It is pretty easy to find a god or goddess if you know where to look.

Well, here's how I found Selene (my goddess) and Helios (my god) well it was kinda weird. The moon (Selene is a moon goddess) would always shine really really brightly at night and the moon would always be seen during the day for like weeks at a time.

But you need to find out what you like in nature and look for signs. If you make it known that you need a god, I am sure you will find something. Just be really keen to your surroundings and I would read up on mythology, too.

So...does that mean, since I love cats, that Bast, a feline Kemetic goddess, is a Goddess of mine? Sort of confused, please explain a little more?
Well, whenever Pagan friends of mine and I do a rite, shortly after its starts to rain and/or blow wind really hard, and this is EVERYTIME, hehe. I like owls which are associated with Athena, I like nature which Artemis is a goddess of, but, I should look at things and look for clues? Like how you said that the moon would always be there for you...does that mean like if the wind and rain 'go on' after I do a rite/ritual or just talk with friends that maybe a Rain God/dess is trying to contact me?
It is weird, that it doesn't really storm after I do rites, but after I do a rite with one of my Wiccan friends, or when I am with a bunch of Pagan friends and she is a part of it, then the winds blows and it rains hard.

Bastet (http://www.ancientegypt.co.uk/gods/explore/bastet.html) could be a good goddess to look into.

Just a few notes..
Bast is far more than just a goddess for cat lovers :) Also, Her name is Bast. Bastet is a common mistake made when transcribing from hieroglyphs. As the years went on, a lot of words in the kemetic language had the t dropped from the end as their speech got a bit more lazy I guess. Language changes. So to combat this and keep Bast's name intact, the ancient egyptians started adding an extra t to the end to emphasize the fact that it was meant to be pronounced.
As for finding your god and goddess.. well, it usually takes a lot of time, research and meditation/general soul searching. Follow your instincts. If you feel drawn to a particular deity, spend time reading about them from all the sources you can find, and thinking about who they are.
As with all relationships, you'll need to get to know eachother :)
Best of luck!

I would like to learn more and find 'my' god and goddess.
I am not sure what information helps? I love trees, though when I lived in the rockies there was a particular mountain that i felt a kinship with.
I am an animal lover though really can't say there's a particular one that stands out just right now.
I love angels and believe in them for guidance...
Hmmm what else helps me find out who mine are?

Self-discovery, introspection, keeping one's self open, and *listening*, above all else. No-one else can really tell you which god or goddess you should be working with, or "find" you one...all they can do is share their opinion.

Bast is my Goddess, only second to the Mom herself. :D
I really do not feel comfy working with the Gods though..

If you're gonna use the internet as a tool, you've gotta get your Google-Fu on.
Try narrowing it down a bit. Meditate, or otherwise calm yourself, and examine your feelings about deity. Are they male or female? What colours or symbols comes to mind? Are they associated with a place, or time of year, or particular profession? Are they from one particular pantheon or people, or are they more generic? Think about these things, and allow your intuition to guide you.
Once you have a few more details, hit Google with a search string based on what you figured out. It's a lot easier than staring at huge lists of names from all pantheons and trying to figure it out.

I keep on seeing Owls everywhere, what does that mean?
juelle

I'm not sure but i believe owls are very symbolic of warding off bad spirits.
Though you should google it to find a god/goddess that matches up with owls.
I found one that i think is me. Here's her story. In case anyone is interested or needs the info:
Carya.
otherwise known as Metis, the Titaness of Wisdom.
One of king Dion of Laconia and queen Iphitea's three daughters. When Iphitea had shown hospitality to Apollo, the god rewarded this by giving the gift of prophecy to the three daughters under the condition that they would not try to know forbidden things or betray the gods.
When Dionysus visited the court he fell in love with Carya, and she with him. He then left, but came back to be with her. Carya's sisters tried to keep him from her, threatening to tell their father of the affair and he then pointed out that they were betraying a god. They still would not let him near Carya, and Dionysus struck them with madness.
They then went up on Mt. Tagyetus and became rocks.
Carya turned into a walnut tree.
She is also considered the goddess of childbirth.
Artemis brought the news to the Laconians, who thereupon built a temple to Artemis-Caryatis, from which Caryatids take their name.
A temple in Rome was dedicated to her and known as the Temple of Carmentis. The right arch of this temple was called the porta scelerata, the portal of guilt, because the Fabii passed through it on their way to destruction at Cremera.
It is also interesting to note that fire was first captured from lightning struck trees, of which the nut-tree is highly prone. In the early tree-alphabet, the letter C (for Car) is expressed as the number nine. Phyllis is linked with Carya, in the classic myth of fire acquisition; his caresses of the metamorphosed Carya caused her branches to burst into flame, instead of flower.
It is associated with poetry as well.
:)
So for now, i feel strongest about Carya, her name even just popped out at me and her story felt right.
Thanks for your help everyone!

Looks like she is also part of Carmenta, who is a really neat Roman goddess of healing and childbirth.

Anyone know anything about Celtic goddess Sirona?
Morgandria
January 14th, 2005, 02:14 AM
SIRONA (Breton, Gaul, Continental) Also spelled Dirona. Her names means "star". She was a Goddess of the many beneficial hot spring sin southern France from which her few extant legends came. She was also a sky Goddess, probably a deity of the sun.
She was the mother of Borvo, who usurped her position in patriarchal times.
A Continental Goddess of healing and fertility.

Having patron gods is a big commitment.
When you are chosen by a deity, and they become your "patron", you in effect have become both their priest and their adopted child. You can see them out all you want, you can put up a big metaphysical ad that says "Wanted: One Divine Parent! Willing to honour you and serve at your altar for LIFE!"" (which is effectively what it is), but there's no guarantee that it's gonna work.
Bottom line - they'll choose you when they want you. They'll what you when you have the right set of skills, ability, personality, and experience they're looking for. Could be next week, could be years. You can put yourself out there as much as you like, meditating, ritualizing, etc. - but like walking the sidewalk with a resume, they won't be interested until they see what they're looking for.
It's a very large committment, because when they want something of you you can't just blow them off. They will treat you as a beloved son or daughter, but you better believe that you have your own duties to them and those that don't fufill them get a small piece of their deity's mind.
