinking, this is crazy, there is no way that this is happening.

My one friend keeps blaming the states for this. She says that the US should have been more careful in the other wars, that the US didn't have to drop that second bomb. I, on the other hand, think in a neutral fashion. The US has been in other minor wars, not like world wars, and has come out okay. I know that the US can take care of itself, and should the need for help arise, they'll get more than they need.

I appologize, for taking this so lightly before. It was wrong, and now feel scarred because of the film strips, because of reading your shock and terror. You are more than American citizens, You are family. I also appologize for not being able to donate my blood. I'd donate my body if I didn't have so many people here to take care of. I am sceduled to donate in October, and I plan to donate as often as I can.

My best wishes, prayers, and heart goes out to you America.

I completely agree with you. I don't want to just sit back and wait and see what they'll do next. And it's not as if the armed forces aren't willing to go and fight. There was an outbreak of people signing up for the different military braches. I'm not really sure if people from other countries can understand Americans (and this is just my stupid brain thinking stupid stuff.. don't mind me). Of all the people I know in other countries, none of them are as patriotic as Americans. This is our home. They attacked our home, they attacked our freedom, and they attacked our friends and our family. We, as a country, are not just going to sit back and take it.

Last night, one of the radio stations asked everyone in town, if they could, to gather together, at any place possible, bring candles and just be proud to be living in this great country. It was amazing. My friend Jami and I brought cookies, some other guy brought soda for everyone (has to have costed a fortune!!), people brought extra candles and sparklers and flags... and we were all perfect strangers before this. There were tons of kids yelling out to the cars, "Honk if you love America!!" It was the sweetest thing in the world. It's amazing to see us, as a country, coming together, regardless of race, religion, creed, sex, or age. One of the guys had his stereo system up, as loud as it would go, and a radio station was playing patriotic and uplifting music. They played We Are the World.. and when it started, all of us held hands and sang at the top of our lungs. It was the most beautiful moment of my life, standing shoulder to shoulder with people I didn't know, singing, dancing, and being proud. I am damn proud to be an American. I will do whatever I have to do to fight for my country.

I really think that because we bicker and argue ( what a freedom) that sometimes we give the impression we cant pull together......
I dont necessarily think we are "more patirotic" than everyone else.......... but I do think its sweet that we can really be together when it is necessary ........
I wish so deeply NO ONE had to fight for anything ......... but I am proud of you for feeling that way I HOPE that what ever happens happens swiftly and is over with just as swiftly .
