View Full Version : Divination Parties

This was originally posted in the Tarot Forum (so please forgive the Tarot theme~!), but I think all Divination methods would be great at this!

IDEA: You get a group of friends/family together, (in one place) and do short, small 3-7card layout Tarot readings (these last from 10-30 minutes approximately. ) You can be the host, or have a friend host it and supervise. and it's always nice to read the host for free. Friends and family can bring a friend, if you don't know many that would be interested. (let them recuit clients for you!) Offer a light snack/munchies and beverages for those waiting and chatting.

COST: The only forseeable cost is the food and beverages.

PAYMENT: You can choose to do free readings or charge between 5-15 dollars. (pending on the size of the spread and the average amount of time it takes you to read) You might want to require a certain amount of people to be present so you make decent $$ for the time you put in. ....example: require 10 people (excluding host) to attend the party, and charge say...$10/reading. There's a hundred dollars in your pocket for a day's work.

If you don't feel comfortable enough to charge yet, you don't have to. Let them know that you are learning and need the practice. Make sure you also tell them that you are reading only one possible outcome....decisions made along the way may alter the outcome also.

SCHEDULING: Readings should be planned at least 20 minutes apart.

THE READING: You should have a comfortable table to sit at and a nice cushy chair for you and the person you are reading for. (a card table works great!) Cover the Reading area with a laycloth, or a nice table cloth (IMHO the darker the better...it makes the cards stand out) Solid colors are better.... prints are usually distracting and take away from the reading. (Unless you have a special laycloth like I do, it has celestial items printed on it...moon and stars...but I still like to use a solid color, no design type cloth when I do many readings at a time.)

Give the querant a pen and the Tarot worksheet that can be found at here...

This way, they can write down the reading and anything else you may tell them. Plus it's just a nice momento and they can show friends! Just make sure after you print it off to put your name and phone number on it so they can contact you for future readings, or throwing a party themselves!

Have a supply of candles handy. I find it to be a very nice setting if you have 2 candles lit while reading, one on your left side and one on your right. (I prefer white candles, truth and purity of reading) but it's a matter of choice....what ever color helps set the mood and gets you to the state of mind you need to be in.

Between readings, get something to drink, and a little something to nibble on. This will help keep your energies where they need to be.

Oh I think it would be great if you have some friend that have some other divination talents, then you could almost have your own little "Psychic Fair"!

You know, someone who reads the Runes, Crystal Ball, Tarot, Tea Leaves, Pendulums, Energy Readers.....etc! They can then compare notes about all the readings they got....should give a great view of what's happening with them...and what's yet to come! I think that would be great fun! Then make up flyers and post them around town, or just have the people involved invite three people that are sure to come....and ask each of the three to invite at least 2 people and on and on! lol ....just a thought~!

Have some business cards made up, so each reading they get, they get a business card on how to contact that person for futher readings, and to send business their way.

So, if you would like to do this, we would all love to hear how it goes!

I'm am starting to plan and make a list of who I want to invite, I'll let you know how mine goes! :D

I think this is a wonderful idea!!! and I spoke to my friends about it last night ~ the only thing is were all as nervous about holding one as eachohter! So it may take some time to plan and actaully get around to it ;)

Ive quickly changed the worksheet for your querrants to write down ther rune's which you read for them and the meaning's you interperate :) You can change it and add to it however you like in word, just unzip it fist.

Cool! ....but I have a fav to ask. Is there any way you could put the picture of the rune symbol on the bottom with "keyword" meanings? It's just an idea. I don't know if it's something you can do or not. :D

(that way for those of us that don't do much in the way of rune readings....OKAY FOR ME! lol ....it could also be a 'cheatsheet'!)

LOL! Thats what I thought when I saw the tarot sheet... I also thought it may confuse the reader a bit as we (well i dont) always interperate cards by the book/sheet/key words and the same way each reading... You know when you get feelings from the cards.. they may not undertsand that if they see the meanings... but I can also see how it helps loads!!! & chances are most/nearly all of the time our interpretations are the same anyway... :) Im going again arent I!

Yeah!! :D ~ I will try and get a Name, picture and meaning chart added to the bottom of the worksheet next week~ Id be glad too! Great idea Dagda! It will come in usefull as my cheat sheet ;) lol

I've been to parties like this and it never occurred to me to have one myself! Thanks for those worksheets, especially the one for runes, SV!
