Anyone else out there feel really lonely?
My girlfriend and I broke up (of four months) about three weeks ago, and I feel kind of lonely. I do have people who love me, great friends who I can tell anything without fear, people who I can hang out with who are just great, free-spirited and open-minded.
But its just that tommorow is New Years Eve, and I am going to a few parties, most of my friends are going after to spend time on trips over the weekend with their boy/girlfriends, and its just...well, I just do not feel that great.

Wow, I do sound kind of selfish, others have bigger problems, but I just want to deal with this.

I'm sorry to hear that you're feeling lonesome. I can't remember the last time I had a date for New Year's -- maybe New Year's Eve 1989? I used to feel rather lonely when this holiday would roll around again, but I found that I actually enjoy having the night to myself, or celebrating with friends. It's a great time to reflect on all of the successes and learning experiences of the past year, and to focus my intention on the hopes and goals I have in my sight for the coming year.

I hope that you enjoy your New Year's, and that you have a great 2005. :)

Yep. Some people -- like yours truly -- now have accidentally pink hair.

Aw tigerlad...I'm sorry you feel that way :( I've been through a breakup myself recently, it's never fun, and it's easy to feel left out of things when you're single and other people are doing things with their SOs. Personally I have a bit of a problem with New Year anyway, always have, and I always feel crappy at New Year anyway, lol!

Don't worry about the whole 'other people have bigger problems' thing. There's always someone with bigger problems, but you still have to worry about your OWN problems, however trivial they may seem by comparison to someone else's.

I know very much how you feel.

I spent Christmas alone and will probably just come home after work and do something on the computer. My family is on holidays at the moment, and I left all my good friends back in Sydney a year ago. I would hang out with my college buddies here, but I haven't been able to connect to them the way I did with my friends in Sydney. (I now live in Melbourne).

Oh well, me and the manager on tonight are getting along really well lately, maybe I'll stay behind and keep her company ;)

I know that feeling very well.. and I've actually spent yule, christmas, and new years eve with others.. alone even with my friends or family.. *shrug* It's not the first time this has happened so I'm almost getting used to it.. (I haven't had a girlfriend; even just a fling in like 6 years.. so the feeling is getting worse.. ).. Life goes on though.. and it could be the reason I feel so powerful normally.. This is where most people say look for the silver lining.. but, sometimes there isn't one.. you just have to let it go. _inabox_

Okay, that sounds very depressing even to me..it wasn't really intentional..

Hugs to you!
I felt the same way you do more around Thanksgiving and Xmas.
Takes time to mourn your loss.
Closure will occur.
Hope you had a wonderful new yrs.
