View Full Version : Do you do a personal reading everyday?

I was wondering how many people do a reading for themselves each day? Like to pull out a card to meditate or see what the day will bring?

In a tarot book I was reading, the author suggested that if you do a personal reading each day, you might want to take out the major arcana cards. She didn't go into a lot of reasons why. Has anyone heard of that?

I try to, but a lot of times I have to admit I forget or just don't feel like it.

I've never heard of the whole minor-only thing. But I'm relatively new to this. :)

I'm in the same boat as Loopy. I try to.....but I forget more often than not.

I have not heard of the minor's only theory either.

I don't do one every day, but I probably do them several times a week. I always do them before I go to bed - for the next day.

Maybe they suggest only doing the minors b/c they deal with more of the every day living kind of thing? I use all of the cards.

Sometimes I do one everyday but lately I really haven't been at all. It depends on my mood and if anything is pressing me and I need an answer.

As for using only the minor cards I have a book that talks alot about it (tarot - the first handbook for the master by Connolly) but that method doesn't really suit me. I go with what feels right.

Good idea to do them the night before. One of my problem was finding time in the morning.

This is what the Wheel of Change Tarot said about taking out the Major Arcana...

"Take out the Major Arcana cards if readings are frequent. Although many books suggest using only the Major Arcana for readings, in my experience when doing frequent readings it may help to remove these cards from the deck. Major Arcana cards tend to refer to archetypal events, not daily travails. It is a way of honoring their deep meaning to remove them when using the cards frequently."

I tried doing that but the reading just didn't feel right. I want to start doing daily readings but don't want to overuse my cards.

Runes are soooo much easier! :p

Is what I always say ~ I wouldnt go with what a book says it doesnt feel right for you...
Thanks for the info, I do disagree with that though.. and over use? Ive never heard of that ~ In my opinion you cant read with your cards enough. (but then some go crazy and use there cards for every decision and everything.. thats excessive!)

I tend to go with my mood too ~ some weeks I do draw daily cards every day to just keep in mind throughout the day some weeks I dont.. this week (after tuesday) I havent read with them at all for myslef or anyone else and only drew on yesterday for the story here in tarot (If anyone wants to add to it ~ we need writters to have fun with ;))... Its wierd too because I was on the train down to London Tuesday morning and wanted them with me to read.. I hadnt thought of reading with them for a few days (the weekend) before that...

& when I draw I dont seperate the major and minor. I never do. It doesnt feel right.. they come as a deck together so should stay together in my opinion. They want to be together too ~ so they tell me :p

But again.. each to there own :)

When I first started with tarot I drew a card every day, I am sorry to say I don't do that anymore, however I try to do a personal reading once a week or so... :)
I don't pick out only the major arcana cards, but maybe I should give it a try, it could be interesting :)

I was doing a daily one card reading for myself- until last week. I used both Major and Minor together. A book that I have says to separate the Majors from the Minors and pull a card from each. The Major crad is the theme of the day and the minor is an event. This is from Complete Guide to Tarot. So I guess that goes to show, again, there is no one right way. :)

I hope that in a few more days I will be ready to start reading again.

I don't normally do readings for myself. . . whenever I try, I just can't inturpret the cards. I can't get any meanings out, they're just cards hehe wheras when I read for others, there's a hidden story or message. You know what I mean?

LOL so since I can't get anything for myself, I don't bother trying. I gave up after sitting staring blankly at the cards for about 20 minutes trying to figure out what the heck they meant. ^^; didn' twork too well
