I was told by a fam trad witch that rue taken in large doses as a tea can abort. Is this true? I read in an unreliable book that in older days they used it for fertility. What's the deal?
Curious:confused:

Maybe I should say I was told that Rue induces menstruation and aborts in early stages. In any case, what have you heard?

if Rue were ever used for fertility purposes, it was most likely used sympathetically, not internally. But I do not know why it would work sympathetically...if it induces miscarriage.

I knew that Rue could be used for dispelling worms and parasites from the bowels, though. Because there would be severe cramping involved in that process..it just makes common sense, that it would also be able to cause miscarriage, and induce menstruation.

Thanks for the link, again Willow. I love that site.

Informative site, Willow. Thank you ever so much!
Yes that could be true. It could be that it was not taken internally when used for fertility.
