This is just kind of for laughs, but does anyone have any strange familiars or pet companions? I'm allergic to cats and dogs, and my bunny peed all over my parents' carpet, so I'm sort of lacking in a pet companion. Kind of. Here's where the joke part comes in. You know that computer program Catz? Well I have Catz 2, I found it cheap at Half Price Books. It's strange, I love the little kitties so much! They're almost like real pets. I don't drag my computer into my room when I have a ritual, but you get what I mean.

Do you guys have weird pets or weird familiars or stories about them?

I have a pet ball python and a fat cat. I also have a ghost who is like my guardian. I've had him ever since I was little and I used to think he was a closet monster, so I named him Klutter. But now I realize what he is and I cherish him greatly. He does silly things like moving things, opening and closing doors, turning lights on and off, and other "ghostly" things.
I kind of think of him as a familiar sometimes, because I know that he helps me with my magick, but I consider him to be my guardian first and foremost.

I have a cat and snake too! My snake is a Calf. King Snake. My cat likes to sit under my rocking chair, where if she is not careful, I could come down on her! I also have a ghost/spirit that has been near me for the longest time. She moves things form time to time, but mostly she just hangs around quietly. Though I can feel her energy. I have a snake as a spirit familiar as well, I had him for years, but when I got my pet snake last year, he change his pattern to match it. I guess that means he's happy about it.

interesting.. I've never heard of digipets being familiars before! :D

I don't really have a familiar right now. My middle cat is always attracted to any energy (loves to curl around me when I'm doing yoga) but he's way too impatient to sit and help during meditation or anything. :)

For those who don't know, some articles on what a familiar is -

We have a rabbit, two cats, and a dog, but only one of the cats is my familiar. It goes beyond being a pet et cetera. For instance when I cast a circle or set up my altar where they can get to it all of them will try to get on or in it - animals like positive energy and magick as much as we do! But my black cat Orion is the only one who is really "familiar" to me, who I can communicate with and communicates with me, and I can see the world through his eyes, et cetera.

I know what you mean Willow Raven. I have a spirit of a snake as a familiar that has been my spirit guide. But, my pet snake is just that a pet. As for the cat, it is my roommates familiar. The cat is nice to me (a pet), but it does help my roommate out, with healing enery. My roommate has kindney problems. I few months after his problems started his cat had liver problems. Mean while my roommate's kindys now work at 60% instead of near 0. The doctors thought he would never get pass 40% or so. I think the cat took some of his illiess, for itsself.

This is a li'l OT but a similar thing happened with my dad and my previous familiar. When my dad started getting infections in his foot my familiar at the time also hurt his toes on the same foot in the front. Another complication of one of my dad's health problems is kidney problems, meanwhile as he was having problems with that my familiar then had kidney failure and died. It was very sad, but sometimes I wonder too if he took on some of the illness for my father.

I have a cat who is my familiar...she found me when we in TX. I was standing out on our little street one night watching the full moon come up and this cat started winding around my legs and purring. I petted her awhile and went in the house. Well, she beat me in the door and wouldn't leave. When I put her out she sat on the stoop and meowed. I let her back in and she jumped into my arms and started purring. I've had Isis ever since. My first familair was a beautiful black male cat with big green eyes named Enkidu. After Hurricane Floyd went thru our area he got really sick and passed on. I was so heartbroken. We still have Enkidu's brother Gilgamesh who is my hubby's familiar.

No funny familiars. Just my "psycho kitty". We actually have three cats. Only one of which is my familiar: Lydia. She even looks and acts just like me. She is companion to only me, though she is polite to others. And she is the only cat that has ever sent me warnings (other than I'm late with food.) And the only one I can take into trance with me. We have a pet snake that live under the porch, but he's no familiar.

My family has 3 cats and 1 dog.... my beautiful kitten's name is Maggie, who is on my lap right now resting her chin on my arm. I got her as a give last Christmas from a friend. She's black and white, and will eat anything she gets her little paws on, loves Cheese and yogurt. Whenever I try to read tarot cards, Magz Likes to get in them and roll around.

We have 3 black cats, which just happen to be coincedince. We found Merlin (the daddy cat, Liras familiar) in a hurricane in NC, the we got Mystic (Mommy cat, a silver siamese, mine) whom we had to get rid of latter due to an illness. Then we have Magick (my familiar) and Manna (my daughters cat, and altar warmer) both sons of Merlin and Mystic.

I never really considered the concept of familiars before now. Strange. Though I do have a beautiful maine coon / calico who I am closer to than anyone. My cat's name is Patches. She was adopted by my family before she was born, so I did not get to name her :) She's almost 18 now. Oh, I love her. She is, like, my mother. I do not think I could live without her.

My pet familiar is a cat that looks like Socks, Bill Clinton's cat. Poor kitty. His name is Boots, aka Bookie (Boo-key). He was a thanksgiving gift 8 or 9 years ago. He follows me nearly everywhere. EVERYWHERE. I recall once, during my preteen years I was attempting telepathy. I envisioned our living room to my cat. Two seconds later, he jumped off his little kitty perch, and walked over to the living room door, meowing to be let in. I can usually send him
"image commands" but I can't read his mind.

My cat Joker, is possibly hermaphroditic...Three different vets couldn't place his gender, and I call him a 'he' out of habit more than anything.

I haven't any pets at this time...but wanted to add that a witch I really respected had turtles cause she was allergic to fur. I also know of another woman familiar is a bird...so may be for others who are allergic to fur these animals would work...
