I think me asking for an interpretation of my first reading got lost amongst my small thread. So I'm looking for your insights:
So my question to the cards were What things do I need to work on at my current job?
I was recently passed up for a new position. My boss thought that I would be bored in this new job & that I need more of a challenge. I'm still a bit beat up about it, it felt like she didn't have any confidence in me to handle the new position. But I can see her point. I work in a very creative job right now and the new position was supervising a group that I used to work for. All they really do is run numbers. So I can see what she meant by being bored because I am more of an out-of-the-box thinker.
So I asked the cards what I could work on whether it being staying where I am, because we are getting more involved in design work, or finding a new job within or outside my job. Either way there are things I need to work on, learn, better myself at.
The cards I pulled.
Past Influencer position: Seven of Wands
Present Situation position: Six of Wands
Future Possibilities position: Ace of Cups
And I pulled an extra card, maybe as an extra bit of advice. I got the Ten of Wands.
Thoughts?

The seven in the past influencer position, as you put it, seem to me to represent a dreamy time. A time when things were probably less focused or less clear to you. Now, however, the six of wands tells me that you might end up seeing a lot of activity -- espcially working with a group towards a common goal. The Ace of Cups is interesting in contrast to all those Wands popping up all over the place. It usuall represents happiness and fulfillment, a time when life is good. I'll leave you to fill in the blanks with what you can do to reach that fulfillment.
The ten of wands is the bane of my existence. I can never read that card. It represents passion especially the passion someone feels when they have a new or exciting idea or project to complete. It's a very focused passion, though, not like the out of control reversed ace of wands.

Past Influencer position: Seven of Wands
I usually see the 7 of Wands has having to hold your position against opposing forces. You are the King of the Mountain and there's lots of people waiting to knock you down and take over your kingdom. Did you feel recently that you had to be defensive at your job?
Present Situation position: Six of Wands
This is the "victory / accomplishment" card. In the present situation, being overlooked for that other job, this may not seem like it makes very much sense. Perhaps looking at it from the angle that your boss does repspect your abilities and feels that you can perform and be happier where you are is the way to go. She is sort of giving you a compliment, you're doing very well where you are. Does that make sense?
Future Possibilities position: Ace of Cups
Aces are about new beginnings. Cups are about emotions. This card in the future position of a career spread would indicate that you may get an opportunity to do something you really love to do. Now, I'm not sure if that will be with your current job, or at a new one, take a close look at opportunities that are presented to you.
And I pulled an extra card, maybe as an extra bit of advice. I got the Ten of Wands. The 10 of Wands indicates a feeling of being overwhelmed or overworked. I use RWS based decks and it is usually an image of a man trying to carry way too many spears or sticks. He is trudging along stoically, but he'd probably love a break. Dashifen mentioned that this card means passion, and wands generally do, but remember that there is such a thing as "too much of a good thing".
Let me know if any of this makes sense, or if it helps at all. Thanks! :)

No that makes perfect sense. Its amazing to find out others views on certain cards too. I thought that the Tens were an ending of a cycle. But that's just by the book that I was reading. It makes more sense that its an overwhelming card, my deck shows the man with the spears on his back. I just assumed he was heading home (end of cycle) type thing. But I am extremly overwhelmed at work lately.
Thank you for your help! I'm going to take the time to really think about what you said in your interpretation. Work is just to busy right now to do that. :bigblue:

What deck do you use LisaT4P? I use Vertigo and it always surprises me the way different decks are sometimse completely different even based on the same card. I'd like to see the image on your 7 of wands, which is why I asked. If I have the deck, I can just go look at it :)
I can see your point on the 10 of wands showing a burden. Hadn't pulled that off of my card before, but going back to look at it (I have all the card digitized on my computer so that I can look at them whenever I need to) it shows a face with the 10 wands above the face ... could show someone overwhelmed and what not ... gonna think on that one for a while :) Thanks!
Edit: added my 7 o' wands for kicks. looking at it I can see the defensive quality of the wands at the top, especially how only one is "lit" but the face always seems to show an energy that is dreamlike or out-of-focus. Guess it depends on the reading, too.

Dashifen, most of the decks I use have an image of the 7 of Wands as a man defending his territory against someone coming at him with lots of spears. A few of the decks I can think of off hand are the Robin Wood, DruidCraft, Nigel Jackson, Rider Waite, and I'm sure many others have the same imagery if they're based off of the Rider Waite Smith cards. The image I usually call to mind is the one from Robin Wood. I'd be happy to scan it tomorrow if you'd like to see it. :)

Sure. I have the rider-waite so I'll look at that one. I could never read from that deck, though, as the images never made sense to me. Course, probably explains why my interpretations are all over the place since the Vertigo doesn't always use the traditional imagery outside of the Major Arcana.
