View Full Version : Question on chakras & paths

I'm currently in that "seeker" stage & still....well...sort of making my own path. I have a very great interest, as many of you know, in Celtic practices--early Irish in particular.
However, I've also had a lot of talk & such around me recently about chakras. It has always been my understanding that the idea of chakras & their meanings/energies/etc. has been a primarily Eastern/Middle Eastern-type idea/belief.
So, what I'm wondering is this: Do other paths (such as Celtic Recon, Druidism, etc.) believe in these energy centers & if so, is it in the same manner as is typically discussed when the subject of chakras comes up?

Personally, I do (believe in chakras). It's kind of a legacy from my previous path and practises; I've worked with them, and according to my UPG, I got a lot out of it. So I don't see why I should now refute it because I've gone a Recon route...
However, in a more Irish sense, you might be interested in exploring the Cauldron of Poesy:
Article on the Cauldron of Poesy by Erynn Rowan Laurie (http://www.thunderpaw.com/neocelt/poesy.htm)
Erynn's website (and I'm sure the article's there as well, but google brought up the other one first (http://www.seanet.com/) :)
Erynn's done some interesting work based on a 7th century Irish poem that describes three cauldron's in everyone which she translates as the Cauldron of Incubation, the Cauldron of Motion, and the Cauldron of Wisdom. She's sees them as energy centres, comparable to chakras but not exactly the same. I think that might be along the lines of what you're looking for?

I am wiccan, and I use the chakras, in fact my favorite meditation is a chakra meditation. I firmly beleive it helps me to be more centered and grounded, which in turn makes me a better Witch. For me as well as helping my spiritual wellbieng it also helps my physical well bieng, and since I dont like taking medication as such, I used other methods, like chakras to help.
Does that make sense?
