Was reading Google News and I found this story today :

What do you think? For you pro-life people, how do you feel about it? There is no choice in this case.

I know this sounds crass, but wht can't we work on dead and/or aborted babies. Or for that matter dead adults. That is why we donate organs!!!
No need to make life just to use it in expermints. I think that is just totally wrong. Of course I don't think any animal experiments are right, encluding human; (we are animals too after all) unless we personally agree to do it.

There are so many pro's and con's on this issue. It's a very sticky subject. It would have to be monitored and regulated very very strictly.

Woah, unstable ground here... this topic is almost as big as the abortion debate.. My opinion, I don't think human cloning is okay, in th sense that the whole being would be created. I am still torn, on the cloning organs... I mean people would live longer, if they had a duplicate set of their organs. But who wants to live forever? In both examples, I feel that is not cool to try to play God or Goddess. Even in the name of science and humanity...

:fofftopic

Just for a minute, it still pertains to the topic of cloning..

I *JUST* wrote a report on it, and let me tell you, cloning is NOT worth it. Stem cell research is ten times better for organ reproduction, and you don't have to create a life and deal with the consequences (did you know adult stem cells are just as good, if not better, than embryonic stem cells? Also, the umbilical cord is FULL of them)

(what would hitler have done with clones? :strike: )

how can you trust this guy? think about it... when he cloned dolly, he SWORE he wouldn't touch humans.. now he's cloning embryos... next, say hello to Adam and Eve.

The whole cloning debate has been a long time worry of mine. A good few years ago my mum sat on a public opinion cloning debat seminar and we talked a lot about it after she came back. We both came to the conclusion that this was an area wide open for missuse and abuse. I can see the plus sides aswell as the negatives and it's so hard to just say no way never. What the poll went for was continued CONTROLED resurch into this field and that was the only answer they could come up with.

My personal worries exist around the posabilities that in future time we could end up with a whole race of slave clones, grown with the sole intention to harvest organs from. If this were to come to pass it would be a true violation and so we really must keep this kind of experimentation under good control. The poll my mum took part in was responcable for the setting up of the controling bodies who say if these things can happen or not and it's been running for a long time now, I just hope they don't loose track of the original reasons for them being created.

If they could find a way to just grow organs and nothing else, now that I would stand behind but babies I can't agree with. :fpatricks

I'm all for stem cell research...it could help my dad with his current muscle disease. But cloning these so called "designer babies" seems a bit iffy to me.

I don't understand why they don't use eggs from fertility clinics. I mean...many of those eggs are destroyed. They could be easily used for stem cell research without even having to touch the whole cloning issue.

Yes that was just the point mum and I came to we could see how this whole thing could happen and work out. No one wants to thing it will happen but we have to face the posibility that it can and given how we humans love to medle with stuff, probably will happen. It's a hard thing to say no way too but control is sooo needed
