So I started a new thread.
-- Posted by Mairwen
Well, nobody can answer that for you, but YOU. How do you perceive
God/dess to begin with? Do you have any personal attributes that you seem
to "see" in descriptions of deity?
-- Posted by mol
Well, as the Goddess goes: Long flowing dark hair..white skin...no tan.
Beautiful. With full lips that barely move when she speaks to me. Green
eyes.
God: Long flowing, wavy, brown hair. A goatee that is barely
present...just a shadow. Muscular body with a slight tan. Blue eyes.
Thats what i see.
-- Posted by Mairwen
What I meant was ... What part/s of your personality seem to stand out
when you read about certain Gods and Goddesses? What attributes seem to
form a recurring theme?
-- Posted by mol
Hmmm...I must be a little off this morning...because i dont understand
what you mean.
-- Posted by atlantis
thats a bit rascist why can't they be black or brown skinned
-- Posted by mol
Its my God and Goddess I can picture and see them how I want to see them.
If you want them to black and brown skinned then that is how you see them.
You see?
-- Posted by atlantis
fine my godess is: long urban brown hair and dark skinned with brown
eyesand one blue eye using a contact and my god is: short black hair with
yellow eyes using contacts
-- Posted by Verbena
Mol, your description of your God sounds like me...*grin*
-- Posted by mol
*mol* drops to one knee and bows his head...
-- Posted by mol
NOTE! Read above, Mairwen's comment to me...what we are talking about is
not the topic...read closely what she says. I didnt read close enough.
-- Posted by atlantis
yeah but which one the god or godess!
-- Posted by Verbena
*laugh* I thankyou for that but it is me who should bow to you for the
work you do on this site.
* verbena* Bows in return
-- Posted by Mairwen
Sorry about that. Maybe I need more coffee!
*guzzle! guzzle! guzzle!*
In the Gwyddoniad, we teach that it's possible to be a human "family
member" of certain Gods and Goddesses ~ these would be the Monadic Gods.
Even if you're not a "family member", it's still quite easy to see the
same attributes you have in a god/dess ~ doe that make more sense?
For example ~ Arianrhod. My life has followed hers on a similar bead.
She's blonde and blue-eyed; so am I. She birthed two sons; I have two sons
~ and their last name is Dillon (their dad's name). She's a strong
independent woman; so am I.
See what I mean?
-- Posted by Mairwen
thats a bit rascist why can't they be black or brown skinned
That's a strong statement, don't you think? Besides, 1) that wasn't MOL's
intent, and 2) I don't think you grasp the intent of the topic.
-- Posted by Mairwen
yeah but which one the god or godess!
Either, or, or both ~ doesn't have to be "one".
-- Posted by mol
Ding! Light goes on....
Ok. Well, since I dont really focus on a particular Diety (although I
favor Dionysus and Athena) I dont know quite how to answer. Even when I do
use the 'names' above I dont really use the picture that has been drawn
for us. So, as far as physical appearance...I use then attributes aboves,
And i share Gods blue eyes. But I also see the God with a hunger for
knowledge (even though he knows all there is to know) and I share that.
The Goddess I see as giving and nurturing. I try to be giving...and i try
to help anyone i can (within reason) and I know that I share that with
Her.
Is that a little better? I will think on it some more.

That's a little inflammatory don't you think?
I know many people who feel the absolute epitome of the female divinity is
Kuan Yin.
Following your logic, would not then a description of her asian beauty, be
considered racially uncircumspect?
I sincerely disbelief that anyone was making a racial statement, only one
of personal vision.
There was no talk that the God/Godess are not manifested in all the colors
of people, just as is evidenced in the populations of the people of the
world.

I dont really have a picture, more of a mind who can change bodies, etc.
I think the godess would be like me, a fighter(i have fist fights with my
sister-hehehe!!!no, we hardly have them anymore.)and she would also have
natural grace and beauty(v. unlike me!!)and she would gain lots of
respect. she would also be short(we rule!)and could still look down on
tall people!!heheh!
i think the god would be more woman like, kinda in touch with his
'feminine side'.he would have long hair and a kind face. he is much more
vague than the godess.
neather would have any particular race or colour. may be they would change
colour, or be blue or comething. i see them as more as spirits.

This is a question I have. How do I know who my god/goddess is if I know
nothing about any of them? Maybe a class for absolute newbies will be done
in the future? Or maybe list of books that explain basics so I can
understand at least part of the comments on this site?
-- Posted by eaglewolf
pattyann,
Many choose their Goddess/God names and references depending upon the
tradition they follow.
Some "choose their deities" according to their feelings and associations
with themselves, personal traits, characteristics etc.
Others never do know "who" their Goddess/God is(are) and never do choose
to label them as anything.
Some, perhaps more familiar to you, simply choose the name God or Jesus,
and some Satan or the Devil.
No one can really tell you how you will know. The best thing to do is
read, read, read. Hang around here long enough and you will get ideas from
others.
The main thing to consider is what feels right for you. Do not jump in
just because others do. Be patient and keep learning.
This sounds like a cheesy, catch all answer, but is the best advice I can
give you. I am sure there are others here who will give you a more direct
answer...
Take care not to become discouraged. It sounds like a lot to swallow, but
knowledge is power, and well worth the effort.

Thanks EW! I couldn't have said it better, myself. :-)
-- Posted by Shatav
And some are lucky enough to have their deity just step into their room
and say 'hi' one day, and "I'm your patron God, nice to meet you."
-- Posted by Mairwen
Yup! Tis a beautiful feeling. ;-)

Just going to jump right in here.
I've seen the God and the Goddess as both having starlight for skin, and
night sky for hair. The sun and moon for eyes.
I've also seen the Goddess as having tan skin, brown eyes, and hair of
pure, elemental fire. I've seen her as having yellow skin and pale eyes,
with skin and hair that of pure sunlight. I've also seen her as having
blonde hair, pale skin, and green eyes.
I've encountered the God as having brown hair, blue eyes, a scruffy bold
beard with small antlers peaking from his head. Also, as an elder stag
running through the twilight forests.
Then again, I've seen Bast in a light nubian skin-color. She had not the
famed head of a feline, but instead approached me with eyes as dark as
night, black hair in Egyptian braids with beads on the end, and full dark
red lips. She was curious, but also playful to me. Almost like a caring
older sister than a mother.
So I started a new thread.
