View Full Version : My daughter touched me deeply this morning

I had told her that something terrible had happened to our country on Tue when she came home from school. My precocious daughter decided she didn't want to see the pictures. So we've only been talking about the efforts of the government trying to catch these fanatics and how citizens are reaching out and giving and raising flags. This morning she asked me if I could put red, white and blue ponytail holders in her hair. she made me so proud that I wanted to cry, like I am now retelling this, but I knew she wouldn't understand why so I held it in and instead took pictures. She is only 8 yrs old but knows that she is American and proud to be one.
On a side note, RnR is too stunned to post. This has left him speachless. I'm sure he'll be back as soon as he figures out what he wants to say.

Sweet Blessings of the Goddess to your Daughter Sahm. I am proud of her too, and she isn't even MY daughter! I'm also proud of her mommy, who raised such a lovely little being. ((((((((((((((SAHMSDAUGHER))))))))))))))))))))))) thank you for sharing this story...very uplifting.
And if you speak to RNR, share our love with him...k?

I echo Gunner & Danustouch's thoughts SAHM.
Kids do understand quite a bit, and usually a simple statement says more than any 45 min speech a grown up can make.
My son, who's 9, wanted to go up to the lookout point behind our house last night. I took him. We stopped after we finished shopping. We went out and got some socks, ponchos (a little late, but maybe it'll come in handy some way), t-shirts, etc. The necessary supplies the workers need.
We pulled over, it was getting cloudy, but you could still make out the smoke. It's still unbelieveable to me & Eschallet too. He goes over the same mtn. every morning on his way to work and says it's still bizzare to see the skyline changed forever.
With time, i know we will heal. I will say that collecting donations at my company today has helped me feel a little better. It doesn't make my family's losses any less, but now that feeling of helplessness has lessened.
My older brother (he's adopted) has a cousin who's missing. He headed down there again last after being home for a little bit to sleep. He's trying to help his aunt out by searching all the lists and hospitals. I'm going to try & head down on Sunday, to help him and my Uncle who's working down there.

My daughter is only 5 and does not really understand what happened or why..(like we do either...) But last night we did a candle light vigil and today she made me cry... We drove by a car dealership that was displaying an American flag high and my daughter looked up to the sky and said "I miss you all who died I hope you are ok in Heaven" and she blew them a kiss. I asked her why she did that and she said "to make them feel better"
GOD BLESS AMERICA My heart goes out to the friends and families of those lost...

Children are little miracles in my eyes. The stories of what your daughers did made me cry.
