I have only recently started working on creating a 'medicine wheel' out of crystals .. the outer wheel is made of clear quarts points, the center is an amethyst cluster. I have yet to decide what crystals the center wheel and legs of the medicine wheel should be.

This is to be a healing wheel and used in energy healing, reiki, etc.

Any suggestions?

Wado in advance
(thank you)

I have heard of bad results when using crystals for medecine wheels. The energy created by the wheel can overpower them/ damage them.

True or not, I dont know.

This particular medicine wheel was something that my mentor and I have worked on. Selecting the Crystals specifically for what it is going to be used for.

I also have used the medicine wheel already even unfinished for healing purposes and have been told that the energy from it has been felt and appreciated.

That is cool. I'm not saying you shouldn't do it. I'm sure you have more knowledge and experience in this area than I do! :)

I participated in a lecure on medecine wheels by a local shaman who told us that her group had created one with crystals and that the energy of the wheel effectively "popped" and killed the crystals.

I just wanted to share this story with you to keep in mind (to take precautions, etc) when you create your wheel.

Please update this thread as you go, I would love to hear more about your experience.

Sounds more like you're building a reiki matrix or grid, rather than a medicine wheel...but i'm used to the Cree idea of a medicine wheel.

This is a good point, we may be talking about different things altogether. Ulisi: could you explain what you mean by "medicine wheel"? (layout, purpose, ritual, ect.)

I will keep you posted on how it goes.

I would like to hear more about what you call a reiki matrix or grid.
This is in the form of the a medicine wheel with the center cluster as the focus point. The other crystals either point away from or toward the cluster depending on the type of work required.

The reiki grid is pretty much what you've described - an array of crystals and stones constructed in any number of patterns, usually radiating out from a central crystal. Typically there are six, but I have grids that I use based on the number three, and the chakras.

They are constucted for raising and distributing energy for various purposes, and I know many Reiki practicioners charge the stones and then activate the grid so that it is constantly sending out energy for that purpose as long as it is in place.

A native medicine wheel is also a grid of stones, but they are constructed for the purpose of reflecting the Wheel of Life, and the Year. Medicine wheels generally have a small circle of seven stones in the center, and then a wider circle of twelve stones around that.

Wado (Thank you) Both for the links.

After looking at the material provided I think it is more a grid vs a medicine wheel. We do use the directions and coorespondances of the medicine wheel while using it though.
