I have searched and searched, but to no avail... I cannot, for the life of me, find any spells that can be done through letters via snailmail.... any ideas?

Write the spell on the paper in invisible ink, and then write the ordinary letter on top of the magical letter in ordinary pen. They'll never think to hold the paper up to a heat source to see the invisible ink, and they'll still theoretically be reading the spell as they read the letter. Other than that......anchant it, maybe, or scent the paper with an appropriate scent, write on coloured paper in coloured ink to correspond with what you want.....that's all I can think of at the moment.

Im curious... why cast a spell on a letter to effect the unknowing reader?

Annyka's idea was for you to make up your own spell. She was trying to help, no need for you to get snippy, eh? If that wasn't what you were looking for, maybe you weren't clear enough about what you were asking?

The point is to charge the letter with a magical intent. Sort of like a Talisman but a bit different.

I'm still confused as to your intent but I'll add my 2 cents anyway. I read a spell not long ago that suggested charging a blank piece of paper and mailing it with no return address. The point of this particular spell was to remove an individual's negative energy from your life.

I've also considered sending that type of person a small mirror so that they would "see"
what they were doing and stop the behavior.

Just a question...

Is it possible to put a spell or other such thing on a letter to discourage reading by anyone other than the intended recipient?

Protagonist - you could perhaps write it in Theban or something....which, though easy to write, is a bugger to read...at least to me, anway. Plus, it looks ubercool!

Yep.

Yep.

Yes, you could also just ask that the writing be "shrouded" or "cloaked." This would cause energetic/magical forces to keep it out of the hands of others.

I came across this spell in Valerie Worth's book. I know that it suppose to be fictional but its a damn good spell and i love her poetry.

for an important letter:

When your letter has been sealed and stamped, lay it on a black cloth and pour a circle of salt around it. As you do say:

Words that run before my pace,
And carry me beyond this place,
Please the eyes that greet thee next
And work my will within thy text.

Fold the cloth over it and kiss the folds; then mail it immediately.

I suppose that the spell could be altered depending on the sitation. for example if its a love spell use pink or red cloth and rose petals.

Hehe, the funny thing is, when I asked if there was a spell to discourage unwanted reading, I wasn't planning on casting one on a letter myself, though it certainly came across like this.

As odd as it may sound, I had in my possession awhile back a letter from a friend to her boyfriend, that I was to give to him. Though I had fully planned on being underhanded and reading it (I was a bit, er, clouded back then) I found that I couldn't - I couldn't even open it. Everytime I tried to, I got a funny feeling. I chalked it up as either my conscience, or witchcraft (because the friend in question is sharp as a tack in terms of magick.) Hehe, conscience or witchcraft. Either way, I'm uber-glad I didn't open the letter.

Maybe (depending on the point of the spell) one could mail a letter with no address or an incomplete address (only your return address) and the spell would last as long as it would take for the letter to return to oneself.

What's up with people wanting to know the other people's purpuses, jesus! As far as we know she/he could even want to kill/harm/whatever the other person, that that is not of our concern. She asks for help, you giveit if you want to, if you dont, you dont even bother to reply.

For a Spell in a letter, maybe you want to start considering correspondences. Planetary hours, colours, and scents. You could writte the letter in the planetary hour alliened to your intent; make an ink with the herbs and scents of your intent (depending is this is practical of course) and while you write it, you think about the spell. You can even write, for example, "I love you" and that "i love you" in your head, may be an "I Hate you, you stupid F$%&". Intent, in magic, is very important, if your intent is really strong, a simple spell will do.

Hope this helps^^

riddle me this, isn't doing a spell through a letter that the reader isn't aware of, completely working against free will?

why would you want to do a spell via snail mail anyway? *confused*

Try using sigil magick to produce a paper talisman!

Cathubodva

Why? That's on a persons consciense and motivations. Not my business to interfere with personal Morals and Ethics. To each their own Just because most of the books nowdays try to develop a consciousness towards the free will of others, not all of us agree with that "coca-cola" mentality. In my idea, a person does whatever thinks necessary, the fact that we cant understand the point doesnt mean that for the person doing it inst worth it.

A simple example? If someone was doing me harm, i would never think about not doing a binding spell because i was interfering with that person "free will".

So that we can give better advice on how to make the spell if we know what it's for.
