my grandma gave me a few pieces of limonite... i was wondering if it has any magical properties or whatnot. Its really cool, its black and forms in almost perfect cubes! if anybody can tell me anything else about it, it would be great.

limonite is form of petrified iron (for the lack of better geological terms)

for magical uses see at iron, and you will have limonite.

try with a compass - when the needle shows a reaction you can be sure it is magnetized limonite, probably naturally magnetized. then you can also look inthe loadstone (magnetite) section.

the best book i d recommend is Melodys Kalaidoscope of minerals for that matter.
