Questions about Yuletide

This is cutting it kind of close, but I wanted to ask before it was completely too late.

What sort of ritual should I perform to honor the Norse gods and goddesses? Should I do one at all, since I'm not Asatuar yet, or just do a simple toast?
Is there any substitutes I could use for a Yule log? I don't think my neighbors would be very appreciative of my cutting down their trees, and we have no money (at the fault of the sperm donor, but that's another issue) so I can't buy one.

I've got plenty of candles, insense, and I should have the appropriate herbs, if necessary.

I'm really new to all of this, but I want to at least try to do something along my spirtual path.

Um... whattaya mean, you're "not Asatuar yet"? What are ya waitin' for, to finish hangin' upside down for nine nights & nine days? :hehehehe: Use this opportunity to dedicate yourself to Odin & the Gods/desses of Asgard.

Raise a glass to the Gods, Our Ancestors. Toast three rounds... first round, Gods: toast a God/dess, or any or all of 'em. Second round, Heroes: toast a personal hero, or heroes. Third round, Boast: third round is sorta 'open'... sing a song, tell a story, speak boastfully (but TRUTHFULLY) of past deeds, or future hopes... during each round, it's a good idea to pour out a little libation for the Gods & the Land Wights.

If you've got a place to make a fire (safely & legally, of course), just gather up what you can, don't worry if you have a 'Yule log'... tie a bundle of stick together to serve as you Yule log...

Well, it's just that I wasn't sure if I had to be initiated into a group of somesort or anything beforehand but, I'm ready to go now. Sticks and toasts it shall be.
