Hey, all. I posted this question as part of my introduction to the community (http://www.mysticwicks.com/showthread.php?t=78902), & I got some wonderful food for thought from the answers suggested there, but I'd like to put it here, too.

My patron goddess is Shapshu, the Phoenician sun goddess. She's only "assigned" herself to me recently, so I'm still learning about her.

A couple weeks ago, I was doing a trance/meditation. Nothing big; I didn't have any huge issues I wanted resolved; I just wanted to hang out with Shapshu for a while. And she said, quite clearely, "Restore the prisoner of Apollo." Now, I'm not at all familiar with that phrase, or, in fact, of any stories about Apollo that involve him taking a prisoner of any sort - let alone what that would have to do with a Phoenician goddess, other than the fact that there might be some sun deity rivalry going on. :tongueout But I wonder if it means anything to any of you. Any prisoners of Apollo that I should be looking for? This feels almost...quest-like. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks so much!

Peace, love, & flaming Viking longboats,

Sorry, not a clue here, but it does sound interesting. Good luck learning more about this. Maybe more meditation, or some research on the interent will lead you in a particular direction?

Try looking into what Appolo represents...

Perhaps it is a reference to unrequited love?

One of the central myths of Apollo is that of his pursuit of the lovely nymph Daphne. It is really about how "rationality" is not the be all and end all of human experience. To teach Apollo, the god of rationality, a lesson, Eros (think "Cupid") struck Apollo with a gold tipped arrow. When struck by the arrow, Apollo immediately became inflamed with with irrational desire and love for the lovely river nymph Daphne. However, at the same time, Eros struck Daphne with his lead tipped arrow of disgust and repulsion. So, the more Apollo pursued his true love, Daphne, the more she was repulsed and disgusted by Apollo. Apollo pursued Daphne relentlessly across the face of the earth, and he would not (or maybe could not) give up. Finally , exhausted and terrified, Daphne cried out to all the gods for assistance. She was, at that instant, transformed into a laurel tree and Apollo could not pursue her any further.

Unless you have a dying laurel tree in your yard, I would think the message might be about releasing/not pursuing/being released from unreturned affection...

If, however, you do have a laurel tree in your keep, I'm thinking this might be a good time to give it a little extra care... you know... just in case :sunny:

Oh, must I? Eros is so much cooler! Not being, you know, a baby & all.

BWAH! Oh, man, that's awesome. Thank you.

In fact, your whole post is awesome. That's...wow. That's quite a bit to think about. I'm going to have to go think deeply now....well, OK, not right now, 'cause I'm at work. And who thinks deeply at work? :braindrai

Thanks so much, Singer!

this was my first thought too, but instead of Daphne i was thinking of Narcissus (the young man and the flower).

i'm not sure if i could give you a logical reason though... just my intuition.
