Recently I've read an article in a newspaper that told about incences and other fragrance-spreading devices could cause cancer. The others included devices from some bigger companies we know here in Holland which, I presume, dont have a "construction method/use of materials/use of fragrances and how to make them" that is very different from (for instance) US companies creating the same devices.
What do you people think about this?
I have no link regarding the article, and if i'd found it it would be in Dutch, but i'll go and try to find it now anyway. Still. These people mentioned very clearly that Incense could be a cause of cancer.

Now a days it seems that everything can be a potential cause for cancer. The food we eat, water we drink, even the mere air we breath.

Technically, the sun causes cancer so there's not much you can do to get away from it. I'll still burn my inscence when I get home from work ;)

Everything causes cancer it seems. I wouldn't worry about it.

Smoke in general is harmful to your lungs because of particulate matter. Smoke that contains chemicals, such as incense, is more harmful, because your body has to process the chemicals. That's not to say that smelling incense once in a while is going to give you cancer, but rather that burning it constantly is hard on your body.

Oooh i found an article discussing the same subject (dutch :/)
It says that this was that for incenses, it was only for some japanese incences that were burned all day long in the temples etc. Certain chemicals are inserted, which arent put into our western incenses :))
wooohoo :)

I dont think we should be as worried about "causes" of cancer as we should about prevention and treatment of it. Cancer is really not as much of an abnormality as we think of it. It's actually almost a normal part of cellular aging. I remember hearing that somewhere, though I'm not sure where. Either way, it doesn't really concern me. I eat my veggies. ^^

Bah, EVERYTHING seems to cause cancer, and somehow I'm not surprised that incense was added to the list. I still wear deoterant even though the aalluminum in it goes right into my pores after shaving and is going to "give me cancer", I still use floride toothpaste even though that apparently will "give me cancer", and I use microwaves even though its going to "give me cancer". So I'll keep my incense burning too, and I may even pretend I never read this. ^_~

Agreed. While we need to take care of ourselves and be healthy, this cancer craze is getting a tad overdone.
