I found somewhere what the different colors of the ankh means. I don't know if it was on here or elsewhere. Anyone know? Like black stands for life regeneration after death, or something like that... I read there is red, green, etc. Thanks in advance!

hmm, i will have to find this information. all i know from my college course in history of ancient egypt and introduction to hieroglyphs is that the ankh means eternal life. i would, however, really be interested in knowing if there is color meanings to the ankh. i have a grey and black stone ankh tattooed on my stomach. heh.

The Ankh does not simply represent life, it is life. That is to say, that technically the word "ankh" is not the name of the symbol of the Ankh, but is the word represented by that glyph in written hieroglyphs. But I digress... ;)
The use of color is a common symbolic tool implemented in Egyptian/Kemetic mythology and imagery, and yes certain colors tended to carry consistent meanings, such as green and black for fertility, or red for severity. That said, I don't know that I've personally heard of any specific use of colorizing the Ankh, but I'd bet it would carry the same connotations as when those colors are used elsewhere. So, to reiterate your example, a black ankh could certainly represent regeneration (just as the "black land" of Egypt was regenerated by the annual flood). I dare not speculate on what other colors could be though... red ankh might represent the preciousness of life? Just not sure.

Well, if anyone finds out, please let me know, I have a huge purple ankh inked on my stomach. I have always liked blues and purples, and the ankh is part of a collage made up of a peace sign and a pentacle...happy v-day all

Thought i'd post this again:
They were different colours! I went to a lecture on Egyptian amulets a several weeks ago, and the colour and material WAS important! As was the cord it was on and any knots that were in them! Black and green were linked with growth and regeneration, blue and turqiouse were heavenly colours, and red was linked with either solar power or chaos and evil. Carnelian represented energy and power, and also sadness. Lapis Lazuli represented the night sky, joy and delight. Jasper represented delight. Cowrie shells protected against the evil eye. They could be made out of faience, gold, precious stones, or other metals. The knots were significant, and usually seven were tied into the cord. So yes. It does matter what the ankh -- or any Egyptian amulet -- was made from, what colour it was, and what cord it was on. They placed a lot of importance on this, especially for funerary practices. They placed hundreds of amulets at various places on a mummy, and the spells of the Book of Coming Forth by Day detail what must be said over them and what they should be made of. So now you know.
bright blessings,
argent

Because the person was acting on the advice I gave in the last post in that thread you referenced, although I had meant to post the question in an existing thread, not start a new one.
Regardless, I don't think there's been much harm done. :whatmewor

heh. I, too, had never heard of this, but.... Google is my bosom buddy, so here's me trying to find out.
A half hour later, I'm still not finding anything useful or relevant.
But here are your colors and their symbolic meanings from an ancient Egyptian perspective: Ancient Egyptian Colors (http://www.egyptianmyths.net/colors.htm)
