Merry Meet,
I am designing my Yule ritual but I haven't yet decided which deity couple to invoke.I am probably going to choose Lugh, although I have never worked with him again.since I see him associated with Yule as he is a fire and light God(if I am not mistaken) and Brigid because she is one of my goddesses and a fire Goddess herself.
So what deities are you gonna invoke and why?

I plan to honor my two primary deities, Lord Loki & Lord Amaethon.

But others I will honor will be Lord Taranis, The Dagda, Lady Caillech, Lord Govannon, & Lady Coventina.

If I'm working on my own for Yule I generally tend to call the Cailleach, and not a god. That's my reconstructionist side coming through to a certain degree, tho, because Yule was not celebrated in Ireland, so I take it as a chance to talk with a winter goddess, and hear some of her wisdom before Bríd becomes the more prominent of the pair again.

I sometimes mark the season with Wiccan ritual, but since I am a polytheist who works (on my own, at least) with the one pantheon Yule is a bit weird - pairiing Irish deities at this time of year is tricky. I won't be having my own ritual this year, tho, so it's a moot point.

This year, tho, I have two coven events. One coven is calling Tarawet and Sobek, honouring the rebirth of Osiris, and the other I don't have a damn clue who they're calling - it may just be the Wiccan Lord/Lady duo. Won't know until I get there.

I dont do the whole 'lord and lady' calling thing so I have no need for a pair of dieties, and for me Yule marks the centre of winter - the earth does not reawake until spring. For that reason I think I'm going to honour Mara, a 'dark' Anglo-Saxon goddess of the night and of night-mares, who has been calling to me in this dark time of the year.

You know, I should be a little further along in the preparation of my Yule observance than I am at the moment. Offerings to purchase or create, prayers to write, etc. So, so, so much to do!

The standard offerings that are part of each ritual I do will include
-Mother Earth for her continued nurturing of all.
-Heimdall in his role as constant guardian of Bifrost and gatekeeper.
-the Shining Ones of Aesir and Vanir.
-my ancestors.
-the Wild Kin about be in time and space.

Special offerings will be raised at Yule for
-Odhinn in his role as leader of the Wild Hunt
-Frigg and the Disir for their continued protection as winter comes full strength
-Sol will be praised and encouraged to ride hard to escape the wolves that would eat the sun
-Freyr will be honored with oaths for the Neu Jahr

Wow, now that I have listed them out, I realize just how far behind in preparation I am!

I'm going to be attending my local ADF Yule Blot (it's a Norse/Celtic grove) and I don't know who they're calling.

Other than that, I'm not even sure I'm doing a ritual, persay. I might do something involving the Cailleach like Morgandria.

For my Yule ritual I plan to call Cernunnos and Cerridwen, but I'm not sure. I might call Isis ans Horus.

Here is the prayer from the Sigurdrifasmal that I used to invoke the deities at the blot I hosted:

Hail to thee day, all hail day's sons
Hail night and daughters of night
With gracious eyes look upon us here
And grant to us victory

Hail the Gods, hail the Goddesses
Hail the mighty, bountiful Earth
Goodly speech and spells we ask of thee
And healing hands in this life

This was directed at the Aesir and Asynjor and all beneficial wights. Nott is the Goddess of night in the Northern pantheon. Dag is the deity of Day.
