Merry Meet!

I was wondering if anyone had any ideas for a First Degree Initiation ritual. I know that some of you are under an Oath of your Tradition and cannot divulge such information, but for those who are not, I would be interested in any ideas you may have. I have researched initiations and see that most include the ritual stages of: the Purification, the Challenge, the Ordeal, the Oath
the Presentation of Tools, and the Proclamation as a recognized Priest/Priestess and Witch. I would love to hear any ideas you may have, or some personal experiences. Thanks!

Sounds great. Is this initiation ritual part of a tradition, circle, or coven, and is it a self initiation or an initiation of someone else?

Hello Willow Raven!

This first degree initiation would be of a male into a circle, after 2 years of study. Any ideas?

Hm depends on the trad as far as details but I think you've already brought up some excellent ideas. The only other way I've heard of doing it is by having a symbolic death of the initiate and rebirth into the tradition - possibly doing some ritual to play out their death or burning some symbol of their previous life, then another for their rebirth into the trad. Could include some imagery of the womb, the cauldron, great goddess, underworld, eggs, or anything else that makes sense to the trad.

I think this is reminding me quite well why I'm a solitary practicioner.

Willow Raven,

Those are some wonderful ideas! Our circle is mostly eclectic, some Gardnerian ritual structure, and we revere the Celtic pantheon of Gods and Godesses. :rotfl: :rotfl:
