Did anyone see the "tribute to heros" last night. What did you think? I enjoyed seeing some of my favorites, especially Dave Mathews. Billy Joel sounded great! Mariah I could have done without, personal opinion! Bob Dylan was cool too! Any thoughts, rants or raves?:)

I pretty much cried through the ENTIRE show. I thought Neil Young doing Imagine was a Historical event. Billy Joel doing NY state of mind, was incredible....Paul Simon doing "Bridge over troubled water" made me sob. He is a quintessential New Yorker...and his raw emotion, making it difficult for him to sing, was SO moving. Even the Celebrity Narrators, had trouble holding back their tears. I had the goosebumps through Celine Dion's "God Bless America".....
All in all, it was one of the most moving Television moments I have ever seen. I heard that they are thinking they raised over 30,000 dollars, so far. But that they won't know the entire amount until some time next week.
The Stars are Shining bright in our Country right now!!!! I've heard that many "Broadway" shows and plays are doing performances which all the proceeds will go to disaster relief, and that MANY celebrities are doing concerts which the funds will go to the same, and that they've made amazing personal contributions. Harley Davidson donated more than 100 motorcycles to the NYPD, etc....America is coming together like never before. It is a beautiful thing. I heard on "Chris Matthews Hardball"....that...Bin Ladin's followers, in essence, Bombed us back to what we are SUPPOSED to be. I agree. Bin Ladin has done nothing to us, but to make us STRONGER.
I grew up in the cynical eighties. I never considered myself patriotic. I had complaints about our government, and our society. I saw more aid being given to foreighn cultures, than to the people in our own back yard, and at times, it made me angry. But THIS...this AUTHENTIC American spirit, has woken me up. It has woken MOST of us up. No longer can we remain unmoved and cynical. This, my friends, is what America IS truly about. And I find myself Patriotic, and Proud to be American..because of the love, generosity, and courage that I see being displayed by all of our citizens during these times. :)

I saw bits and pieces. I saw Neil Young, Dylan, and Paul Simon and totally agree, great performances and I got choked up. Saw the Boss too, he's always amazing. I wish I would have caught Dave Matthews and Billy Joel.
I saw a portion of Mariah Carey. Didn't really pay much attention. I hate feeling like someone is singing AT me instead of to me so I rarely bother listening to her.
