Hi,
I have recurrent candida in both ears, which is the infection that is usually vaginal in most people, but i have only ever had it in the ears. I had this first about 18 months ago and went to the doctor and got topical drops, which didnt work, eventually the doc prescribed anti-fungal tablets which got rid of it. But now i have it again, have had it a few months. Ive been to the doctor about 3 times, she prescribed very strong anti fungal tablets for candida which settled it down a little, but then it spread into my Eustation tube and caused my ears to block up completely so that i couldnt hear for about a week. Then she prescribed a $60 nasal spray which has cleared up the Eustation tube so that i can hear, but im still having problems with my ears, being itchy and very moist, with the white candida in the ear instead of normal wax. Im at a loss of what to do. On top of that, ive had the flu recently and its developed into sinusitis, for which I've been using lukewarm salty water up the nose and out the mouth (which is what the doc suggested as the way she herself got rid of sinusitis) I've had the sinusitis before too.
What Im wondering, is there any foods that cause these sort of problems? I have other food allergies (namely coeliacs disease- gluten intolerance)
I live in a cold, fairly dry climate, its the middle of summer, and i only shower once a day, so its not like there's a lot of humidity. Ive had enough of doctors, they let me suffer for 12 years, told me that the agony of coeliacs disease was all in my head just because food allergies werent something doctors acknowledged.
Please dont tell me to go back to the doctor. Please help.

My Homeopathist gave me a brochure for this very thing and it listed all of the foods to avoid and why to avoid them. It is very rough sticking it out, but if you can just follow it for awhile until all of the yeast is eliminated, you can probably go back to eating the foods. The trick is to stop eating anything that the little yeast boogers feed off of.
Here is a list of the foods that were mentioned:
Sugar -- eliminate all forms of sugar, as it feeds the yeast and encourages its growth. These foods include: white sugar, brown sugar, honey, maple syrup, corn syrup, maple sugar, molasses, date sugar, turbinado, raw sugar, demerrara, amisake, rice syrup, sorghum.
Read labels carefully. The hidden sugars to watch for include: sucrose, fructose, maltose, lactose, glycogen, glucose, mannitol, sorbitol, galactose, monosaccharides, polysaccharides.
Fruit -- Fruit contain natural sugars that support the growth of yeast. The following foods should be eliminated:
Frozen, canned, and dried fruit
All canned and frozen fruit juice
Oranges and orange juice
Melons, especially cantaloupe. These fruit often contain mold.
Yeast -- Foods that contain yeast should be eliminated. These include: Baker's yeast, Brewer's yeast, Engevita, Torula, and any other nutritional yeast. Baked goods raised with yeast such as breads, rolls, crackers, bagels, pastries, and muffins should also be eliminated. Healthy, yeast-free alternatives may include: Sprouted Essene bread, Lifestream bread, Manna wheat or rye bread, corn tortillas, tacos, rice cakes, rice crackers, Wasa rye crackers, Dimpfelmeier's 100% Plus rye bread, and rice bread. Muffins, biscuits, pancakes, Irish soda bread, chapatis, and other breads made at home using the flour of whole grains that a person is not allergic to and made with baking powder and/or baking soda for leavening.
Vinegar -- Vinegar is made with a yeast culture. Foods that contain vinegar include: White vinegar, red wine vinegar, apple cider vinegar, balsamic vinegar, mayonnaise, commercial salad dressing, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, steak sauce, BBQ sauce, shrimp sauce, soy sauce, mustard, pickles, pickled vegetables, green olives, relishes, horseradish, mincemeat, chili sauce.
Mushrooms -- Mushrooms are fungi. Eliminate all mushrooms.
Peanuts, Peanut Butter, and Pistachios -- Peanuts, peanut butter, and pistachios often have high mold contamination and should be eliminated.
Alcohol -- Alcoholic beverages provide sugar that feeds the yeast and stresses other organs such as the liver. Eliminate all forms of alcohol, including red wine, white wine, beer, whiskey, brandy, gin, scotch, any fermented liquor, vodka, rum, and all liqueurs.

well Dio, I really hate this diet, but it's working! Better than any of the doctors medicines did. And after only 2 days on the diet! Unbelieveable. Giving up sugar sucks. Diet vanilla coke is saving me from giving up though.

A couple of things I thought I'd mention as I don't know what your environment is like. Do you have cigarette smoke around you at all? It contributes to sinusitis and ear infections. Also can you eat yogurt and/or take acidophilous pills? They are natural yeast killers... :)

Well, I'm glad it's helping!
I had to do it for awhile too...it was sooo hard. But I suppose you're willing to do ANYTHING to get rid of something that is so chronic :)

acidophillus pills are even better than eating yogurt, especially the ones from the health food store where they keep them in the fridge so the bacteria lives longer. i buy flora brand that has seven different kinds of good bacteria in it and it really helps.

oh, yes...definately cut out the sugars. I am diabetic and I get yeast infections in places I didn't even know existed...lol...I get them under my arms and anywhere there is a fold of skin, but only when my diabeties is out of control. antifungals help too, but it is better for me to keep my sugars in check, as this eliminates these infections.

thanks djmixon, that Yeast Elimination Diet list is extraordinarily helpful!! Recently I've been trying to cut down on my meat intake but Im eating it every day now, i guess because there is not much else I can eat on Phase 1 of the diet except vegetables, and rice. I miss chocolate the most i think but its getting easier to resist it every day.
Unfortunately the one thing i have to have is coffee, i cannot survive getting up for work at 5am every day with nothing but herbal tea. However, I am starting to feel a lot better, more energetic, more clear....sort of like i was walking around in a cloud but now its gone.
And i have a lot more sympathy for diabetics now, i can tell you! And I've only been on the diet for 5 days! Thanks everyone for your advice and support. I will keep you updated.
