View Full Version : The perfect guy

December 18th, 2004, 12:37 AM
My friends and I have been making lists of what we think the perfect guy would be. What do you think?

He’ll laugh at the wrong moment

He’ll keep his hand on the small of my back to lead me the right way

While he’s falling asleep he’ll let me rub under his chin

He’ll quote songs

He won’t mind going to parks and swinging on tire swings until we feel sick

He’ll keep his arms around me even when my mom is around

He’ll tell his friend he loves me even when I’m not there

He’ll lisp only slightly and laugh about it

He’ll tower over me and put his chin on my head while we hug

He’ll hold my hand in the movies

He’ll write a song about me. Even if it’s just lyrics

He’ll say stupid things to try to impress me

He’ll take his time and always let me know he cares

He’ll reassure me of his love, and let me cry when I need to

He’ll speak his mind and never apologize for his opinions

My arms will be able to wrap around him.

His stomach will curve in so I can run my fingers all over him.

He won’t drink because he’ll know I hate it

He’ll wear a hat that hangs over his eyes even in the summer

He’ll rub my back when I’m sick or maybe when he thinks I need it

He won’t cling but I’ll always know he’s there

He’ll always be mine and will hardly ever look at another girl

He’ll be affectionate but not trying to get me into bed

He’ll run trace silly messages on my arm because he knows it gives me chills

Whenever we see a gum machine he’ll spring for two gumballs

He’ll smell like laundry detergent

He’ll know useless facts about totally random things

He will tell me about new bands that he think I’ll like

Every Christmas he’ll make me a mixed tape with songs that “fit” us

He’ll make really good sandwiches

We’ll go caroling in apartment complexes

He’ll have a gap in his front teeth that makes him look silly and adorable

His eyes will squint when he laughs

He’ll have an awesome grandfather that absolutely loves us

He won’t feel awkward at family gatherings and if he doesn’t he’ll still try his best

In school, he'd motion "I love you" from across the room

He'd write me notes and say silly stuff like "you're so pretty" and "I love you bunches"

He'd laugh when I put on his shoes and they're too big.

We’ll share ice cream every night.

He won’t think it’s weird that I prefer frozen whipped cream

He loves to watch movies while drinking off brand orange soda and eating half frozen burritos

He’ll be my best friend

Sorry all, but I'm a sap. Go ahead, add to the list _inlove_

Just because it's one person's "perfect guy" doesn't mean that all the qualities (I suppose) fit for each person. Most of those posted I don't find would fit for me.

My friends and I have been making lists of what we think the perfect guy would be. What do you think?

He’ll laugh at the wrong moment

Yes. It's only fair since I do it.

He’ll keep his hand on the small of my back to lead me the right way

No. He will keep his hands off and let me go where I wish.

While he’s falling asleep he’ll let me rub under his chin

No. While he's falling asleep he will be kicked repeatedly. If I can't sleep, he can't sleep.

He’ll quote songs

...and die. I hate that mess.

He won’t mind going to parks and swinging on tire swings until we feel sick

Yes. Of course, he better go get me a cup of peppermint tea to settle my stomach afterward.

He’ll keep his arms around me even when my mom is around

Um...

He’ll tell his friend he loves me even when I’m not there

What for? I'd rather him tell me he loves me. Screw what they think.

He’ll lisp only slightly and laugh about it

...and get made fun of... by me.

He’ll tower over me and put his chin on my head while we hug

You betcha.

He’ll hold my hand in the movies

No, he'll hold the food I snuck into the movies while I snack on it. Lousy theatre concession stands. :2G:

He’ll write a song about me. Even if it’s just lyrics

...and I will vomit all over him.

He’ll say stupid things to try to impress me

But of course.

He’ll take his time and always let me know he cares

If he doesn't I wouldn't be dating him.

He’ll reassure me of his love, and let me cry when I need to

Eh.

He’ll speak his mind and never apologize for his opinions

He better damn well apologize if they're stupid and illogical ones. I'm not dating a moron.

My arms will be able to wrap around him.

Is this pro-thin guys or anti-fat guys? In any event, I don't suppose I care.

His stomach will curve in so I can run my fingers all over him.

Ha! Good luck with that.

He won’t drink because he’ll know I hate it

So long as he isn't an alocholic in denial I could not care less.

He’ll wear a hat that hangs over his eyes even in the summer

So I can't see his eyes? What kind of shifty lil' man is this?

He’ll rub my back when I’m sick or maybe when he thinks I need it

...and I'll give him a word of advice: "Take them off or I'll break them off." People always hurt me when they give me back rubs.

He won’t cling but I’ll always know he’s there

If I know he's always there he's no longer the perfect man, but a stalker.

He’ll always be mine and will hardly ever look at another girl

He'll be mine till we're tired of each other and if he looks at a girl... well, then we have major problems.

He’ll be affectionate but not trying to get me into bed

Damn straight.

He’ll run trace silly messages on my arm because he knows it gives me chills

And I'll break his teeth. That shit freaks me out.

Whenever we see a gum machine he’ll spring for two gumballs

Or just one and give it to me. So long as I'm getting gum... eh.

He’ll smell like laundry detergent

Oh yes, that's sexy. A man who reminds me of the agony that is laundry.

He’ll know useless facts about totally random things

Sure will. I know so much it will eventually seep into his brain through osmosis while we kiss.

He will tell me about new bands that he think I’ll like

And I'll inform him of what bad taste in music he has most likely.

Every Christmas he’ll make me a mixed tape with songs that “fit” us

Ew. Ew, ew, ew, ew, ew. Sappy a bit, no?

He’ll make really good sandwiches

Fine, but my sandwiches are far superior.

We’ll go caroling in apartment complexes

If he wants to look like an idiot, that's fine. He's not dragging me down with him though.

He’ll have a gap in his front teeth that makes him look silly and adorable

Sexy.

His eyes will squint when he laughs

Um.... okay...

He’ll have an awesome grandfather that absolutely loves us

Whatever. But if his grandfather tries to love me I'll file sexual harassment charges.

He won’t feel awkward at family gatherings and if he doesn’t he’ll still try his best

Why shouldn't he? I feel awkward at them.

In school, he'd motion "I love you" from across the room

And I'll throw a pencil at him. Stop trying to distract me while I'm learning, sheesh!

He'd write me notes and say silly stuff like "you're so pretty" and "I love you bunches"

Sappy, sappy, sappy.

He'd laugh when I put on his shoes and they're too big.

Is there a hidden meaning here? Am I missing it? Anyone?

We’ll share ice cream every night.

Hell no. I've had enough cavities thank-you-very-much.

He won’t think it’s weird that I prefer frozen whipped cream

I find this to be so utterly irrelevant.

He loves to watch movies while drinking off brand orange soda and eating half frozen burritos

Well, if he wants to poison his body.... so be it.

He’ll be my best friend

Definitely.

This just goes to show you that your perfect guy and my perfect guy are worlds apart. ;)

My perfect guy... hmmm... well... Is one that I can trust, and that loves will or will love me. Trust is very important to me. I have had it broken far too many times, So its hard for me to trust anymore. But I am trying to again. And also is a guy that has a sense of humor. And I don't care about looks at all. I never really have. Its more the person inside that I look for. I only talk to people that I like the person inside. If for any reason I get a bad feeling about them whether it be a friend or not, I won't talk to them.. Being a strong empath I can get these feelings really easy, some people give me the shivers when I see them. I put a lot into trust in a relationship. And I hope to get it back as well. So summing it up, my perfect guy is trustworthy and loving and funny, and I like it when guys protect me. Yes I am old-fashioned I know. Just once in my life I would like to be saved somehow by my hero. *laughs at herself* I hope I am not being hopeless here. I also look for a guy who really cares about animals. Nature in general. :) Just a all around sweetie. :) I hope I have meet this guy too. ;) you know who you are. And I hope I don't make you sad or down anymore. :) I know, you people are saying what a sap right? lol..

I would want him to balnce me out, and I would want him to be clam when I'm not! And I would love to have a bit of the smat ass thing too! hehe And most of all I would want to have fun and realx with him! :uhhuhuh:

People always hurt me when they give me back rubs.

Oh you are so not the only one. It used to be a huge thing that I couldn't get back rubs from anybody, becuse it ALWAYS hurt. Apparently, it wasn't me though, it was just finding the right person, because The Mate has yet to hurt me when he rubs me, whther it's my back or elsewhere. (Get your minds out of the gutter, I meant my legs and such, Sheeesh.)

Perhaps it's the same for you.

If theres one thing Ive found that its that 90% of girls, even if the know exactly what they want, if they find it they wont care to do anything about it, or simply wont notice him. It sucks, I have no idea how many times Ive had a galfriend cry to me about her perfect guy, and its exactly how they discribed whats his name three weeks ago, or worse yet, its exactly how they described me after my last breakup... *shakes head*. To those of ye ladies that are more sensible, I salute you, and you have my thanks.

now that i know what i don't want...
I think being single is great. I want a good freind with a facinating mind who will go on adventures w/ me and let me have my own life as he has his. I want someone who has a clue, knows where they are going and actually has the cojones to gett off their bum an make their life the way they want it.
Physical would be a plus, but...i can wait until i meet someone I would have a good rapport with not based on the fact all they want is you know what.
For everything else....there are toys.

My perfect guy, I'm not asking for much, I just want someone who'll be himself, will hold me at night, will give me a hug when I've had a hard day at work, who opens doors (don't know why but I like having doors opened for me :) ), who doesn't mind sitting down at the dinner table to eat, who will watch chick flicks once in a while, and most of all, will make the first move, what can I say, I'm a shy one when it comes to guys!

While he’s falling asleep he’ll let me rub under his chin
I can't stand someone messing with me when I'm trying to sleep.

He’ll keep his arms around me even when my mom is around
I'm in my thirties. This really isn't an issue.
He’ll tell his friend he loves me even when I’m not there
Why? What possible difference could it make?

He’ll say stupid things to try to impress me
Things like, "You chicks store fat for the winter in your thighs, don't you?" Be careful what you wsh for.

He’ll take his time and always let me know he cares

He’ll reassure me of his love, and let me cry when I need to
If you love each other, why do you need reassurance? Never understood that one.

He’ll speak his mind and never apologize for his opinions
Well, at least until he says something about crazy female drivers.

My arms will be able to wrap around him.

His stomach will curve in so I can run my fingers all over him.
Careful. I think these two might be mutually exclusive.

He’ll rub my back when I’m sick or maybe when he thinks I need it
See, that's another thing. This business of expecting guys to be mind readers. Why not say, "I could really use a back rub."

He’ll always be mine and will hardly ever look at another girl
You've completely torpedoed you chances with this one. EVERY guy looks. He should be inconspicuus about it, not openly gawk, but expecting a guy not to look is like expecting a shark to be a vegetarian. It's just not in the software.

He will tell me about new bands that he think I’ll like

I figure I'm dealing with a grown woman who's perfectly capable of picking her own bands.

He’ll have a gap in his front teeth that makes him look silly and adorable
The David Letterman look...

He’ll have an awesome grandfather that absolutely loves us
What happens when his grandfather croaks? Will he become less perfect?

*nods* I stand with my origional thought of "most women dont know what they want, and if they do they dont know how to recognize it". Its really that simple. Most of those things are that odd or bad, though it seems that the person writing was in their teenage-early 20's.

I don't know--I have my perfect man and he is absolutely NOTHING like what I ever dated or was married to in the past. My advice...take your list and chuck into the fire. DO NOT discount anyone just because they don't fit something on a list.

I've had my list fulfilled in the past and got my heart broken by the jerk.

Get off the treadmill of what you've done in the past...it is an awesome thing.

Look him/her in the eye...place your hand on their heart and have them do the same. You'll know if they are right or not in that moment. (that came from my mate--and he is very correct.)

JMO and YMMV,

Elise
