I was just doing a little reading and thought people might be interested in what I've been looking at. It's taken me a bit because the moon changed signs today, but I *think* I've finally ascertained that the new moon is in libra tonight (as of 2pm EST), while it was in virgo this morning before going void of course.

www.moonspells.com has this to offer about new moon magick in libra:
---------
New Moon in TWELFTH HOUSE
This month marks the end of the Lunar Year
for you, where you have one more month of
working out the old issues during this New
Moon cycle. This is a time to get ready to be
reborn anew, during the New Moon NEXT
month in your sign. Focus now on how you
want to approach your next cycle, and work on
removing any mental or psychological
obstacles that stand in your way. The twelfth
house rules the subconscious realm,
and can be an excellent time for holistic
healing work and many forms of therapy. The
twelfth house represents the unconscious
drives and urges that greatly affect our lives
even when we are not consciously aware of
them, as well as our desire to "return to the
womb" and become "one with everything". A
great time for spiritual and meditative
practices, as well as all forms of therapy or
holistic healing.

TWELFTH HOUSE: solitude, introspection,
research and investigation, therapy, the
subconscious realm, psychic abilities, dreams.

What attributes do I need to develop in order to heal past issues
before moving ahead in the next lunar cycle?

What are the most effective rituals for this house?

rituals for: divination, psychic abilities, mediumship, letting go.

I thought it was particularly interesting - especially being in libra at this time as we come up to the one week anniversary of the terrorist attacks.

This was some info I got here (http://www.wiccan.com/moon.html) :
Moon in LIBRA is the best time for spells involving justice, unions, balance (spiritual and otherwise), artistry; healing of the lower back and kidneys.

So if anyone is thinking of doing a ritual for this new moon, the time is definitely right to construct a ritual around the call for justice, unity of the people and the world, balance in the world, and healing :)

Thanks Lilu! Its amazing how everything is tied together isnt it :)

I will be doing a rite for the call of justice, peace and unity in the world tonight ~
here are a few words that I have found to use.. I will be preparing the rite more after work.
"May Peace Prevail on Earth"
"This circle, cast in love and light, dissipate now into the night.
Heed the Rede as is just, with perfect love and perfect trust.
Send out our call for unity, it is our will, so mote it be. "

Just thought I'd *bump* this up again.

Anyone else finding that this is interesting? A second new moon (tonight!) in Libra, a little more than a month after 9/11? I did!

How can there be two new moons in Libra in a row? Is this really unusual?

That's what I was wondering??? Maybe I got it wrong... but I did look it up in my magickal almanac, don't think I did. *shrug* Maybe it's just special! ;) I don't know enough about this sort of thing to judge.

Found this moon calandar which is really nice :)http://www.astrologie.ws/moonc1.htm

I was plnanning to plant some Tulip bulbs tonight aswell :)
Scorpio/Water/Feminine/Night/Fixed-The Moon is Scorpio is a very moist and productive time. This is the best time for fertilizing your crops; good for planting too--especially vines; also a good time to irrigate.

It's the same level of "usual" as having two Full Moons in the same cycle - people just tend not to pay that much attention to the New Moon, for whatever reason. For the record, a couple of years ago, we had a Blue Moon in January and again in March ~ leaving the New Moon to fall in February. But as far as I can find out, it's hard to have a Full Moon in February because it's so short, anyway - so a Full Moon in February would be something special, indeed.:D

well the moon takes 30 days to complete its cycle, and generaly the 3 days prior and 3 days after the actual full moon date, the moon is considered to be full....

some months have 30 days and some have 31 and with february being the oddball with 28 (29 on leap) ...yes it can happen a full or new moon twice in one sign or month...

(sorry if this is redundant but i felt id put this up for the newer ones)
