ok, a question....have you amazed yourself with a reading at how accurate it was? Or gotten feedback by a person that was amazed? Tell me what you "predicted" or said that was so amazing! :abanana:

Well, I don't mean to brag, but this usually happens to me. I have a very different style than many other readers -- at least the readers that were prevalent where I used to live in PA. I'm hoping to compare notes against other readers here in the CoT tarot class so we'll see. But, I always try to remain vague at first and let the "readee" fill in the details for the reader. Too often when others would read for me, they'd tell me what the cards meant to me and as they did, they were often wrong. So, I try to simply tell the readee what the cards mean and what they could mean in different situations. Then, as the readee provides more information or details to me about what I'm reading from the cards I start to fill in the gaps. This constructivist method of tarot reading, as I call it, seems to work really well in my experience.

I recently did a pet reading for a friend of mine living in Texas. His puppy dog's name is Iggy.

One of the cards that came up was the Moon. I was having some trouble working it out and was asking if he was a Cancer (he was), I also mentioned that some things may be hidden or "shadowy" lately (he was having relationship issues) but then I said, "You know what, this is about Iggy.... have you been hiding his toys?"

My friend explained to me that he HAD been hiding the toys because his obedience instructor had told him to, the idea was that the HUMAN decides when playtime will be, not the animal.

I just thought that was interesting. :)

no not really...I touch on small things, for instance, I did a reading for my Aunt and one of the cards was a Page, but I forget offhand which one, but it dealt with education...I told her one of her grandkids probably will call with news of school, possibly an A on a test, etc.....and she said "wow, James just called yesterday to tell me he made the honor roll".....things like that, but nothing HUGE :) how about you Moonshine? Cough up some experiences!

This constructivist method of tarot reading, as I call it, seems to work really well in my experience. This is how I read them for people as well. People seem to respond well. I haven't really set up any system of feedback, so only if it's "freakin' amazing" does anyone think to tell me. Actually, though, I have a friend who doesn't want me to read for him again, because the cards suggested he'd come into some money or some kind of wealth, and then his grandmother died and left him a lot of money. ^_^ It sounds cliche, I know, but it's a true story, at least in this case. And being that I think of tarot, or most other divination, as a snapshot in time--if things were to remain the way they are, then this is what would most likely happen--I often give them advice on what influences in their life are affecting what, and if they like it, keep it up, if they don't, then they know what to change, rather than just a "this is what will happen, this is what's happening"... It is deliberately more vague, I know, but I'm not interested in performance (though I do work in theatre), just helping people see the patterns in their lives. (That's not a critique on anyone here, just the readers whom I've met who feel awefully contrived.)
