I am trying to get a hold of my fathers business. He started a Brake Shop a few years ago, but he was offered a job else where with A LOT of money. At the time my parents where getting divorced, so my Dad felt the need to put someone elses name on the business so that my mom wouldn´t take it from him. Now I´m older and in need of solid income, so I´m trying to work a deal with this "Partial owner" to make a partnership him and me. My Dad just want´s me to have his business, so I have to claim it back for him. So I spend all day trying to learn about brakes, cars, administration, going to banks, etc. :D

There´s more to this story than that, but basically this is it.

My job title is "Associate Brand Manager." What that means is I'm the marketing manager for Dunkin' Donuts, Baskin-Robbins and Togo's. For our non-US folks, those are the biggest chains of coffee, ice cream and sub shops nationwide.

Each day (after checking MW :mmm:) I oversee all the product development projects. This means anything from a new flavour of ice cream, to a breakfast sandwich or totally new type of coffee drink. I keep everybody on schedule (whipcrack noise), handle technology rollouts (i.e. Internet and alternate media marketing) and make sure that we meet our budgets.

And if I'm really lucky, it's "taste test" day:hearthear
I love my job . . . even on the weeks it's 60+ hours!

Im just curious. What does everyone do here if you have a job. Whats your job title and what do you do every day?

Although my professional background is actually in journalis, I don't really do that anymore. I am now the office manager for a jewelry store that specializes in high end watches. We carry Patek Philippe, Rolex, Omega, Rado, and Tag Heuer. I don't do anything until a salesperson sells a watch. Then, I perform the transaction. The money goes through me as well as all the paperwork. I place most of the orders with Rolex, do all of the invoicing, and other secretarial type things like filing.

This job has a lot of down time. We only sell about a few watches a day; it doesn't sound like much but when the watch is $700 or more (since Rolex and Pateks are considerably more) it's enough. So I spend a lot of time reading and working on my other job, my website.

Lets see...how did I end up here? In college I did an internship and they hired me, it was a media marketing research company. Where in we did surveys & focus groups on The Weather Channel, ESPN, and mostly southern local news stations. I used to do all their powerpoint presentations and reports. I put my resume up on Monster.com and my current company called me up for an interview. This is a financial company, I flunked finance in college. Just didn't like it, but this would be an escape from my current nightmare of a job plus it was in Boston and I thought it would be cool to work in the city. So I worked as a portfolio assistant for about a year, it sounds much more glamorous than it really is. Mostly you just take the numbers out of our reporting system and put them into Excel, print out a letter and send both to the client. Lots of downtime. In that downtime I started fooling around with pagemaker and powerpoint. They had an opening in our graphics department, which I went for 3 different times, I FINALLY made it and been in this position for about 3 years now.

Gotta tell you, most ads out there sound intimidating when they really are not. They may list all this hard stuff in their ads on Monster but when you get down to it its really basic. Good luck in your training!

I have a lot of downtime at my job (specially this time of year). I find it rather boring. Though sometimes we have quests that make it interesting.

Like the other day I had these 2 chinese guys make me listen to there music and than saying over and over "Mouse Eats Rice" I'm guessing that's the name of the band? So yeah some days I'm an interperter for languages I don't know...but it's cool. ^_^

I have more than one job:

1. I am a clarinetist with 2 groups.
2. I am a clarinet teacher.
3. I work part-time at Barnes and Noble just to get health insurance.
4. I am a homeowner.
5. I have been a volunteer at the humane society (haven't had time lately though), and at a folkdance center (got tired of that after 7 years).
6. I am a kitty-mommy.

I think that's it...I'll let you all know if I forgot anything! :)
