I have a cat that eats spiders. Just now, she slurped down a worm. I have never, ever seen any cat doing anything so weird as this. This isn't normal is it? In addition, she loves cheese, peanut butter, and coconut, but she'll eat pretty much anything off the floor. Is there something wrong with this cat?! :imout:

whenever the food gets on the ground, she'll go running to eat it. I had peanut butter on my hand once, and she kept licking and licking and licking until it was all gone, and even afterwards. She'll generally clean up the kitchen like a dog - before we can get the broom out. She's crazy! :halohead: :hahugh:

We only let her generally eat what's on the floor (well, not even necessarily "let" her - she just starts eating it up!!). But my sister is terrified of spiders, so she'll grab the cat and let her chomp down on the things. Makes them both pretty happy! 8O :lookwhats

My sister's cat (living with me at the moment) is that way. I don't know about spiders, but she used to steal meal worms from the turtle. Once upon a time she was picky (well, except for the meal worms) but the dog has corrupted her. Leave any plate where she can get it and she will take at least a taste. Let her see you eating and she will demand a taste. Do not atempt to eat cheese in her presense without her if you aren't wearing kevlar pants (she will try to climb up to it.)

She is still, however, unimpressed with catnip.

I think your cat is perfectly normal. All cats are different but all of mine have had their own likes and dislikes for "human" food and chasing bugs or other crawling things. I have one cat who at 15 years old will still jump onto the top of a door to catch and eat a moth! She will eat spiders too. As long as your kitty isn't eating anything that would pose a threat to its health I wouldn't worry about it. :)

Your cat is fine...I have come to the conclusion that there is very little normal when it comes to what a cat will and will not eat. Neither of mine will touch people food meat but they will both eat oreo cookies, one of them likes cornbread but actually assaulted a friend of ours for giving her milk when we were away. (I know milk is bad for them but he didn't he thought he was being nice)

Heck cats are weird period the other one I have barks on occasion and stands up on his hind legs to look over things instead of hoppin on top of something to see.

Never underestimate the insanity of felines.

*looks around to see if any of my cats heard that*

My cats like to eat those cave crickets that like to wander around in my basement. I find the legs of them all over my house. Guess they like to soft body, not the cruncy legs. I have lived here 10 years and it was only last year that I saw one alive and intact.

I have one cat who will get his head stuck in a glass going after milk if I am not watching.

Moths...yup- funny to watch them chase after them too.

Plastic bags (to lick), styrofoam... and I am sure there is more that I just can't think of.

Mine go on roach patrol for me if ever there's one in the house...I come downstairs in the morning and find bug parts all over the house...a leg here, a leg there...LOL

Bono likes to play with these big rubberbands I buy him, but Guinness ate one...I was scooping the litter box and I found a hot pink poop in there...yep it was the rubberband! lol

Mine loves to eat bugs too, or more like just their heads. Yuck!

And she likes pizza crusts and anything that resembles gravy or sauce.
And she also loves plastic bags and rubber bands as well.
She won't scratch a scratching post, but she will scratch the cardboard box things that they make special for cats.

I had a kitty once who absolutely, positively loved the big peanut butter taffies we'd get at holloween in the wax wrappers. I hated them. I'd give them to him without the wrapper of course and he always wanted more. Funny kitties.

My cats eat bugs of all sorts, and spiders. I have one that likes to swallow anything string-like, so I have to watch out. He also likes to lick photographs and the glue off of envelopes. :whatgives

My cats are the same way with food. One of my cats, Toby, will eat ranch dressing and stuff like that. The spider/worm thing I've never heard of. But I'm sure it's not very unusual, especially from others saying in this thread that their cats do the same thing.

My dog eats spiders. One time, I thought it was super cute because she was getting really fat, but it turns out she ate a poisonous spider and there was doctors and medicine involved after that, not so cute. I have a cat with a diaper fetish and one with a hair fetish. *shrug*

Let's see...

My deceased cat Richard...he was spoiled from the get-go, because he was bottlefed. But no matter, he still was quite convinced that anything we were eating was meant for him as well...so...

Popcorn, potato chips, cheese, ice cream--he was especially fond of peanut-butter and vanilla flavors--. And last but not least--he slurped spaghetti. Yes. He slurped it like a human. And he'd get sauce in his fur and be all nasty and comical-looking.

And our cat Baby...
We're convinced she's got some goat in her bloodline. The cat will eat ANYTHING that doesn't try to eat her first...and even then...she, too, likes going on moth patrol. She's eaten grapes, cheese, rice, broccoli, silk flowers, toilet paper (unused)...and paper. Yes. PAPER. Specifically...and you probably won't believe this, but it's true...my geometry homework.

"Ma'am, I really did my homework, but I only have part of it."
"Where's the rest?"
"My cat ate it."
*skeptical look*
"No, really. She ate it." *holds up mangled remnants*
*stare, then she slowly walked away*

I kid you not.

Artemis loves insects and creepy crawlies. She'll eat worms if you offer them to her I think. She loves crickets and will eat grasshoppers too. But don't put a hamster or mouse in front of her it might kill her. haha

Well, my cat goes nuts over ladybugs and Cheetos, her two favorite foods. She'll also eat Doritoes, fried chicken, anything with gravy on it, and all plants with the exception of bonsai and catnip.

Eh, they do that!

Most of my cats eat spiders or some sort of bug and try to get into any food possible. I have one cat that loves it when an errant moth gets into the house. He rips their little wings off and eats them. I swear he gets some sort of twisted pleasure out of it!

My cats are insanely picky, but it seems yours is perfectly normal. Cats vary in what they like to eat :) Mine like bugs. My female is our champion bug killer, but the male isn't too bad. He kinda likes to play with them more than eat them, but I've seem him wolf millers down, too. *ick* Female won't touch most people food - occassionally wants a bit of turkey or chicken or ham, but only a nibble. My male is also picky, but he loves milk (no matter how bad for him it is, he just *loves* it, so he gets a wee bit every once in a while)... he also loves alfredo sauce, and cheddar cheese, and ice cream... Milky things. Mmm. My female loves plants. *scowl* My plants, unfortunately...
