Do you personally believe within your self, (not just via what you have been told) that there is a Hell that one will go to if one explores other religions? Do you believe that questioning and exploring, or even doubting the divinity of Christ would mean that you must go to hell? I obviously cannot answer those questions for you, but personally, I think that a god that would send you to hell just because you had the audacity to not take to heart every word you have been spoon fed, would be a very vengeful god, and not very Christ-like. There are many Christian Witches and Christian Wiccans, and Christian Pagans around this board, and there are even some threads dedicated to these in the Paths forum, where you might find more info and support on a path that could incorporate all of your beliefs.

Um, well according to the Bible you are not going to hell by investigating or learning more about a certain religion. Christians are people with brains too and God doesn't mind if we use 'em. Just my thought.

I guess it depends on what you believe deep down. The answer you seek is within yourself, you already know, sometimes it takes time to discover these things. Try to quieten your soul and listen. You will find the truth there.

According to mainstream Christian belief it's not whether you're good or bad, it's simply a matter of whether you've accepted Christ as Savior. Period. Nothing else counts, the best person in the world goes to Hell if they haven't accepted Christ, and the worst person in the world goes to Heaven if they have accepted Christ.
Mind you, I'm not a mainstream Christian, so my beliefs are massively different than that.... I don't even believe in Hell! And I believe Heaven is union with the Divine and it can be acheived by anyone who truly seeks it, regardless of professed religion. It's the act of Faith, not what you have faith in...
crazed2insanity, look in your heart. Do you truly believe what you've been told is in the Bible? Have you read it for yourself? If not, I highly suggest it. Hell as most Christians describe it doesn't exist in the Bible!
If you don't believe it, then don't worry about it. If you do believe you're going to Hell, then you really need to ask yourself what you're doing here.

The word of God, God in a universal (applying to all paths-Islam, Christian etc.), has been seriously edited by mankind. Many people disagree, but there are certain clues that point to this as truth. Such as when they found the "True Gospal of Jesus" and the Roman Catholic church declared it as herecy. I don't even know whether or not they took the time to read/translate the material.
When mankind sees something as a threat, they tend to condem it more often than accept it. So my advice to you: Follow your heart, and not an editorial piece of art.

I've been raised a Roman Cath. My theology teacher in my Christian high school was the one who spurred me to look for my own spirituality. He accepted that my views collided with catholicism and made me endeavour developing and researching a personal, individual path. I won't go to Hell. I've been there. They didn't like me.

Well seeing as I'm ruling Hell now, feel free to re-apply at anytime. I'm looking for a few good overlords, as well as some input on redecorating this place!

I don't care for noise either... I've passed a law banning all excessive noise, screaming in agony is not allowed... Of course that eliminates torture.....

If you read the bible you will find that Gods plan is everyone to live forever.Jesus said that the way to tell is someone is a christian is they heal laying on hands, lift up serpents, drink all manner of posions unharmed.Fundys see it as literal but it means heal people with magic, study all religons and tranform the world

That's one of MANY possible interpretations... Another is that Jesus never said it, somebody else made it up....

if you truly believe that you will go to hell, then you probably will... but i don't believe in hell, so i'm definitely not going there. it all depends on what you believe. if you believe in what the bible says, and if you think that learning about/becoming wiccan is wrong, then why bother doing it?

Amen! (Christian witch, myself).
Follow your heart, your gut...your instinct. And remember that a lot of what is preached as Christianity is not how the faith started out. The Bible has gone through many translations. Investigate, read, learn.

Nobody has been too specific on anything. There are some ridiculous passages in the bible. As far as I know most Non Catholics don't have confessionals. Do they all go to hell? Did God really write the bible or did he trust his kids to get it right? Either way it could be wrong. If people wrote it they could have stuck in their own little messages or anything else. If it really did come straight from God the translators could have screwed it up somewhere along the line. Is God angry and merciless or loving and forgiving, it can't be both can it? What about the scientific explanations they have come up with for Sodom and Gomorrah? Does that mean the bible is a bunch of trash? If God is all knowing but we have free will does that mean he knows what we will do in the future? If he does then do we really have free choice?
I don't really believe in anything but my take on it is that if there is a God he wouldn't need this endless praise and worship all the churchgoers give. It seems like this God of theirs has too many human traits to be perfect anyways.

I could give you my answers to your questions, but I don't want to hijack the thread. Suffice it to say, I agree the Bible has been through so many translations by fallible humans that I do not believe it is THE Word....literal & absolute. And I believe that all gods, goddesses, and spirits get anthropomorphized by humans, so they all seem human so we can relate to them. It's just human nature to make things like us so we can understand them.

<Did God really write the bible >no,it was written by alot of humans that is why it is meant to be symbolic alot of mythology is symbolic. It is one path tward wisdom
In Hebrew the words "light be and light was' was translated into 'God said let ther be light'
The Greek word for 'grave' was translated into 'hell'
When the dead sea scroll were found, churches tried for years to keep them hidden.
You can worship a church or Divine.Jesus said'God is love" Witches believe 'love shall be the whole of the law'

If researching Wicca makes you feel uncomfortable, but you're interested in it, you could start by exploring other Christian groups. Look at the ones who are supportive of other religions, or the ones that are universalists (i.e. salvation belongs to everyone). Read some sermons and explore Christianity from that point of view. Maybe that will comfort you that there are many Christianities and not all of them would say you're going to hell if you research Wicca. If that makes you feel more comfortable looking into other religions (and for me I think it did), then go for it.

Yep, there are a lot like that here on MW (not me). In addition to dj, Aine of the Fae and Charmedkisses might be able to help too.
There is also a big discussion going on about which books to include in your Bible. Some say to add Gnostic gospels, or take out Paul's letters, while others advocate no change or other changes. They haven't discussed if one should use the Catholic Bible (with 73 books) over the Protestant Bible (with 66 books) or vice-versa, if one isn't going to change it.
Enjoy your path-

:ggrief: It's all rather confusing to me....:imout:
It needn't be.
Then the king will say to those on his right, 'Come, you who are blessed by my Father. Inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world. For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, a stranger and you welcomed me, naked and you clothed me, ill and you cared for me, in prison and you visited me.' Then the righteous will answer him and say, 'Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you drink? When did we see you a stranger and welcome you, or naked and clothe you? When did we see you ill or in prison, and visit you?' And the king will say to them in reply, 'Whatever you did for one of these least brothers of mine, you did for me.'
The way I read this, if it turns out the Christians are right, people of all faiths (or of no faith) can still qualify if they led a life of compassion.
