Hey Everyone,
Sorry..It has been a while since I have been able to make it on here regularly, but hope that changes. I was just curious, What is your TOP internet site that has a lot of spells on it. Like, most of the time I just go with the flow and organize a spell as I go but I was just looking on the net, and...alot of the sites had like thousands of love spells..but no "real" spells you know.
I tried witchvox..that place is SO confussing to me..All I can seem to get is the front page..

Perfect love and Perfect Trust- :hailmol:

MystickWicks!!! It wins hands down. This site has everything you would need to make your own spells, correspondences, herb information, crystals, and if you type in the required spell into the search bar you would come up with alot of information.

I don't like getting spells from websites. If I need or want to do a spell I write one myself. Lots of websites have good correspondence lists but I usually go with what feels right to me.

I second that vote. Good site!

My top internet spell site would be none. Everything comes from the heart and soul for me. I'd only use websites for theological questions or discussions.

Putting aside the "blah blah you should write your own spell" stuff, I must admit I love hunting down spells. Not the generic Wicca-formual spells, but the weird stuff. They are great sources of inspiration when I'm looking to cast. Here are my favorite resources:

-Cantrap (http://www.cantrap.net/)
-Seawitch (http://www.seawitch.org)
-Walking the Witches Path (http://www.geocities.com/lavenderslinks/) <-- not too many spells per say here but by far the most interesting and comprehensive collection of correspondents I've ever seen. Not just the usual, colors, herbs/oils, and stones ... weird things like metals, trees and flowers as well.

And if you're a serious spell collector I would suggest buying a copy of The Element Encyclopedia of 5000 Spells (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0007164653/qid=1105322450/sr=8-1/ref=pd_csp_1/103-5214226-3238254?v=glance&s=books&n=507846) ... the anthropologist in me frowns at the questionable academics of it but the witch in me goes "weeeeeeeeeeeeiihhhhh :D"

I love collecting spells. I find them to be fun and inspiring even though I wirte my own spells. This one has some naughty spells but the best spell sites do.

http://crypt.eldritchs.com/spells/

http://www.angelfire.com/wy/elfhame/meadows.html (not a spell site really has a lot of magical techniques in a story form its very much like the choose your own adbventure books)

http://groups.msn.com/FullMoonParadise/bookofshadowsindex.msnw (lots of good info)

spell sites are for tossers. if you can't make your own spells or look for them via research of sagas, mythology and classic literature, then tough noogies.
but i will link to one site which i found particularly interesting, as a source of inspiration for crafting your own spells, maybe.

eeh, gotta look for it. brb.

edited to add: dangit, i forgot i need to find my old bookmarks first, cause i got a new comp recently and the bookmarks are still blank. :( i've got them somewhere on cd rom. i'll edit it in when i find it.

Ok no offence to anyone (but if it happens oh well) but if someone doesn't agree with the thread why do they feel the need to add in there opinions? For example this one not naming any names but thats fine if you don't get spells of the internet. But quite honestly people who read this and enjoy looking at spells don't really care about your practices. The title of this thread is not "what do you think of spell websites." Just don't contribute if you don't like it.

I know that you added a link I wasn't really directing that solely at you (hence the im not naming names but I m sure you meant well :cap: ). Its just that I come in and expect to see spell websites many of them are just sayng how its wrong to even think about looking at them. I came to the thread to look at wesites that I find interesting not to be judged.

Psh. hYpocritical, much? You're doing the same damn thing by posting that but in a different area! People have different opinions and should be able to share them. you're basically saying, "Hey! Why don't you people who are to stuck-up to use spell website, why don't you go make ayour own thread!" Fact is, this is a website talking aobut speelsites so its rather pointless to go make another board about them just to share an opinion that could be stated here. Plus, its not liek anyone who disagree's on the matter is sayng, "SPELL SITES ARE DUMB. DON'T USE THEM!! ONLY MORONS USE PREMADE SPELLS!"

Furthermore, I do not use spell sites. I feel that you put more energy or intent into your spells. And it seems sort of like using a "spell book" of some sorts. Too sterotypical for me.

Don't know if you've already found this one:

http://www.geocities.com/freespells/

This place has a craaaaazy amount of spells. It's a little tacky but there's lots of ideas to be found :)

What's wrong with reading spells to learn what other practitioners think works? I like to read spell sites to find out what other people are doing. If I see something that resonates with me I add it to what I write. I do think people should write their own spells, but what is the harm in learning from others?

Cantrap is a really good site, and luckymojo.com is fun if you are into the brick-dust-and-salt scene. Twilight Grotto (http://www.esotericarchives.com/esoteric.htm) is a great source of information if you have the time (and language skills) to read the classics.

How is that for an attack Suze? I guess that you should read more carefully. I was just trying to defend people on the thread who don't mind looking at spells on the internet. Not that they need defending I am just annoyed that is why I didn't start a new thread. Half of the thread seemed to be people who don't look at spells on the internet when the thread is about spell websites on the internet. Its just irritating. I write 99% of my spells as well.

Chances are people who come to this thread want to see spell websites like this one www.spelwerx.com (great website by the way very trad witch) not hear about how spell books are too stereotypical for you. Wupdeedoo. If you don't look at spell websites I repect that opinion but just don't contribute.

P.S. I wont argue this further.

I put in another vote for Cantrap, especially their section inspired by Dungeons and Dragons...now THERE are some fascinating ideas. Some people might find the concept rather crazy, but I think that it would take huge talent to be able to cobble real magic together from the rudimentary descriptions given in the game. I mean...yes, it's all very well and good to want to cast Magic Missile or something, but I doubt we can all get that pinch of bat's guano in order to cast Fizban's trusted standby...
Oh, modernwiccan.com is good as well.
