hy there!

I was wondering, since reconstructionism is the path that tries to reconstruc the ancient pagan ways of the long dead celts, do you think its possible for a person not part of the seven celtic countries to follow this path?

For instance, The Thuatha de Dannan, according to the myth, travelled from Spain or the Iberic regions to Irland, where they settled camp. Later on, these supernatural beings where revered has Gods, and has ancestors. So, in the opinion of other recons. here, do you think its plausible for a..lets say, a chinese to whorship or follow a celtic recons. path; or do you think that Reconstructionism should be followed according to your geographical localization?

hmmm. well, I'm a total newbie to Celtic Reconstructionism myself and while I'm no expert, I'd say if you feel you've got a strong connection towards the Celts and Celtic culture than go for it. To me it should be more of a spiritual connection than a biological or geographical.

There are, I'm sure, Chinese pantheons as well which you might apply the same kind of recon techniques to...although I could be completely wrong, I really am uneducated when it comes to Chinese culture and paganism in China.. with the exception of some dabbling in Buddhism awhile ago.

So, yeah, I'd go for it. Who knows, perhaps you were a Celt in a past life :)

There were of course a lot more than 7 Celtic peoples in the Classical period, though there are 6 Celtic nations today.

As being Celtic was never a racial matter, there's no obvious reason in my opinion that you couldn't follow that path. Might make it more difficult for you learning the language if you don't live in a Celtic country, but there's no gain without pain.

There is absolutely no reason why a person of any nationality couldn't participate in Celtic Restorationism. If you are called by the gods, you are called no matter what you nationality. Furthermore Celtic is a linguistic term and does not denote race in any way so technically as long as you can speak a Celtic language you could be said to be Celtic. Though I do feel that participation in the culture of those who spoke Celtic languages is just as important.
