Tiebetan Singing Bowls?

Hiya all :)
These are round brass (I think) bowls used for meditation and balancing the chakras. My Yoga teacher used one today while we were in meditation and it made me shiver all over and then I got images from one of my past lifes which I am currently working on (before the bowl sang I was concentrating on my charkra colours which were coming through..)..
My question is ~ Does anyone use a singing bowl? & does anyone know if these are used for divination or past life sourcing?

I actually saw a few in a local pagan shop a while ago and now Im really interested too :)
Im asking my mum for one for Christmas :) (we always by each other spiritual things..) ...especially after today!

They are so interesting!

You use one by cicling the wooden thingy around the bowl few about 30 seconds or a min ~ a short ammount of time... the sound vibrations that it gives of are the key I think!

Yes, my yoga teacher had used one in class too. The sound is so eerie. The vibrations goes right to your core. I've heard CD recordings & they are pretty good. There is a local book store here that carries the bowls.

I was at a China Exhibition this summer & they had a brass bowl on display. It was a bit different. It was much bigger & was filled with water. When you rubbed the rims, the vibrations make the water move & jump. The card said the vibrations & the rhytmic motions help the monks in meditation.

well now I am wondering what our bowls are really called??? I have only seen and used glass (crystal) bowls and thought they were tibetan bowls. I wonder if both brass and glass come from Tibet rituals and if the brass are as AWESOME as the glass ones.

The glass ones come in many sizes (and can be VERY expensive) and it is amazing how they affect (or should it be effect) you.

WOW! You can 'play' the glass ones? I've never seen a glass Tibetan singing bowl. Way cool!

I plan to get a singing bowl and some other Tibetan Artifacts ...... am very drawn to that culture have been for many years ......over twenty years...... I think........

Hiya Hope ~ the brass (they are actually supposed to be made out of all the metals combinned!) ones doo sound just as amazing as the Crystal/Glass ones!! :) and Im pretty sure they are called the same

Each Chakra has a sound or vibration associated with them. I would assume that hearing the tune would filter down into your chakras and help correct any imbalances. I think it works on the same levels as chanting. :D

My assumption is that sound is energy carried in waves. Our energy system picks up the energy surrounding us....kind of like when you can sense what others are feeling.....similar to that, you are actually sensing their energy. Of course, when we come into contact with "negative" energy, it sort of sticks in our system, hence the need for balancing. To learn more about the human energy system, try reading:

Yep, between the book and the videos, that is how I've learned about the human energy system. :D The videos are basically the same as the book....it's just demonstration, but I found them very helpful! :bubbles:

I had a dream about playing one of these bowls again the other night (have had four so far!) ~ I was up on this really bright warm but snowy mountain with a few other players and we were are playing our bowls ~ Its was incredible! ~ and since then it has been on my mind constantly..
Then yesterday I was driving past the shop and just had to stop, part up and walk back to talk to go in and talk to the guy who runs it.. and see the bowls again!
As soon as I opened the door he said started laughing and said he knew I would be coming in today! (I hadnt been in for over a month) & he had a singing bowl cd on playing!
Then I took one look at all the bowls, saw a new one I had never seen before shinning brightly at me and decided that I just had to get that one (hey what are credit cards for!) :sunny:
I didnt leave the shoip for another hour playing my new singing bowl ~ zinging from all the vibrations!

Its so transforming all the energy from the vibrations and the sound really goes right through you and sings to your chakra's! My one is for your top chakras and really makes sends you off to another place :)

I combinned it with my Reiki on myself last night and felt so at home and right afterwards! Not to mention the dreams I had :D

....Just had to sing to you all about my wonderful experience!

but I have wanted a Singing Bowl for many years.....and I am glad you got yours............

Im still loving mine and practise meditation with 'her' every week after I have done a yoga session for my pregnancy. I love the energy she gives out and her song..

I also feel/hear her soft stories and her voice of love :sunny:
