Well, this week the new movie White Noise starring Micheal Keaton will be at the box office. Do you think the spirits of the departed can be captured on some type of recording device? I have listened to the Coast to Coast Am show with Art Bell with members of the GIS- The Ghost Investigator Society http://www.ghostpix.com/. On their website they have recordings of voices which are supposed to be spirits.

From what I understand they go to graveyards & houses that are haunted and just bring a tape recorder with them..they ask for communication & try talking to the spirits.. and when they play the tape back, there is in some cases a voice on the tape!

What are your thoughts on this ? Are you going to see the movie?

The only thing I have to say is that the trailer scared the bejeezus out of me - I'm not about to go see the movie!

And yes, I'm sure that phenomenon could occur...strange, isn't it?

I too, am very excited about the movie. I have been interested in EVP for quite some time. I actually have an acquaintance who's home is featured on some of the EVP recordings on that very website you referred to. Very spoooky!!! The only bad thing about the EVP's is that they can really freak you out if you are all alone at night listening to it. :shaker: :woah:

I know a couple of people who've witnessed this phenomenon, and in their case it wasn't a deceased person talking to them, but a spirit or non human entity of some sort.

On David Letterman, Michael Keaton said that they were in the process of filming the movie on the subject when the publicity surrounding it all broke.....

I am not 100% sure if I heard this right, but I THINK I heard that the voices (EVP noise) in the film are actual and authentic recordings. Im not sure , I heard something about it on ET..

I finally saw it. I enjoyed it and thought that it was pretty interesting but there were a few parts that were just total movie glam and ya know wasn't real at all. If I had a chance to see it again...I might? Maybe!

I'd like to see this movie... I think I'll wait for a few more MW reviewers to chime in. I can always wait for DVD.

the movie looks quite boring actually. I may see it, but only if it's a group discision and we all go for a laugh as we sometimes do, if not I aint going to see it. I usually love horror fims but this one looks boring. If you get what I mean.

But yeah we did a tape recording once to find EVP, it worked, We could hear a voice, but for the life of us we couldn't understand it. Not english I don't think. Come to think of it it may have been latin. But we did it years ago and none of us had ever heard another language off films. The tapes gone now.

I think it can work. The departed can show us lot's of signs that they are around us, and many are through electrical devices, like lights, or even make the phone ring, so why not voices.

There is more to this movie than just EVP's. I've read that some of it is based on the research of this gentleman, who also recieved messages from his dead wife and was able to see images on a de-tuned tv set. http://www.worlditc.org/h_07_macy_meek.htm (http://www.worlditc.org/h_07_macy_meek.htm)

The reviews say the movie starts out good but ends weak. I'll probably wait for it to come out on video.

I saw the movie last night and I didn't like it, wasn't scary at all. I don't believe in the EVP thing either.

Only if its a copied one. I wouldn't fork out the money for the vid, it costs more than cinema and you only watch it once unless it's good. Which it isn't supposed to be

I think it is possible, but i don't need a device to hear voices, I hear enough of them in my head;)

I think I heard that sometimes it's a voice speaking verrrrrry slowly or very quickly; sometimes all the tape needs is to be played on fast-forward :)

I just went to see this movie. While I think EVPs may have some basis of truth, hollywood turned this into some spectacular ghost movie. it has barely any facts in truth and is just corny. Go see the movie if you want to be entertained, but know it borders on the rediculous.

Yea they are. A few years ago I found a website with those evps on it, and the site wasn't related to the movie.

i have tried EVP before, and i plan on trying again in the near future. i saw the preview for the movie, and it scared the bejeezus out of me. but i don't believe that could ever happen, there are too many flaws in the story..

It's not that way here. We can rent a video much cheaper than seeing a movie in the theatre. Besides we can make our own popcorn and snacks much cheaper at home.

Nothing beats watching a movie on the big screen though. Also theres a discount theater here where the movies are only $2 each during matinee.

We have huge TV and dolby digital surround sound, only difference is no old people chuntering on, comfy seats, better snacks and can pause it if I need the loo. So much better. It's about the same to watch (with my discount) as it is to hire (don't get a discount).

the movie was very good. however, i expected a bit more out of it. Regardless, I liked it.

I adore EVP though. I've always got a tape handy incase I feel fluctuations in energy, that way I can pop it in and see if it'll record anything.

After me and my ex saw the movie, he wanted to take a digital recorder to my gramma's house. She died in the house on Christmas Eve morning, but she's still very much there. She made a picture frame fall the wall, the giftmas wreath fall from the door, a bag of her oxygen tank tubing fall onto the floor, and an OLD clock that hasn't worked for decades start ticking. I said no. I don't think I really want to hear anything if there is. That crap creeps me out. Besides, didnt at the end of the movie it say 1 in 10 (12?) of the spirits are threatening. I wouldn't want to upset a spirit.

Silver_FireStar
January 13th, 2005, 01:14 PM
That's nonesence. it's 50% or at least 50% when we've got in contact with the other side. We used to do spirit boards, and talking through oracle cards. EVP shouldn't have a different percentage of threatening spirits. And it it's family there isn't going to be aggression anyway.

I really want to see the movie. As far as EVP I find it facinating. If you go here: http://www.the-atlantic-paranormal-society.com you can listen to some. These guys have there own show on sci fi its pretty good.
