Tarot, Plain and Simple
by: Anthony Louis.
This is a great book for somewhat experienced readers. This book include breif paragraphs about tarot journals, reversals, numerology and the tarot, the major arcana, and the minor arcana. This book is mostly made up of the cards, however. As a reader, I use this by my side when I read. The book has a couple pages for each card. Each card, includes a picture of the card from the Robin Wood deck, along with descriptions, People descriptions, and Situation and Advice descriptions.
This book is a great resource, and includes all the above information for reversals as well. This is a trusty book to have by your side during a reading, it's so elaborate.
Rating = 4.5/5 stars. :thumbsup:

Weight Loss-Tarot Spell
items needed:
The MAGICIAN is superimposed over the Significator Card.. the card you feel represents you-- to signify the subject's commitment to shape and improve his/her own personal health.
These cards are crowned by THE WORLD, standing for health, harmony, and wholeness.
It is sided by STRENGTH to show the physical side of the well-being, and The SUN, which depicts the emotional well-being that affects and is affected by full health.
a full length mirror and have it set up in a well-lit room (sunlit if possible and outside is even better). Have a place where the cards can be laid out nearby.
also you may include:
flowers, candles-- orange purple and red can be used for health and white represents pure energy and harmony
This spell can be performed at any time if there is a need -- but is best performed during a Waning Moon to banish unwanted weight
It is best performed in the early morning, especially before an exercise session. It will help you start your morning in a good frame of mind and will put your mind in focus for living healthy all day.
Here is a ritual that can be done before the spell to help focus and build energy
Ritual--Arrange some time that you will be alone... about an hour. if you have music available put on something that will be calm and serene and meditative. Take a relaxing bath, imagining strongly that you are cleansing not only your body, but your soul and spirit as well.
You will need a clean flat surface to use as an altar and to lay out your cards on... what ever you choose to use. Set out an incense burner .. i like sandal wood or patchouli incense for this spell. Set up your candles and other accessories.. have your cards ready but not laid out yet.. Have a Dark Blue candle on the left of your altar area for the Goddess and a Gold or Orange Candle for the God.. Light the candles and take a few deep breaths. Feel yourself connecting to these energies. Hold this meditative state as long as is necessary for you to connect and say in these or similar words:
(you may have four candles to represent the elements by color .. Green for earth, Red for fire, Yellow for air, and Blue for Water... and light each candle as you say)
I call now upon the Earth,
Far plains and lofty mountains
For power and strength to my spell
As I light this candle is summoning
I call now upon Air
ruler of the skies
And the far wheel of Eternity
For power and strength to my spell
As I light this candle is summoning
I call now upon Fire
That burns in the core of the Earth
At one with the energies of Life itself
For power and strength to my spell
As i light this candle in summoning
I call now upon Water
Broad lakes, ever-moving streams
And the boundless ocean
For power and strength to my spell
As I light this candle in summoning
Pause for the length of five heartbeats, then pick up the Tarot deck and remove the significant cards for the spell and say:
Reaching into the far distant past
I draw forth these symbols
For that which my spell shall be cast
Here shall be woven Chance, Fortune and Fate
that my deepest wish shall be attained.
Set your Significator card in place while thinking about your desire to remake yourself healthier and more perfect form.
Set The Magician over your Significator card while considering some of the steps you will take to bring about these changes.. exercise nutrition etc.
Put The World in its place and consider all the area of your life that will be affected by a holistic well-being with mind and body in harmony
To the left of the World set Strength, while thinking about strength vigor,
and stamina that you will attain and maintain. visualize yourself utilizing the strength you have to the best possible intent. Feel the strength of the God/Goddess within you and know that you can rely on that power!
To the right of The World set the Sun in place, while picturing yourself walking in the sunlight, enjoying the glow of total health.
Once your cards are all in place, stand in front of the mirror , or sit if it is not full length.. STudy your body while you spread your arms upward and outward. Visualize yourself as a tree, with limbs reaching up toward the sky and the universe, leaves drawing sustenance from the Sun, roots draw the power of the Sun and the EArth and all living things through your body. You feel this energy being processed to build strength, vitality and wholeness. You feel the power flowing in through your body and out again, making the body stronger and better and very well toned. As you continue to imagine how this power would flow, look again at yourself in the mirror and see yourself not as you are, but as glowing skin, the radiance of health and beauty. After you have sustained the visualization exercise in front of the mirror for a few minutes, carefully and with as much feeling as you can recite the following--
I call upon the strength of the Earth, the vitality of the Sun, and the life
force within me!!
Power flows through my body.
It purges and purifies all that is harmful
It fills every cell of my body with radiant health.
Strength and beauty shine through me
I honor my body
I shape my body
I nourish my body with good food and good thoughts
My mind and body are in harmony and i am whole and healthy!
So it is and so mote it be!

I'm confused.. what is this?
http://www.mysticwicks.com/showthread.php?t=83613
Basically it's a 3-ring binder with pages for you to explore Tarot cards, decks, spreads, record readings, etc.... You'll have a choice of a plain binder (recycled cardboard) that you can decorate, or I'll offer customizing options as well, such as your name in collage, pictures, etc..... I'm working on the pages now. That thread I just posted a link to has examples of some of the pages I'm working on. It's a guided journal, not just blank pages. There are questions designed to make you think about the cards, get into them, explore them, etc...
And it's going to be $20 in the U.S. or $22 for international. That price includes the binder, the paper, the tabs, the cost of printing, my putting it together and shipping. Any profit goes to MysticWicks to help with server costs and stuff.

Robin Wood Tarot Deck
Personally, this is my favorite deck. I love how Robin Wood expresses the colors, using them much more gently than the original Rider- Waite deck. This is a Waite based deck, and you can see the relations in a lot of the cards.
The cards are clearly numbered in Arabic numberals, and are easy to read. Each card is very colorful, and deals a great deal with nature. The cards also do not have the harsh, bland colors that the Rider-Waite deck has. The cards are also pagan oriented, showing lots of pagan symbolism and references. For example, the High Preistess is wearing a pentacle necklace.
The cards are much more nature than a lot of other decks. The High Preistess, for example, is a woman smiling with flowing dark hair in the forest. The cards are something we can associate and relate with, and are a joy to read with. They are clear, and you get an eased feel from them, and they really allow your intuitive juices to flow.
These cards are easy for begginers to read, yet more experienced readers will love them too. I highly recommend this deck to anyone, as you will find them a joy to read, just as I have!!

Tarot Book Review: The Tarot Directory by Annie Lionnet
This book is a great reference guide. Its unique setup allows you to
flip easily through different sections. It has tabs for 'tarot basics',
'major arcana', 'minor arcana', 'the reading', and 'case histories'. For
each card, it shows a picture of the card with a few side notes
pointing out the symbols, a brief description of the card, information
about symbolism, and interpretation. It also shows a few other
pictures of the same cards from different decks, to show how they
differ, but how the symbolism remains pretty much the same. This
book is great for beginners, I have loaned it to friends who are just
starting out, and its also good for people who know their way
around the cards a bit, but still need some information.

No particular guidelines, although less than 3 or 4 pages would probably be a good idea :D Don't want it to get too huge!

Aine, here is a spell I wrote:
Tarot Protection: Written by: RhiamonButterfly
Materials:
a black candle (for protection)
a white candle (for purity of heart and harmony)
the 10 of Cups (to represent the family)
*also, you can use any other tools you may want, including stones, incense, etc.
1) charge and dress your candles using any protection oil you have. Then put the white candle to the left of the tarot card, and the black candle to the right, then light them both.
Hold your hands, palms down, over the candles and card, and imagine energy from the candles, the card, and your hands all swirling up into the air and forming a protective circle around the family members. Imagine them all happy and safe. When you have this image, repeat the following:
"card of Tarot, guide us today
Candle burning, light our way
Protect my family night and day
All good spirits come to me
All bad spirits have to flee
Guard us all from negativity
With harm to none, including me
this spell is sealed, so mote it be!"
2) Let candles burn out on their own, and you can carry the card with you for as long as needed, or keep it in a place that is visible to you at all times.
* As Dorothy Morrison advises in her book Everyday Tarot Magic, you can photocopy your tarot card to use, so you don't damage the real card during the spell.

The Reading, by Dragon Lady of Water.
I reach for you,
you call my eye,
my mind calls out,
with questions nigh,
my heart calls louder,
with questions true,
the answers come,
to dispell my truth.
I see visions,
I see dreams,
I see the others,
what could it mean?
Show me the meaning,
show me my path,
I will follow,
I'm your empath.
There's my poem submission, not sure if it is what you were looking for. :)

When I started looking for my first Tarot deck, I only had one rule: no black and white decks. Then I found the Victoria Regina Tarot.
Sarah Ovenall, the deck's creator, has re-enlivened Victoria's England. Using collages of images drawn (with one exception) directly from the period, she evokes a turning point in cultural history that brings the lessons of the Tarot out of the metaphorical and into the solidly human, making readings conversations with the cards, rather than lectures from them.
Objects invented or significantly improved during the era represent the suits of the minor arcana: guns for swords, pens for wands, Mason jars for cups, and clocks for discs. This invites the reader to consider less common interpretations of the cards' messages. What happens when we think about wands energy in creative endeavors? Do guns have an urgency that swords don't? More than just money or physical health, how does the suit of discs speak to our relationship with time? Mason jars are still basically cups, but the names on the jars - Bell, Ideal, Improved, etc. - provide ample food for thought.
Being black and white becomes one of the deck's greatest advantages. The cards are well shaded, and the lack of color both calls forth the atmosphere of the era and a subtlety of imagery that color would obscure. I find something different in each card every time I draw it. Take, for example, the Six of Clocks. A well-dressed woman in a carriage distributes clocks to a group of ragged beggars. In some readings, I notice the woman, who speaks to how I view those in need around me. Other times I'm drawn to the beggars and to an examination of how I ask for the things I need in life - and how I react when they're given to me.
If you prefer working with reversals, this may not be the deck for you, since the backs have easily distinguished tops and bottoms. But the imagery of each card carries a warning that makes it as balanced as any that can use reversals. Consider the Chariot, which shows a young woman riding a bicycle through a busy street, ignoring the hubbub around her. Control through force of will, the card says; imposing order on the chaos of everyday life. But be careful: too much concentration on maintaining control over your personal life can cause unhealthy isolation from the rest of the world.
One of the best things about the Victoria Regina Tarot is a sense of sacred play that comes through clearly in the cards and the companion book. This was a labor of love for Ovenall, and it's apparent that she has great respect for the history and practice of Tarot. But she wants us to guard against taking the cards or ourselves too seriously. Nowhere is this clearer than in the Hanged Man, the only card whose primary image isn't from the period. This man was originally a dancer in a Monty Python animated sketch! And be sure to check out Ovenall's website, http://www.thefool.com, where you can download your very own Happy Squirrel card.
Startlingly new as the cards sometimes seem, Ovenall modeled most of her imagery on the Rider-Waite. So this is an ideal deck for beginners, or anyone who appreciates the Rider-Waite's archetypal symbolism but not its art. The cards' lush images also recommend it to intuitive readers. The Victoria Regina Tarot offers something for Tarot readers and enthusiasts at all level of expertise - and to those who simply love the all things Victoriana.
