Jerry Falwell email

I had posted a rather nasty thought about how I wish that we could send Falwell to snuff out Bin Laden from one crazy zealot to another. I was just kidding of course about wanting to punch Falwell in the face.

My mother knows my impatience with Falwell and sent me an email address she found to voice your comments, reminding me that you catch more flies with honey than with vinegar. So, I wrote him a calm letter letting him know that his hatred is no better than his counterpart Bin Laden.

The address is Jerry@Falwell.com should any of you be interested to let him know as I did, what our religion is about. Maybe letting him know we are respectful of what we believe to be the 3 fold law and of nature will begin to make him realize that his hatred for those other than himself is repulsive - to say the least. It may not, and he probably won't even read it himself, but it made me feel better just to say something.

Well, I don't think my comments are as colorful as Mystique's & Mol's but here what I wrote. :D


With sadness I read your comments regarding the aftermath of the
terrorist attacks to our country. I am sad, because you made comments
that hurt people and were just as hateful as the monster Bin Laden.
Pagans, gays, and others not like yourself were NOT the cause of the
bombings. HATRED was the cause. Blind hatred and the feeling that only
your beliefs are the correct ones. I myself am Pagan. I live near NYC
also. My brother was many of the men down there digging. He told me he
had heard your comments and was surprised, because the people first
there to help were the GAY community of The Village. How can people
like that be wrong. How can you say they are not normal? Because some
book written thousands of years ago, IMPLIED it. My friends and I spent
2 days collecting items the rescue workers needed. In fact, 2 of my
co-workers, who helped out, are Muslim, one gentlemen nearly lost his
son to this insane act. Not all Muslims are to blame, and certainly,
gays & pagans are not to blame either.

People lived in peace and practiced Paganism long before Christianity
was introduced. The Christians were the ones who persecuted and spread
hate, not the Pagans or Witches. I am proud to be who I am and follow
the old ways. It may or may not surprise you, but I was raised
Catholic, IN FACT, not only am I baptized, first communion, & confirmed,
my 9 year old son is also baptized. I left the Catholic path, because I
don't like to listen to the hate and be told I am inferior because I am
a woman. That's me and my beliefs however, I do not really expect you
to change or understand. Old dog, new tricks sort of thing I guess.

I'm sure you and your followers will pray for my heathen soul, that's
fine. Do what you have to do to get you through your days. But please,
PLEASE, take a step back and re-read the transcripts from your comments
and realize the hatred you preached. Hate spawns hate, and I for one am
very tired of all the hatred.

I did my very best to sound calm & rational. didn't want to add any fuel to his mis-guided fire.

I just checked out Jerry Falwell's website, just out of curiosity. There is a letter of apology, posted by him dated today.
Hopefully, the responses sent by ya'll and most likely many others will have an impact on him, and he'll try to follow a path of compassion and acceptance in the future. The site is www.falwell.com. Blessed Be.

i emailed him yesterday. and told him i forgave him. as i understand he was speaking out of fear and anger. haven't heard back.
