I am not from the Chicago area but I do know astarting place for you.. try this web site:

if you click on the 'world' button on top and select local group.. you can look for groups by area. It is how I discovered groups in Mpls. MN

Another option would be to check out the groups section on yahoo... those as well you can search by location.
