I am looking for a good place to buy a dress for a handfasting ritual. My wife and I had a conventional wedding for my families sake, but want to have a handfasting for ours. can anyone give me a good web address where I can get a nice dress.

I have the contact info for the person who made the robes for my coven. She does SCA, Pagan wear and can create Arwen type dresses. Our robes were better than I ever thought. Her prices are very reasonable. She turned our robes around very quickly, too. I met her in person and she is very friendly. :) Her name is Rhiannon and her email address is rhiannonsdolls@sbcglobal.net. SHe's great... if you decide to contact her, let her know that I (Ivy from Twilight Moon) recommended her.Good luck and congrats on your marriage! And Welcome to Mystic Wicks!

I dont know of any web sites but maybe you could go to your local fabric store and find a pattern and the material you both like and take it to a dress maker and have one made.. i dont know if they charge alot for making dresses but that way you get a bit more of a choice as to what style of dress you can have.. I love the dressesin the costume section of the pattern books.. thats where i got the pattern for my wedding dress..

My friend and I fantasize about the dresses on this site: Fairy Fashion (http://www.fairyfashion.de/). The gowns are beautiful. A bit pricey, but if anything, you can get ideas, and she does have simpler designs.

If you haven't already found what you seek, put a post up in the Pagan Public Marketplace forum (um, but I would suggest titling it more like "Seeking Handfasting Gown", so it'll attract the attention of the sewing crowd, & not the wand-makers :hehehehe: )... betcha there's someone over there that can help ya out, and of course I always recommend doing business with fellow MWers whenever possible.
