I have been having a recurring dream and I have NO idea what it means. Input would be appreciated.
In the dream, I have been raped. That doesn't happen in the dream, but I KNOW it did. Apparently, I shot the guy in the face but the gun didn't do much damage to him, just succeeded in really pissing him off.
The rest of the dream is him coming after me. I flag down a car for someone to take me to the hospital and the person does - but he finds me in the hospital and drags me out. I'm running, and I see an area where I can pry off a section of wood from a wall or something and hide behind it - but when I put the section of wood back to hide me, it's an obvious place and he finds me again.
This type of thing goes on for a long time. Me running and hiding in various places, and him finding me somehow.
Finally, he catches me... and he spits in my face. Several times.
Then I wake up.
Thoughts?

Well I'm no expert or anything but I thought I'd put my 2 cents worth in... a rape broken down to basic symbolism is a violation: of your body, your mind, your personal space. Have you experienced anything that feels like a violation of sorts on those areas? Or alternatively do you feel someone has taken something from you against your will, or taken credit for something that you have accomplished? This dream may be a way of "balancing the scales" so to speak... standing up for yourself in the dream world where you couldn't seem to in real life for whatever reason. Your running and hiding from him suggests that you may also be trying to distance yourself from someone or something that is not good for you in real life as well. You may or not realize that this person or thing is not good for you however... you could be "hiding" your own feelings from yourself on some level. His spitting in your face suggests that whatever this dream is dealing with, that there may be an element of humiliation or embarassment surrounding it, or that you fear other people's reactions to how you respond to it... Hope this has helped! :)

this dream to me is about control.. someone is or has taken your control of a situation or parts/all of your life away and you are fighting to get the control back.. they may have used methods of humiliation to try and make you give up your control.. when others help you to regain control the person is persistant in trying to stop you from having control of your life.. it could be a small thing or it could be something big.. either way if this is the case you need to stay strong and keep fighting.. suggests a sadistic expression of sexual desire. You may be expressing an unconscious desire to be violated, conquered, or forced into forbidden territory. Some women have a desire to be sexually overpowered, but not hurt. It also indicates vengeful feelings toward the opposite sex. Alternatively, it suggests that you are feeling violated in some way. Something or someone is jeopardizing your self-esteem and emotional well-being. You feel that someone or something is being forced upon you. Dreams of rape are also common for those who were actually raped in their waking life.

well the violation part is obvious..the thing that I honed in on is the spitting in your face, obviously disrespectful. I would say that someone close to you betrayed you in some way and when you became aware of it, it really brought you down and you think of all the times you helped this person and how they kept coming to you for help..and all the time they were disrespecting you, after having "violated" your trust. Your first instinct was to report the actions to someone, hence the police, but perhaps were persuaded not to..perhaps someone took credit for something you had accomplished and never acknowledged your contributions..I see someone, possibly a male figure, in a dark leather bomber type jacket with sandy blond/red preppy hair, maybe blue or green eyes..a real charmer..make any sense?

Well, my life IS out of control. Unemployed, no income, afraid of losing my home, my car, EVERYTHING.
However, nobody has taken those things away from me. I got fired in May, but it was certainly no one person's fault.
I do feel like I'm always running away from something that hurts me, or could hurt me. Maybe that has something to do with it.
