Has anyone read about the Indus Valley Culture, and it's effects upon Modern Wiccan Traditions?

Thank you for the Link, Willow.

The reason I was asking, is that I am currently reading the "Origins of Modern Witchcraft....the Evolution of a World Religion" by Ann Moura. This is something she discusses within the first few chapters of her book. There is new archeological evidence which supports the thought that the Indus Culture, was actually the FIRST cultural system of the world, going back further than Mesopotamia and Sumeria, in fact. They have found many archaeological sites in India, to support this. The carbon dating puts it YEARS before either the Mesopotamian or Sumerian cultures, and traces of their art, etc, can be found in Mesopotamian and Sumerian findings, as well.

One of the findings that she made, was that the Indus Cultures (the Dravidians, namely)...worshipped one god, but with multi facets...a male facet/female facet Creator/destroyer concept. Very interesting stuff. I highly reccomend this book. I've only just started reading it..since i haven't been able to tear myself away from the news this week. But I will tell you more as I go along in the book.

Fascinating. I absolutely adore Ann Moura's work, and really appreciate the fact that she's such a historian. I think many Pagans should take more time looking into the history behind their beliefs, and even in her Green Witchcraft series Ann Moura has provided lots of information. Maybe I'll look up that book too :)
